Started a real Ketogenic Diet through your channel and I got a two for one life change. I went on a low carb diet starting in early June 2021 I lost a few lb's. Then I found you and followed you through your training and BAM weight is finally coming off the way I wanted it to. Quick self health explanation. I am type 2 diabetic for many years was taking 70 units a day, gave birth to 8 boys, started on insulin 1 year ago and 50lb's came on with vengeance from the injections. I have lost 17 lb's starting the Keto Diet fasting 2 days out of the week and water, water, water with electrolytes and filter water as well. Just started walking for 30 min. a day. As of today I am taking 0 insulin in the morning & 4 units at night my glucose readings went from 400+ to this morning reading 116. AMAZING & owe a thank you to Mr. Delauer for my success!
I watched the video with the recommended plans and it's still unbearably confusing. I am tech savvy. I received 2 different emails with different content in the body of each but the same download versus what the body says. This is not what I expected from Thomas as he is so concise in all his videos. I'm disappointed.
In November, I was 320 lbs. Had two spine surgeries 2 and 4 months prior. Working out was barred for me by doctors. I used info from Thomas and Dr berg on keto and I am now at 195. No exercise outside my normal daily routine (my job is quite physical). And tbh, Ive lost very little muscle. 125lbs in 5 1/2 months is pretty amazing. Thanks Thomas.
Because diet is what affects weight loss the most, not exercise. I see exercise as a reshaping of your body instead. I dont know you and am very proud of you.
I had neck fusion in December so I know the situation I can’t workout so I am doing keto it’s hard not gonna lie but need to do something since I gained weight while out of work on workmens comp.
Have lost 70 pounds from just using this video as reference and intense exercise 6 days a week, with one cheat day because I Believe it helps with sustainability . Thank you Thomas, i went for 299 lbs on july 27 2022 to now at 228 on january 4 2023. Hoping to get to 200. You have become one of my regular sources of health information
Love this man. In 8 mins he basically explained me why I am having those bloody headaches and ups and downs. Also gave me the solution. Peace Bro! So happy that I have found You.
In 2018 I weighed 240 at 5'6" I randomly saw one of Dr. bergs videos on youtube. I figured what the hell why not. By the time 2019 came around I was 163. Went and rejoined the military "Navy reserves" I had gotten out of the Marines in 2010 and didn't think I could ever get back in. I'm a fatty at heart, daddy likes to eat. After the first 2 weeks it's easy. I mixed in intermittent fasting and eventually got down to one meal a day. When you each so much fat you're never hungry. Hell sometimes I didn't even want to eat the next day. It works folks. Don't cheat and stay dedicated. IT WILL WORK.
Reece, what the, why not? The bullet coffee is definitely a winner. I’ll take the challenge of dedication. Proud that it made you get back into reserves! 👏
I have lost 25lbs in 2 months on Keto, weight loss has slowed to 3.5lbs per week and the closer to my natural bodyweight, the amount of weight per week should gradually decrease. I am loving the Keto diet, its easy and works.
Try some fasting, too. Works amazing and not just for weight loss. Some of the many benefits of fasting and a lower carb whole food diet on the immune system, blood pressure, blood sugar and anti-aging, all backed up by clinical data: The hunger hormone ghrelin lowers over time with extended fasting and rise from dieting Thymus stem cells are regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system. Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria and viruses by the immune system. Blood pressure is quickly and dramatically lowered, which is very important for a good outcome with the current pandemic. Fasting increases nitric oxide, which has manifold postive effects like reducing arterial plaque. Weight loss from fasting only loses10% lean tissue and 90% fat compared to the typical 25% lean tissue and 75% fat lost when calorically restricting for long periods. Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy! Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Ideal blood sugar is around 80. Some viruses activate glycolosis (the release of sugar in the body) and clinically it has been shown that decreasing glucose metabolism in the body weakens the influenza virus. Fasts of several days will not affect short term female fertility and may increase long term fertility especially in women with PCOS. It's absolutely fine for cortisol to be high while fasting, because it produces sugar from fat instead of lean tissue ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-giEDadzoErs.html Does the body prefernetially prefer glucose as a fuel? No, it never uses mainly glucose for fuel and using glucose for fuel is very biochemically damaging! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Nf1jwMbvNxw.html The hormone Leptin is an immunomodulator that keeps the body from attacking itself and obesity causes leptin resistance. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance and leptin levels and one day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again! Is fasting just the same as caloric restriction? No! Dieting increases the hunger hormone ghrelin while fasting decreases it and has many other health benefits! