Robert, I think what sets you aside from other fitness channels (aside from your eloquence) is your relaxed energy focused on health and longevity along with strength and aesthetics. In a world with everyone trying to sell you something, you're a refreshing change of pace. A person actually walking a different path than others, with the fruits of their labour well on display. Thank you for all your educational content that you keep providing, free of charge. Much love from Finland, God bless!
When you know that 350 g of protein will lead to gluconeogenesis for you, then why consume that much? It makes no sense. Most studies show that consuming more than 2 g/kg bodyweight doesn't make any difference for muscle building. It's just a waste of money, resources and a stress on the system (especially kidneys).
Great explanation. I enjoy the details. The ketones and BS are great indicators for me as well as to weather my caloric surplus is creating a protein blood sugar issue. Also gut bloating and/or diarrhea help me to either lower the fat ratio etc. But being fat adapted is really helpful for the adjustments as just like you I was back producing good ketone numbers and good blood sugar numbers after what was only a 36 hour fast for me. It is nice to have that metabolic ability to quickly make that readjust. Everyone has a different way to do a bulk obviously based on the comments and your own experience. You are trying something different than your usual past practice. That’s ok. As long as you track; your strength comes up like you are desiring, your ability to get your BS and ketones in a good spot; then don’t second guess yourself. You are listening to your joints, energy and numbers and as long as you don’t let your body composition get away from you (which you haven’t), then I believe you will be successful. You are a smart natural keto body builder trust your body and your instincts.
