Nice video! We (my 68 year old wife and I at next month 68) just discovered kettlebells about 4-5 months ago. Now we love them! We also do a 10 minute workout daily. We started smaller weights, she with 15#, me using 25# and now use 20# and 35# respectively. I'm about ready to move up again though. We also have added other short exercises throughout the day, though not everyday yet. Anyway, what we quickly discovered is that NEARLY ALL PAINS WE DID HAVE, HAVE LEFT! I have very bad knees for instance, near nothing since 1970 between the bones after surgery back then, and the other, in terrible shape too, but with our exercise, now I have no pain ever! BTW: we always hike many times every day through our nature preserve, across the creek, up and down some hills and varied woods, so we both always have been very active- just lots of pain too often. And yes, endurance is amazing now. Notice huge difference going up steep inclines and now we often "run around as kids to with our dogs". And strength, oh my, vast improvement for us both and as one kettlebell video fellow stated that these bells will not turn you into "Arnold", but they will turn you into "Greek God Statue Look", he is correct! Both our bodies are changing a lot! My wife is "getting ripped", using an outdated term. Also she (and she tells me I too) have changed to be "totally different in our intimacy, which we have always been "daily lovers" at least for the past 37 years together! In bed, I feel I am with An Amazon Woman Now" (and that isn't the Amazon you buy from --smile. Our flexibility also is greatly increased in every way too. We intend to keep it where we keep gaining, and changing and evolving (hmm, it goes with what we teach, guide and live, as we are writers, lecturers and very active cognitive neuroscientists) using the "bells", but never where we feel "any pain" or really stressing our bodies, in any way, other than pushing ourselves just a tiny bit, here and there. We never have and never will "try to impress anyone", other than maybe "that person in the mirror", as to be honest, no one is worthy of another having to, or even wanting to "impress anyone else"! (That is what is taught as children = make mommy and daddy adore you with ..." BUT that is where each person begins to grow not better, but worse, in mind, body and soul! Hence that is not what we teach and guide but For Everyone To Become Totally Empowered In Every Way, and Enabled in every way and "never needy" or lacking anything, ever. --- What we teach is "Having It All, Always" , just as we have always lived, and Having A Great "Pie Of Life", as with "any great pie": the proper ingredients, the proper amounts, mixed just right, baked at the right temp, for the right amount of time". If Not ALL THAT, then ONE SHITTY PIE (of life), and that is what most people have! (and most don't ever even realize that). We Literally UPGRADE THE BRAIN (re-wire, how it operates to a far higher level of being) and that included as said, the body as one with the mind as one with the soul and more. Nothing about any religion or cult, or anything one has ever read, but our 40+ years of active research using our many companies, businesses and doing/being "many professions" so we could always study, test and experiment with 100,000s of peoples from around the world in all real life situations and times. Hmm, funny but with the current world calamity taking place, this is our largest ever Real Life Laboratory where we now have about 7 billion subjects taking part in our studies! And sadly, all thus far have only proved all our theorems and findings (of human fault) true and factual! Damn and all this we could have prevented, just as divorces, bankruptcies, hate, war, suffering but "That Flaw We Discovered & Most Refuse to even dare admit, cannot be fixed just because of faulty ego and conditioned terribly REACTIONS to What We Know To Be True and To Simple "3 step exercises to FIX ALL ILLS WITHIN ONE SELF". -------Again, thanks for your video! Good luck to you! (and as we always say and mean: if we can ever be of help, just let us know! Thanks again!

Hi Daniel, what an amazing reply, thank you! You are absolutely spot on with everything you say. We are definitely on the same page. For a living I change the way people feel about others, the world around them and most importantly themselves. So we are in the same ballpark there. And you too have discovered the magic elixir that is Kettlebells and their ability to fix what was previously thought to be irrevocably broken. And yes they also enhance you in so many other ways too. Thanks for the offer and who knows one day I might well take you up on it. Stay safe out there

I have 6,10,12,16 and 24kg kettlebells. For a great all body workout these really are probably the best bit of kit you can invest you’re money in. Fantastic for shredding weight as long as you do the exercises correctly. You really can’t go wrong 👍

Great bro! IMO they are a fantastic conditioning and strength building tool. There are endless combinations of workouts you can do with them. Plus you can enter the world of kettlebell sport and compete nationally or internationally over 10 mins to an hour!! Currently in training for a kettlebell half marathon, 30 mins, half snatch, at a comp when we all get back out there. Watch this space for progress and instructional vids

I love the way you put things..."There's something about these cannon balls with handles...that feels like home " . There's more to exercise and working out than just physical. When you understand that, truly engrain that into your soul...then working out at 50...60...70 and beyond just makes perfect sense. You obviously get that. Thank you.....