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sVl-nilhWLc.html When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state. It stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses. Does fasting burn muscle? In most cases no! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-teQIaU6wp2o.html Fasting can make you gain muscle faster: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5RM8GRzsIIg.html Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. This can offset the life threatening symptoms of viral pneumonia which effectively kills you through inflammation. This also creates BHB ketones in your body, which also help your immune system and anti-oxidative system, especially in the brain. Ketones also provide an additional energy source during infection, which is critical when trying to fight off a bug. In fact you can have as much as three times the total energy available in your blood when you are in deep ketosis, or even more. It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and cancer prevention! Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BeC_gIR2Z14.html Your body releases interferon which is also triggered by the body during viral attacks to shut down the replication ability of the surrounding cells and stop infections. After 72 hours or more fasted, your body actually recycles large numbers of immune bodies and creates new ones, rejuvenating your entire system. When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells. This kills these cells off completely. Senescent cells are responsible for the effects of aging and are the root cause of the development of cancer. If it were possible to destroy them all it would completely stop aging and cancer. That is not possible but fasting can help limit these effects by killing off many of the affected cells and limiting the future effects of aging. Fasting also releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth, helping a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers. In fact, the biochemical regulator of BDNF production is beta-hydroxybutyrate, which is the same ketone the body produces to nourish the brain while fasting. Autophagy induced by fasting even helps hair regrow. What breaks a fast? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7aRLsCpxy3o.html Dieters losing weight through intermittent fasting show greater reduction in waist size and increase in insulin sensitivity for the same weight lost and alternate day fasters were shown to lose fat while gaining muscle at the same time over a six month period. Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it and builds muscle! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fJUDucBWv4s.html Fasting has been shown to increase bone marrow volume by 10% and levels of carnosine in the body in as little as a few weeks. Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level. Eating one meal a day can bring most of these benefits to a lesser degree, and adding a few entire days off from eating per week will have even more effect especially when starting to feel poorly. Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. Those with Addison's disease may also be unable to fast without liberal use of exogenous ketones, depending on severity. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness then simply break the fast and seek advice. Just a note to say thank you for your videos. I've learned so much over the last two months. I started the keto diet 12 weeks ago and intermittent fasting 6 weeks ago. I'm down 30 lbs. and feeling great!
@@SreeM. I'm now down 43 lbs on the Ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. Only 10 lbs more from my goal weight. I'm eating mostly healthy fats and protein and limited carbohydrates to under 50 grams. I've also kept sugar and alcohol to a minimum. I'm not great in the kitchen so I have been eating home delivery meals from Factor. They have great Keto options. When I want a snack I'll have a piece of cheese, strawberries or walnuts. When I go out to a restaurant, I make sure to order carefully.
I avoid all carbs since a heart attack in May. I made a glycemic index chart and followed it. I lost so much weight very specifically where I thought I could never lose it! I lost 4 inches in my waist. I feel great now, because I look better than I ever did. Watching your videos has guided me away from fruit which I previously thought was essential(though I was only eating cherries and prunes at the time). I've always eaten with reckless abandon and still do. Now I just avoid carbs and try to eat within the 8 hour window.
Thomas I want to say Thank you for you videos, I came across you a year ago and started keto starting at 265lbs within 3-4 months I was down to 185lbs and I’m maintaining a healthy lifestyle now THANK YOU!!!!!
Hi, Thomas, I started on Low carb in late may this year, and up to now, I have shed 30lb without any effort to be very honest. I cannot exercise as I am waiting for a knee and hip operation, but I have to say it has been a fabulous journey eating delicious food, instead of starving on low-fat diets! I will look at keto after this video, which is great information by the way.
Thanks to being diagnosed with diabetes I'm now expired to get my health back the way it use to be. and thank you Thomas for being a health warrior ... YOU'RE GOOD
Loooool.... I've literally just been cursing my dumb ass thinking Ive fucked up yet another pair of earphones (since it was just trapped under my laptop just a minute ago) hahahaha!!!
Thank you for the encouragement! I dropped my water weight now maintaining and looking forward to the fat loss in the next step. You helped it all make sense and kept me from throwing in the towel after a 1 week plateau.
