Jacob Racquer you guys are pathetic. What people in general lack is self-love not entrepreneurs lacking charisma. You have to pity talk everything to people so you don't hurt their ego feelings. Fuck that, since the day I learned to love myself I loved the people that told me the truth the most. I love people that tell me what others are too selfish to admit. If I'm not the right one for a girl, I would rather have her tell me straight up I'm not the right one than start being more quiet little by little till I get it. And guess what? I'm an entrepreneur. You don't waste your time being pity with people. Animals who can't put their emotions aside, that's why they don't progress in life.
@Whaatever1027
@Whaatever1027 6 лет назад
Jacob Racquer As I said the majority are such pity snowflakes. So I'm not surprised by your comment. We should make the purge real so we get rid of the weaker genes, making our species better again don't you think? I'm losing brain cells from how dumb people can be sometimes and then knowing they are gonna procreate spreading those weak genes even more... oh gosh its brutal. Thats why I like the medieval age more, you are weak you don't survive only the thug get to live. You have all this past amazing badass leaders like Alexander the great you are not gonna hear that shit again anymore cus we let the weak live.
@Whaatever1027
@Whaatever1027 6 лет назад
Jacob Racquer but go out of man made cities... Thats how nature is! And no ones hates nature for that. If you are weak you are fucked and guess what scientist know we Homo Sapiens are evolving way slower than other species now because we let the weak genes in. If a new predator comes to kill butterflies and you are green color and can camouflage you get to survive, if another one came out sort of brown color or whatever, well you can be seen you are fucked and die. But if they were to be pity like us and let them procreate as well guess what you might end up with part green, part brown genes so you are fucked thanks to the weak genes that are allowed to exist. More butterflies suffer the epidemic and possibly make the specie go extinct if enough time existed to spread the genes everywhere. I don't sound too crazy and arrogant now do I? I'm just following the laws of nature, let the weak die off and keep perfecting our specie.

It was smart of him to ask "which is easier to replace?" If she was truly the love of his life and he felt he would never find another woman like her, and that he could start another similar business, then the business would be easier to replace. If he felt the woman was one of many but the business was one in a million, then the business would be more difficult to replace. He didn't actually suggest that the student give up his woman (although he may have been leading him to that) - it is a solid, legitimate question to ask him, or anyone facing a similar situation. Nicely done

If your business is your true passion (you can insert anything in place of business) then you shouldn't give it up. If a significant other can't accept that your passion can't be given up for anything then they weren't your true love. People are so scared of being alone that they force themselves to fit in with the wrong person. Hold on to your passion and you will find another that can share it with you instead of forcing you to let go of it.

Very well put Dale. The other thing I liked about his answer is it is predicated on ending up with some version of both in the end. If one is replaceable, then there is no sacrifice, merely exchange. But you're completely right if she is truly irreplaceable then he has his answer, and it's a different one than what happened in the story.

@JCleeseVK

It is true, but the important thing is that it has nothing to do with convenience of replacing one or another. If you fiance want`s you to choose between your passion and her, then it really would not work anyway in the mid or long run. Actually, some people are simply not marriage material at all, unless they find someone who completely understands them or is the same with their own passions. I believe marriage can work if people see each other only few hours a day, or even week, but it is very hard to find a perfect pair where both pursue their passions but still having someone to come back at the end. Life is complex, just live it i guess.

My wife and I both built small businesses (kept mine, she sold hers). During this time, our daughter and her husband took many international vacations, bought a time-share, lived large, full week in a suite at Disneyworld, annual passes to multiple theme parks, paid to go to VIP experiences, paid to go to the Bahamas and swim with dolphins, etc. My wife and I over ten years, we'd take a 3-day weekend on Labor Day and Memorial day, drive somewhere out of town for a couple days (and be on our smart phones checking inventory, answering clients, coordinating with vendors, during that time). Today, we are both successful, looking at retiring by age 60, pretty comfortably. Our daughter and her husband, filed bankruptcy and we lease them a house because they can't be approved to rent a place, they have nothing. Our daughter, when we had to coordinate with her recently on forming our revocable trust: "Why don't you guys just share that money with us now, you guys are super lucky and have money, we were unlucky, it's kind of not fair." My wife's response: "Because you have no idea how offensive it is that you think the reason we have money is luck, and you cannot see how your choices versus our choices resulted in where we are all at now." Note: while building our businesses, we actually had some pretty bad beats and bad luck, it was a nightmare at times, so this was especially offensive to us, particularly since all this time, we generously supported her and her husband without thanks to the tune of over $100,000 that if they didn't have, they would have had a hard life. We were stupid to even do that for them, we should have let them feel need, but "the grandkids"... So yes, Kevin, most people have zero clue what it takes to be successful, I agree.

did you ever ask yourself that the bad relationship to your daughter might be (also) your responsibility? you were the ones building it up as she was a child. It's the quality of the woman that matters. You need someone to support your passion BUT also keep you down to earth when you're overdoing it. You need to spend quality time with your family otherwise you'll be a very lonely person and eventually even your own business will replace you. There are wives and husbands who will never betray you (unless if it's to save your kids lives or the world or whatever lol) but businesses who betray their own founders? It has happened to almost every great entrepreneur at some point. Money aint loyal, wont hold your hand and wont be your last thought before you leave this world.

