For me, if I slipped, i was back into ketosis within 14 to 18 hours. I atteibute this quick reboot to intermittant fasting.

My keto urine sticks says there 16mmol of ketones. Should I be worried if (I do not have type 1 diabetes)?

Thank you Dr. Boz for this video. I have been searching and researching for an answer to my plateau. I have been on keto 20 or less carbs for 14 months.I lost 50lbs the first 4 months and very little after. The measurements are not changing. I have been overweight for most of my life, and over 50. I need to lose 100 or more lbs. My marcos are good and I tried all the "tweaks" such as cutting nuts, dairy, calories, and nothing broke my stall. I have been doing this for two months with no progress. I tried IF too and nothing. I finally broke down and got a ketone/glucose monitor and I discovered that I am not in optimal ketosis. I was ranging around 0.3-0.6 with 20 and under carbs. It has been VERY FRUSTRATING especially when I hear from so many that the problem is dairy, calories, too much this and too much that. That may be true for some people but seven months on and stall and something is going on with my carbs. I am now trying IF with cutting to 10 carbs per day and seeing my ketones between 1.0-4.5. I do have a question, Why does would the 20 carbs work in the beginning and then stop ? I understand the water issue but I lost 50lbs. This video is encouraging ! Thank you. I am documenting my progress on my channel.

Loriketo Lori, I have lost 75 lbs on if and keto how ever I have been in a stall for a month now and I started omad 2 days ago and it appears to be helping. I have 10 lbs to go and they are tough. Just keep trying different things until you find one that works. Hang in there.

Cut your proteins, 80 % of your calorie intake must be from fat. Also you should ad intermittent fasting .

Been two weeks on keto. Used ketostix first time before lunch and was in 4 mmol range. Instructions say to contact my doctor. ?? I am not diabetic, at least haven't been diagnosed as. So I'm not yet fat adapted I guess.

I have been using ketone strips but not sure what i'm doing wrong..color is not changing...been doing diet by the book, but doesn't seem i'm going into ketosis.

Dr Boz, I use intermittent fasting, within 4 hour window I eat 2 times and then I fast for 20 hours. How much protein do you suggest to eat per meal (155 lbs)? If I eat more then 40 grams of protein will that have negative impact on my kidneys? It is hard to have right amount of protein when you eat within small window like that.

why does my urine keto strip read dark purple but then one min later my blood ketones are only 0.9.....im confused

From what I understand, that makes sense b/c purple means you're in ketosis and 0.9 is good b/c 2.0 and under is where it should be. Sounds like you're on the right track.

I have been doing keto for about three months now. I have lost weigh and have more energy. I assumed I was in ketosis. I bought some strips today and tested it, it shows I have no ketones. The strip didn't even chance color. I am confused. Can someone help me to understand what is going on?

Its because your body is fat adapted so you don't have excess ketones your body is using them

I never realized key tones was just for diabetes . I was diagnosed with pre diabetes , I was checked for urine and everything and I was negative and I checked for urine last night I was negative and this morning I was at moderate ! My dr told me to have only fish, chicken , meat, green veg, and water! And wants me under 100 I never knew this diet would cause key tones ! I need help. What should I do ! I checked earlier again because I ate and it gave me trace

I struggled with keto too much, I just felt exhausted. We're supposed to enjoy the food we eat and with keto that's close to impossible. That's why I tried the Agoge diet and it works great.

Hi Dr. Boz, I'm a type I diabetic and following your keto method. I am having issues with my sugar being high even though I'm eating fat and no sugar. What am I doing wrong

Can someone or Dr. Boz help me with this issue. My diabetic doctor said I need carbs and raised my long lasting and fast acting. I wont to lessen the amount of insulin and high glucose levels. I'm having a hard time with this recommendation

So ketone strips measure ketones in your urine. Once you become "fat adapted" or "Keto adapted" and if you maintain a regular diet for me with intermittent fasting, you may no longer make excess ketones... Sorry I started this after half the video so glad they are... I saw a drop off to minimal excess ketones, then I had a bad day when I couldn't eat and changed my 16 hour fast to 24 hours and then saw moderate to high ketones in excess later.

Dr. Boz, I had a situation where I treated for a low blood sugar. I expected to get knocked out of ketosis, but later that night I was showing more ketones on the urine strip.

NO it isnt. I was on a water fast for 10 days and was drinking at least 3 to 4 litres of water per day. Getting my mineral intakes through oink himalayam salt and cream if Tartar( ptassium) and the ketone strip was at the darkest purple all through. When I stopped the water fast and started eating only ketogenic food with little water, the strip was light pink. So I don't think dark purple means dehydration. It just shows large levels of ketones. One water fast. My body has zero external energy source apart from ketones which was being produced from the stored fats in ny body.. which is why I lost weight yet was energetic all through.

Keto works but honestly I felt awful from the start. I then tried the Agoge diet plan and it also worked, but I did not feel bad at all, so I'm sticking with the Agoge diet.

@@Jsfoxylady 140 isn't dangerous, I wouldn't take any meds if I also was committed to eating no simple sugars and overall low carb every day for the foreseeable future. You know best if your willpower is strong enough 😊 Also they've recently shown precisely how lactic acid released through weight lifting improves insulin resistance so that should make your journey even better. I hope you succeed, my father is a hopeless type 2 so I sympathize