Thank you for clearing this up. About 15 years ago, a NEW generation was introduced to Adkins. The most recent generations always think they discovered everything. Read some old school magazines from the 70's and 80's, (Flex, Muscle Mag, etc.) you'll see tons of information on CARB restriction and its benefits.
I just wanted to let you know that your audio is off balance. I am listening through headphones and your strong on the left side but nothing on the right. Just an FYI.
this will never work for me, keto diet, whatever it is always makes me feel terrible. good thing i switch to agoge diet which helped me with lots of things regarding my health
Thomas- so thankful for you dude! You ,sir, are a true medical man...a healer an exhorter...wow. yes. God bless that lovely woman beside you and your family. Never stop!!!!!
Great video with clear and easily understood concepts. Success story here... Lost 30 pounds in the last two months - 2 "bullet proof" coffees a day and a moderate sized dinner, avoiding carbs, of course. That's with minimal effort, little exercise, and more energy than I ever thought I'd have again! Thanks for the great information and keep them coming.
Saving this video trying to get my dtr with Hashimotos to try the Keto diet. I’ve been following you since March and have loved all the information and a plus is I’ve lost almost 25lbs. Slow n steady thanks Thomas
I appreciate that he indicated ketosis is NOT optimal for high intensity activities, like heavy weightlifting. Over 11 years in the gym with tight nutrition, I always noticed that removing carbohydrates killed my workouts (e.g. lost strength, minimal pump, etc.). Ketosis is not optimal for gaining lean mass.
@@marcdoughty-lee2294 Same, my warmup and second set feel strogner with carbs, but in ketosis I feel like I get stronger as the workout progresses and I feel like I could lift all day long. Hi octane Gasoline car vs Diesel Truck is how i explain it

I live in Austria, Europe. It is total low carb, keto (and please don´t mention carnivore!)-WASTELAND here! Thank you so much, guys (All of you who give a platform to high-quality information!)! You saved my life! Or to say it in a better way: You gave me all the information to get a high quality of life! . I never ever been so healthy! I never ever in my life I felt so good no matter if it is my mental condition or my physical. My whole life flipped around! . How? High-quality low carb, real clean keto, sometimes even phases of a carnivore (I found a farmer who hast cattle which are really grass-fed, grass-finished and beautiful!). . When I read your posting about sugar I just remember that I feel like walking alone in the desert of nutrition-missinformation here in Europe. Thank you so much for your work and your effort! You make some lives better, maybe even save some lives... I wanted you to know that!
I’ve been doing the keto diet for 2 weeks training hard and have see some great results. However, yesterday I was invited to lunch at a... bread/ bakery and I’ve been trying to figure out why I feel TERRIBLE. Thanks for clearing this one up. Don’t want to hover, sticking to keto.
This is going to suit me, see, I'm limited to excersises due to Physical aliments 😥 from being active to non active has been a downer for me, I've already started keto, 4 Days now here's good luck to me 😉

Ketosis is not "starvation" mode. It just means you are using fat as a primary fuel source instead of carbohydrates. This was the natural metabolic state for 95% of human history until the advent of agriculture about 10,000 years ago. Our bodies have adapted to running off glucose because our diets have become so carbohydrate rich. The body produces its own glucose when it needs to from fats. There was never any significant source of carbohydrates available to our hunter gatherer ancestors in nature. The fruits, veggies, and grains we consume today have been manipulated and bred for thousands of years to suit us. The idea that you are "starving" once glycogen stores are depleted after 24hrs of fasting is absolutely ridiculous. In ketosis, the body actually retains far more muscle mass than a restricted calorie diet and the average person has at least one month's worth of fat reserves before the body would even consider using muscle for fuel. The point where muscle is being used for fuel because fat has run out is true starvation. To rephrase, starvation is when you run out of fat, not when you run out of carbs.
You have no idea what the fuck hunter gatherers ate. The majority of the fossil evidence that we have provides evidence for a majority plant-based diet, NOT a keto diet. Even with fossil evidence we can only GUESS what they consumed. Your logic is fucking smack too. We don't need carbs because our body can produce them from fat? We don't need to eat fat because we can produce lipids from carbs. Just like there are essential fatty acids that come from foods high in fat, there are essential micro-nutrients that you can only get from plants. You're all fucking morons. Keto, low-carb, high-carb, it doesn't fucking matter. You can lose fat eating exclusively twinkies, google the twinkie diet. All that matters for weight loss is being in a caloric deficit. There are zero populations of humans that have long-term keto diets. There are zero humans who have done a keto diet long-term. The fact that you're smashing in saturated fat when we know for a FACT that it increases your risk of developing Alzheimer's, heart disease, and metabolic syndrome just shows how fucking desperate you are to believe in pseudoscience.