Chaitan Reddy It is not idealistic. What he says is grounded in human biology and psychology. We are social creatures and need social stimulus to function optimally; and as a side note, a supportive and loving family can push you forward and help you excel. Moreover, traditionally, marriage was one of the best business decisions one could make, and still can be, but presently can be a financial pain if you have married the wrong partner; and they subsequently divorce you. Furthermore, though children might be financially burdensome, being a parent helps immensely in putting life into perspective, and the drive to create a better future for your children can be a great inspiration for any entrepreneur or business owner.

This is one of the wisest things on this page. I'm assuming that most of those commenting here are young people who have not lived very much. Many don't seem to understand that there maybe something on the other side of creating your business, like your wife, husband or kids. After you have created that great business what's next? I'm also struck by those who don't realize that life does not go as we want it to, things like sickness, mental health, stress and other sometimes uncontrollable events cause us to need other people in our lives, and wives, husbands and kids are not perfect. Sometimes they will need our attention too. I'm reminded of the saying, "what does it profit a man to gain the world, but to loose his soul."

Attention like a decent conversation not a yes or no answer! Couples don’t need to be together the whole damn time but at the end of the day a decent conversation would be nice. Of course she’s gonna give him an ultimatum even when they’re not married because when you get married it’s for life. It’s not a joke! She would rather know now so he or she doesn’t waste their time. I moved to Atlanta by myself in 2019 after a traumatic breakup with my ex in Chicago. I didn't know a single person here and I slept in a room in the hood on the floor when I started. I work every day on my crafts of music and acting. I went through a long period of isolation. It came with suicidal thoughts and the most awful feelings I never would have guessed. I now have a great, powerful momentum I've built off of sheer will and passion for my art forms. I have a girl I see when I have time but I've known her for less than a year...I've been learning and building my body and mind for 5 years, EVERY DAY, no matter where I've lived. Sure, I miss my family up north while I'm here in GA...but, and this is hardcore truth here, I was born alone and I'll die alone...my work is the central focus of my life. Finally, my ultimate goal is to inspire others to believe in themselves, not to inspire them to believe in a feeling (love/ a relationship). I have a lot of people watching my journey and I won't let myself, and them, down. If I fail at this point, I look like a crazy person who went homeless several times and lost his mind at a point on a whim interest in art. Anyways what I am getting at is to never quit.

It is easier(but not easy) to 'replace' a lover than it is to replace a dream you've worked hard for.

Find a spouse who can endure the journey with you. And together... both of you must work our a mutually appropriate lifestyle. Given your boyfriend or girlfriend ultimatum like this lady did is not fair. Then again we'll need more detail to the story to make a call. Point is if you choose to be in a relationship with an entrepreneur or any one for that matter you must have the heart and be willing to make sacrifices to support them. Else... walk away before it's too late.

I totally agree, there’s no achievement without sacrifice. What puzzle me nowadays is the social media trend. Too many people fall in the false concept that results should arrive instantly. The influencer trend is subconsciously giving the people the idea that to achieve something, sacrifice is not needed. Many people fill their mind with positive words but than most of them don’t move a finger to get things done. Many people are full of expectations and they have the feeling that everything should be granted to them. When they don’t get what they wish, they blame others

Kevin is so right on this If I were to hypothetically hit my goal and Marry a Genius (Hailee Steinfield or anyone else that is a Genius) it will be creativity wise, me making money through MLM will end up finding a person who is an entrepreneur die hard. Now I gotta lose weight since producing has a lot to do with image as well and do something with my life. I got the skill set and I am getting more and more confident about who I am. This year is really a year of improvement and honing the genius and also curating my unipolar so I don't go to the psychiatric hospital again. I AM AN CREATIVE PRODUCER. Anything I do I produce wherever I go.

This is a typical BULLSHIT rationalisation. if you love what you do its not work, this is point everyone misses. ed sheeran isnt thinking "oh shit another day in the studio making money, cant wait for my next vacation“. Warren Buffer, Richard Branson these guys could have retired years ago, they love what they do. Whereas for the normie masses, work is something bad you have to do because its not your true passion, and then you do that to get to the weekend ‘leisure’. It’s the pursuit, growth and self-actualisation of becoming entrepreneur challenging yourself is key, which is something the normie masses don’t understand as they see work as an inconvenience to get to the leisure. Entrepreneurs tend to be most highest growth mindset people etc. This comment is bullshit (I have average income, more to life etc) on standard income you basically repeating same average experiences, work, vacation, barbecue, same conversations with same average friends over and over etc. if you had true freedom, success, wouldn’t have same friends, or wife, picked from scarcity, just happened to be around, went to school not picking from abundance. Just go to ikea, pubs, coffee shops look at the masses, light gone behind eyes, walking zombies, going through the motions, no passion. As Henry David Thoreau said "most men lead quiet lives of desperation" and benjamin franklin "most men dead by 25 we just don't bury them until they are 75” - that is the definition of take it easy, more to life middle classes. Most of whom never went for dreams, have average lives and then to solve this cognitive dissonance when see successful people and say "more to life", "that's hollow" - It's cowardice disguised as virtue. When you go to watch a film based on a true story, or go to concert you're not watching 'normal' people. It's abnormal people that took on challenges, that were obsessed, fully self-actualising. It’s not a film based on a true story, about Dave Smith who got a job, came home watched TV married average wife, went on some vacations, had some beers with the guys, and then died". As a child building lego etc they are fully engaged, you don’t see kids seeing “how can i chill”.