Kettlebells certainly are fantastic. During lockdown this year all I had was a pull-up bar, a skipping rope and two 20kg kettlebells. I was working out 6 days a week, since I had so much time on my hands. Have never felt as fit or as strong. It's nice to have more stuff, but all you REALLY need are a couple of KB's and your own body.
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer

Brilliant Christopher. I've often been asked if I only had the chance of owing/using one piece of fitness kit what would it be. And my answer time and time again is a kettlebell. Of course you also have your own body to use as well, so as you say sorted!

You are in great shape and very athletic especially for your Age.i added some of your exercises into my training schedule. I would personally recommend you to not drop the 50lb kettlebell into your stretched out tendons.Just saying it could cause injury overtime. Continue getting better in shape as the Ages go up. There is always something new to learn and to improve on. Keep it up👍

Mark Lidster #fitnessgeezer 👍 Mark I hope you don’t mind can I ask a question, like you I train outside in my garage. The winter just gone I got an injury to my neck, although I’ve recovered I’m still weaker on my left side doing certain exercises like pull ups and overhead pressing... I think because I didn’t warm up properly. Any how do you have a special routine for warming up outside in the winter before you start training it would be handy if you could share any insight into winter warm ups. Hope this is cool asking you this, cheers Martin.
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer 4 года назад
Great question Martin. When I'm working out in Winter layering is key. So I dress with plenty of layers on and then remove them as I progress through the warm-up. The warm up will vary depending on the exercise I'm doing, but generally it's dynamic, no static stretching. I'll start with 5 mins of gentle cardio either on the cross trainer or treadmill before I go outside. Sometimes I'll skip outside instead or use a reebok step which is a great alternative. Then I'll use a wooden pole or exercise band to stretch out my shoulders, over the top and back. Then I'll doing overhead squats with pole, bodyweight lunges, arm circles, a few press ups, possibly hang from a bar for 30 secs. Then I'll ease in to the exercise by doing much lighter or assisted versions of it. So if i'm using kettlebells i'll use 12kg ones first before moving up to the 20's. Same with weights.much lighter warm-up sets. Hope that helps
@martinhayward
@martinhayward 4 года назад
@@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer Thanks for your input Mark, I've started doing something similar with the dynamic stretching, I've been using bands to warm up my shoulders since my injury, I don't like to wear to much but I'll take on your advice about more layers next winter, thankfully the weather is warming up now. Hope you enjoy a great summer training I'll keep an eye on your RU-vid posts and stay safe, cheers Martin.

Thank you GlanZelius Kalyleigh. I'm sorry to hear of your wrist injury, TFCC tear, I hope the surgery goes well tomorrow. As long as you have a positive mindset and are consistent in your rehabilitation, i'm sure you will make a full recovery. I broke my bicep tendon at the beginning of last year and six months later I was doing muscle ups at 57 years old. So i'm sure you can come back stronger. Good luck and all the best young man :) Google translate: GlanZelius Kalyleigh、ありがとうございます。

Great stuff! Just getting into them myself. I've been doing calisthenics for years but feel like I have hit a wall..I think these bad boys will help me strength wise and iron out certain deficiencies (shoulder issues..). Question if you don't mind? You seem to be able to balance kettlebell workouts with bodyweight training. How so? Without burning out, is there a protocol you follow? Rest and recovery wise as well as frequency and volume? Anyways, very inspiring stuff :)
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer
@MarkLidsterfitnessgeezer 4 года назад
Hi Petey Pablo, great question. If like at the moment I'm looking to build up my kettlebell endurance strength and skills, I tone down my calisthenics work and just perform light maintenance work on my top moves a couple of times a week. This means working with assistance with bands where necessary to complete the moves at a lighter load. Feel and being in tune with how your body is feeling is very important so as not to overtrain and get injured. Hope that helps and good luck with your training

Absolutely Zephyr642! They are an excellent stand alone exercise for working out the entire body and building foundational strength for future kb work and other sporting moves. I believe they have their roots going back to the gladiator days when you had to be able to lift half your body weight overhead from the ground before you could move on to the next phase of training. Now that would be a good challenge!