Thanks for this. I think too many people get caught up in what is right or wrong. As long as basic health markers are met, and results are achieved that's a win in my eyes.
Lost 110 pounds on low card and keto this year. In fact that was done on keto in about five months and I’ve been maintaining a low card life style since. About to ramp up the keto again. Wish me luck 🍀
Yes, it was decades ago not that it really matters and indeed in the UK we had in the UK in about 1863 had William Banting reducing carbs en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Banting and 60 years ago treated epileptic children with keto diets. It's all good and of course it's how our ancestors ate for 1m years anyway.
I thought my headphones was broken for a second. Thanks for the video. Very informative and made me realize how strong and powerful the human body is. Definitely subscribing.👌🏽😏
I was hardcore keto for about 7 years, I lost 140 lbs in about 10 months. I got off track about a year ago, and recently I recommitted. I'm feeling better already.
I get hives when I come in and out of ketosis. It’s not keto rash. There is no information on it. Please help me! I try to prevent it by eating carbs at night (the carb-backloading plan) but if I do an extended fast I get hives again and I’ll get hives when I come out and eat my meal. Everything I look up just pulls up keto rash information. Please find something about it! 💕 P. S. I’m not a new subscriber. I’ve been watching you for years!
Have you been taking enough sunlight? A lot of skin problems are actually healed if you spend at least 45 minutes under the sun (do not use sunscreen or sun lotion, those are the actual causes of skin cancer). Find an hour of the day with the lowest UV index, either the first hour after sunrise or the hour just before sunset, and expose as much of your skin as possible to it. Or find a place in the shade in other hours, and step into the sun gradually, as long as you are comfortable, so that you do not get a sunburn. I live in Mexico, I am white, and after taking these sunbaths, I am now able to spend 45 minutes under the sun at different hours, without taking a break; I've been doing it for several years now, and since then, my skin has no rashes :-)
Excellent Video! Apologies for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you ever tried - Dinanlinson Elegant Figure Approach (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a smashing one of a kind product for uncovering the secrets behind a highly effective low carb diet without the headache. Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my BF at last got excellent results with it.
Lovely Video! Apologies for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you considered - Dinanlinson Elegant Figure Approach (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a good one of a kind guide for uncovering the secrets behind a highly effective low carb diet minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my GF got great success with it.
This was great, thanks, I've been looking for "how to keto adapt" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Leviwiy Ketogenic Kaiserism - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my brother in law got great success with it.
+Omar Dz Excellent video content! Apologies for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Dinanlinson Elegant Figure Approach (google it)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for uncovering the secrets behind a highly effective low carb diet minus the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my friend got amazing results with it.
2:30 you're talking about total calories. I was watching another channel from one of the medical research doctors I follow recently, and I've tried to find the video so I could link it, but I'm not seeing it, but that guy was saying that his research showed that a fully keto adapted person doesn't just use or store calories. In other words, if you're not using the calories to do something (running, swimming, thinking) normally you would store them for later, but a keto adapted person will shed excess calories into his environment by either using it to produce excess body heat, by breathing the ketones out, or by excreting the ketones in urine. I believe it is because the lack of insulin that the body is simply not triggered to go into storage mode, and what ever isn't getting used is simply being shed. This means you can actually eat more calories than you use, and still lose weight. You don't have to end the day on a caloric deficit.
FOUND IT! This is the video I was looking for in my previous post. Around the 23 minute marker, he starts talking about what I was referencing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8t1JN0RgvO4.html
I’m low on carbs, got rid of sugar. Plenty of protein. Haven’t lost for about 3 months. I’m a senior,73, I’m still sticking with it because I feel great, but I’m looking for the reason why weight loss stopped. I should be 15 lbs less.plenty of fat around the middle. I keep watching for my particular answer. High activity worked when I was younger but that isn’t possible now. ( I am down 10). Hanging in there. You’re the best!
Thank you for the content! Im so glad and grateful to be along in the keto journey! What I appreciate the most are the vendors you share! I thoroughly enjoy trying their products, and knowing they are in my corner has helped me be successful with great health! You're the Best!
Thank you so much for all the info it has helped me out so much..my weakness has always been sugar and breads since I started keto I haven't craved it .
I do more intense workouts. After the first two weeks of ketosis, I stopped feeling fatigued and weak during my workouts. It seems like once the body has adjusted, you can return to your previous intensity levels. This has been my experience.
Thomas, Due to the success of Kettle & Fire bone broth. They have had to ramp up production. Feel they are now skimpingy. The broth USE to “gel” in the fridg. It no longer does. No gel = no Glycine. Now Looking for a better option.
Its crazy how every time you upload a video I'm researching about at the exact same time !!! Awwww man really thank you so much for sharing all your content with us . Your the best !
This is a diet of highly addictive disease causing foods that also trigger the SAME areas of the brain as heroin and other addictive drugs. These are foods lowering your immune system, lowering nutrients, fibre, minerals, and just and excuse to eat more animal protein. It causes cardiovascular acid food PLAQUE building diet that actually causes heart and cardiovascular plaque building and other disease including other problems diabetes, osteoporosis, inflamation and more. The animal proteins and fats including like dairy are highly acidic and cause inflammation acid and plaque buildup. Very little minerals, fiber and acid neutralizing nutrients also
I don't think I'm in Ketosis, but I've lowered my carbs dramatically. I find that if I do a v low carb diet for up to 3 or 4 months I start to feel emotionally empty, it's a weird sensation. I have no cravings and I'm not hungry, but emotionally I feel flat. I think it's because the food is not giving me my endorphine high. I love to eat veg and salad, I love meat and cheese, I eat all those things, but without the carbs I think I start to feell empty and blah emotionally. Does anyone else get that?
Mr. Thomas. Ill jump into it, My Meals while Im loosing Weight . I do this every year for 12 weeks for the past for 23 years but I have a huge question at the end ......430am preworkout drink, 5am cardio for 30 min, 530am weight train like a beast for 45 min., 7am eat 1/2 lb of bacon and 12 eggs (6whites 6 yolks)sometime I put 1cp broccoli in with it .9am Big 2 scoops protein shake(water not milk), 12pm 1lb turkey burger 3Tbs of Salsa, 1/4 head lettuce, 6oz cheese 3Tbs Mayo,3Tbs Mustard salt and pepper and 2 cps cottage cheese . 2pm Big 2 scoop protein shake (water not milk)with 1Tbs peanut butter ,4pm my snack 1/2lb chicken breast (salt pepper only) and a 1cp veggie usually asparagus or Brussels sprouts ,6pm 1lb chicken breast nice seasonings 2cps veggies (opposite from snack choice) 6oz cheese and 1cp yogurt plain for desert, 830pm another protein shake mixed with crushed ice thick like icecream . I pretty much eat this everyday for 12 weeks with small changes once in awhile but rare and I just change up the meal order to fool myself into thinking Im eating something different for each meal and my shakes change from chocolate to vanilla every other day and to add to this I drink aprox 2 1/2 galls of water everyday and everything is cooked in 1/4 stick of butter and Olive Oil is Free Flowing . Now thats abit of food for 1 day and I usally loose about 25-30 lbs in 12 weeks......................Now I dont know nothing about this keto deal but my girlfriend said my (what I call my bodybuilding weight lose diet )sounds like a keto diet so Ive checked out your stuff and a few others cause I never heard of this keto stuff and I think I consume more solids then a regular keto person MY QUESTION? I see everyone talking about how on keto they cut carbs which if you add what im doing Im very very low in carbs around 20-30 and high in protein (Shakes alone are over 200g a day) calories are up there ,sugar none, sodium I love it ! . Anyway why do people keep saying they feel great ? they are Never! Hungry? they feel full ALL THE TIME ? their concentration and brain patterns are better? Because let me tell you Im always starving!!! Im a pissed off hungry mess!!! Im very very tired from 8am until I go to bed at 9pm and my patience level towards everything including man-kind is very ill and its always like this every year. So some would ask the Question : why do you do it? When I was younger in my 20's competing ,Im 48 now, people said wait until you get older you wont be able to train and diet so hard and easily and getting rid of fat and get into contest shape because with age it gets harder and harder .so I decide back then every year Ill stay in good muscle building strength shape and 12 weeks a year Ill train to loose it (cut) like when I was a bodybuilder back in my 20's. Its fun and Ive kept myself in check not to be like all the other 48yr old out of shape people in the world full of Excuses .......MY QUESTION AGAIN :How do these keto people and You survive on 3000 down to 2000 calories aday and be happy and feel good? My normal stats: Im 245-250lbs Im 6'3"tall 36"-38"waist and I normally eat 8-10,000 cals a day and always over 250g protein I dont count carbs ,sugar or fat I just eat and train hard. by March 5th every year which is the end of my 12 weeks Im 220-225 6'3" 34-36" waist and starving to death and very pissed off but I look good and Im still strong as an ox my weight training stays about the same but thats because Im pissed off all the time so I lift heavy to release my starving temper. .............If you have a moment ,Whats your thoughts? on why I am so freaking hungry all the time ,tired, exhausted, tempered and cant keep a thought to save my life ? Im envious of everyone who says they feel great when they cut carbs because once I add Tons of carbs to this mix I'll feel so much better. What do you think. I dig watching all your stuff sometimes its abit deep for me but I dig it Thx and Cheers!
At 55 years age, with jeans that are 37 years old, and doing a modified version of keto for almost a year, I can fit into theses jeans. They are the only pair that I own. I could only dream of being able to wear them again. That dream has come true. I will continue this old school yet revised way of eating so I will be healthier and better than ever. Please keep posting the positive on this. Thank you.
I lost 30 lbs. with keto in the first 4 months . From 164 to 134. It lowered my pre-diabetic from 6.3 to 5.1 . I’m 73 so I’m not moderately active so a keto diet works for me . I tried doing veggies and ended up with diverticulitis. And gained 7 lbs …now I’m back to keto and having a hard time losing those pounds . Ugh !!! I walk my dog twIce a day 30 to 40 minutes, plus, I do yard work or vigorous house cleaning. I have experienced the keto flu and the low energy that comes with it, so added some almond flour baking so I can get a few carbs in, but I think I do need to cut back on my fatty meats . And salads, although I love them, seems to put weight on me . Help !
+ddizzler2 Fast carbs/sugar even in very small amounts, slow carbs when going over 30 grams of total net carbs pr day (some can do more some less) and to much protein (gluconeogenesis) will kick you out of ketosis.
+Todd Huynh Between 1- 2 gram of protein pr kg lean body mass. If very active, healthy and lifting weights seriously you 'need' and can tolerate more. If really overweight, unhealthy and sedentary not much. If in doubt you can test it with a glucometer what works best for you. Most who are in ketosis, well adapted and feeling good will know if they drop out into either carb sugar burning or gluconeogenesis because they would know what they ate to much of... or if they ate something they have a hard time tolerating ;)
Can you educate us on doing keto for kids, specifically kids with autism. Is it safe? Is it safe long term? Will their nutrional values be different? Is lchf a better decision? What supplements would you recommend so that picky eaters hit their electrolyte goals? A well rounded reply would be greatly appreciated. Is it beneficial and why?
This is likely the best episode I've seen yet because it actually applied to me more than others. I'm in POST menopause which means I'm basically like a guy who is low T. I've been in the fitness biz for years and was nicknamed Xena for being very strong and lean. Then menopause hit in my early 50s. Still strong, just noticed that cardio did nothing for me. Also, keto stopped working ... Even carnivore didn't work! I got so fed up, I quit and started eating potatoes, wild rice, and even stuffing. Didn't really see a change, but didn't feel good either and the small inner tube never disappeared of course. So, I tried something different. In my later 50s, I decided to go for a lifting ratio of 5:5. Yes. VERY torturous. I still was able to use some heavy weight but only do one set for each body part. Instead of running for 30 minutes with nothing to show for it, between sets, I sprint for 20 seconds. I do this 3 times per week. Once per week I do more easy integrated flexibility and easy zero weight muscle endurance. Then added 1 more rest day for a total of 3. Once per month I have a heavy lifting day. My strength is now through the roof. e.g. For the first time, I did Single-arm ball chest press with a 65# dumbbell TWENTY TIMES on each side! I went back to keto but eat vegetables again and still eat fat, but slightly less and incorporate a little more fowl. My plan is to wait until it stops working for kind of a while, carb load for a day, then go back to strict keto. At this age, my body adapts to every diet I do. You know it's bad when a few years ago, you could get cut in under a week, but now you can eat 8 eggs per day in a 4-hour window and nothing else for weeks and have that lipid flotation device staring back at you. Normally, I would NEVER deviate from ketosis, but with this new alien body, I have to trick my body into change through shock treatment. I don't know how well it will work for weight loss since I just started, but for strength, it's been like a magic bullet. I hate the 5:5 tempo but I love the results. Thx for more continuing to research. We all benefit.
Thank you I'm taking tips. I'm peri. and absolutely nothing diet wise is helping. I'm also lower activity and trying to increase that as I heal from some injuries. It's hard. I'd like to just have all this guess work taken away for me and get a personal plan. It's hard when you feel like you're swimming up hill.
Thomas DeLauer hey man, I was wandering if you could upload a video with your full day of eating ketogenic! It would be awesome man. Thank you!! And cheers from Mexico.
is playing tennis 3-4 times a week, running and cycling (this I do everyday) considered high performance? Because I love the feeling of ketosis, but I want the max energy i can have.
Hey bro I am on keto lost over 70lbs not counting calories. Feel 1000% better than i ever felt eating those crap carbs. Do it DOITTTTT! Never hungry, never tired, stronger , faster and smarter.
As a biochemist, you have some correct and some false information. For one, both glycogen breakdown and beta oxidation of fatty acid are ATP producing process via NADH production leading to electron transport chain activation. So it was false for you to day that carb runs via ATP while fat runs via beta oxidation is false, for they are both getting ATP. The reason why glycogen breakdown is better for athletes is that glycogen breakdown is a simpler process than ketone body breakdown. Ketone body process requires reversal reaction leading to acetyl coa production that enters the kreb cycle afterward. So it's much easier for glycogen and faster, which is why athletes need carb
The way he explained it was the same as was explained in my health and fitness class, it is a lot more complicated than what he said but that is how most fitness and basic science classes summarize the process because the two are broken down differently even though it is technically the same process. So he wasn't technically wrong, it was a summary not a full, in depth explanation.
Silver Scale Productions he was wrong when he said you don’t use ATP’s when in Ketosis, because you do. That’s how we get energy. Even when you don’t get oxygen in the transport chain, your muscles go to a state call fermentation and ATP’s still get made. ATP’s is what we run on. It’s easier for our body’s to process carbs than it does with fat, but at the end, we still get ATP’s.
@@guilbertmedina325 well that is what I meant, the process between the two is slightly different but the end result is the same, I was mainly just saying that most health classes describe it the same way he did. Science classes go a lot more in depth and into the specifics of the processes but most health classes usually just give the gist of it because it does get very complicated. But by what I understood from my various classes is that, while all the processes to produce ATP's use energy, some processes also use some ATP's in the process too. Ketosis doesn't because, by its nature it is the process used when the body already does not have enough ready made energy. He did forget to clarify that one point and left it open for misinterpretation.
I trust you know what you're talking about, at least in terms of biology. But with that said, it depends on the kind of athlete we're talking about. I'm not sure parkour or gymnastics counts because I have no problems with performance on ketosis. I would say both are explosive sports, and I train pretty hard. Of course, this is an anecdote.
Ha!! "The advent of the Atkins diet 10/15 years ago"..??? 2017-1972= 45. Forty Five years ago! My dad was a cyclist in the 70's who used the OLD SCHOOL Induction Phase...15 net carbs/day to win ALL the races. ;-)
Thomas I would like to thank you for your video and advice. I thank God for you. I have lost 40 pounds in almost 3.5 months via keto diet, Intermittent fasting, your video , your food and grocery suggestions. I am now competing in MMA and successful at my career in the healthcare industry.
Love your videos! They are so informative, and extremely helpful. I've been following a strict keto diet for almost two months now and have had some great success. Inches have come off my waistline, and I'm down 25lbs. However, I do have a question, I do enjoy a HIIT workout at least 2x a week. I usually take a CKO Kickboxing class that is 60 mins in duration. I have noticed my energy levels drop significantly during this type of workout...Is there an option to eat higher amounts of carbs, say 90 mins before a HIIT workout, and burn those carbs off during the workout, thereby giving me energy that I need while not kicking myself out of ketosis? I just really enjoy kickboxing and like the results I am getting from the keto diet.
Hey Thomas, thank you for all that you're doing! Your videos are awesome; I'm a Chiropractor and your videos have taught me/reminded me so much about nutrition that I can relay to my patients! Specializing in an allergy treatment technique, it's really handy! Lol I would actually be really excited about a video on macro ratios. I'm brand new to keto and still learning. TIA and keep it up!
How about I cut 50% of my carb consumption. Eat it only in breakfast, skip the lunch and eat either fish or beef for dinner. I usually eat flat bread with veggies in breakfast every day. Same for the lunch and dinner. Mine is all organic diet. Although there is a lot of added sugar in my diet because I drink tea a lot.
Exactly, it was a way to reverse type 2 diabetes and the bonus was weight loss. So we are actually looking at almost 60 years ago. Atkins was ridiculed by medical profession at the time and into the 1980s, but now the doctors seem to have caught up and are recommending his plan for diabetics.
@@Heli-gx4qh Check out FALIM gum; straight unflavored gum tastes kinda herby. The gum is pretty tough to chew on; perfect for getting that sharp jawline 👌
Daughter_of_the_King I struggled a lot in the first few weeks too but eventually the cravings go away. After about four weeks I no longer crave carbs and sugar. Persevere! We are in this together :)
Just for the record, matcha powder in your shakes or in a latte or tea really helps with cravings. Thomas mentions this in one of his videos (the one on making coffees) he says there is something in it with a big name that curbs cravings in a big way. (Look up Thomas video on making coffee) hope this helps. Oh and apple cider vinegar as well in between meals.
Thomas, your utter gorgeousness; Please answer this question. I recently started weight training, I've been keto for over a year and have lost 140 pounds. I feel great from the weight training, much stronger in only a couple weeks, BUT...my weight loss has stalled, even though I'm doing keto/IF perfectly ! Is this normal ? Oh man, I hope you answer as I can't seem to get any real answers from internet research....Love your videos, especially the one you made about going to Starbucks. That was hilarious :-) Thank you !
Thomas DeLauer is total awesomeness! He shares so much valuable information in order to bring about understanding & ultimately CHANGE. I am one of the lucky people that the Ketogenic experience works wonders. If there ever was a “fountain of youth” this is IF + Keto = Happy energy!!! (Like when I was a kid!!!) 💪😅👍❣️
+Debra - We need to take "bile salts" to digest the fat and protein (if by surgery, you meant removal). Otherwise, we end up with ailments like fatty liver or rashes. Eric Berg has a video on it. I'd source it for you, but I'm at work. I hate that I trusted the doctors explicitly, when they said I don't need my gallbladder.
Meaning you don't have one? In either case yes, it's safe but if you don't have one at all it will take you a while to fat adapt. You will want to slowly work on your fat intake, nothing bad will happen if you go to fast or overdo it but you may get very cozy with the crapper in the interim. Many people without gallbladders do a few extra meals a day that are smaller.
Debra Schott It is the best choice I really recommend you to visit this channel : Dr. Eric Berg ,here on RU-vid. He's amazing and he has done a lot of gallbladder video :)
This channel has quickly become my one-stop information source for everything keto related. I like the scientific, no-nonsense approach. The diet itself though doesn't seem to do me any good. I've been on keto now for 3 weeks and follow the advice on this channel religiously. As was to be expected I lost 2 kilos in the first two days (my body getting rid of water), but then nothing! After three weeks of depriving myself of all this carb heavy food I love so much I haven't lost a gram more than the first two kg! I'm also not experiencing any of the other effects people who are on the diet are talking about. I don't feel better, nor more energised. I have to admit, that I do almost no sport whatsoever. I get a bit of exercise in my job (quite a bit of walking), but not more than the average man. This will be the next thing I'll introduce to my health program. Still I'm slightly disappointed by the complete lack of results after being on this diet for some time. 😕🤔
Try some qi Chong, that's leeching they offer free classes on utube It helps distribute the mental energies Sounds t me ur not around a lot of positivit😅
Was on Keto diet for 6 months, was great but a pain in the ass when going out to eat and eating the same shit all the time, I have now upped my carbs to about 60-70g of carbs a day and I feel much better and have a much more variety of food to eat.
If anyone want’s to try keto, i recommend cutting out dairy and anything high in trans fat. Dairy contains casein protein, and when broken down creates casomorphins, which attach themselves to the same receptors as opiods. It is a form of morphin. That’s why people get addicted to cheddar. Also limit protein, or else it will turn into carbs if overindulged
There is a diet I truly respond to....the Metabolic Diet...basically you low carb M-F, switch and carb up on Saturday & Sunday. You are carbing up and depleting. This uses your insulin response. It works quite well. Written by Dr. Pasquale....an. ex Canadian power lifter.
