I agree with you on the software criticism. They need to provide something better than VIA for end users to configure these keyboards. You can configure the keyboard to your hearts desire, but you are going to have to compile and modify your own firmware to do so. That's not the faint of heart. I'm happy with the keyboard though. They just recently uploaded the source code for this one. It's annoying that it wasn't available as soon as the keyboard was available to purchase. I had to wait a couple of months for that.
Recently Keychron has been stepping away from VIA and closed to their own configurator. From what I gather it does seem like it is just a reskin of VIA. Which is a bummer. I think VIAL support would probably make for a better experience but I do not see them supporting that anytime soon.
Been using the K11 pro as a daily driver for 8 months. I honestly haven't noticed any of the downsides you mentioned - VIA worked perfectly and as a programmer I've heavily customized it to fit my needs. I also got the hotswap variant so I can use NuPhy switches. Overall, I'm amazed by how well this thing fits my needs and can see myself using it for a lot longer.

I really wish to have the additional thumb button for K15 Pro like in K11, but I need a separate layer of Fn keys so had to sacrifice that button :( So Keychron please update the layout for K15!!
You might like an acrylic prime_e. Also the greater ergo benefit of an alice isn't the angles, but in the extra thumb keys. You could also look into a 60% with a split spacebar.
Next to the G-key there's room for another macro-key for the index finger. I wish it was possible to modify the pcb. I love thumb keys and extra index finger keys are also nice. First keyboard that I know of with an extra index finger key (next to the N-key). I would want 2 extra index finger keys between the G and H and the B and N, totalling 4 extra index finger keys. Pity that the programmability is not so great in this case.
It's my impression that keychron is investing in it's own keyboard configurator that might support more configurations, but yeah, as is ... it's not so great unless you're willing to learn QMK and flash the keyboard yourself.
It seems you have fall into the rabbit hole of mechanical keyboards. The perfect keyboard with all the features you want does not exist. You must select just some of them. You can still have two keyboards, one at your desk and one on the go. The difference between voyager and ultimate hacking keyboard are huge. Do you know what do you want exactly ? If you want a split ergonomic keyboard with an simple ui to add tap, double tap, hold, tap and hold, you may be interested by dygma raise.
I actually own a Dygma Raise! Got it second hand from Ebay. And yeah ... that perfect keyboard ... it does not exist for sure. The best software I've experience sofar is the stuff that comes out of ZSA. The moonlander and voyager both come with that and I have yet to find a better GUI.
@@calmcode-io yeah after posting this i found out it was Nuphy nice looking keyboard now i'm eye balling it and will see if they gonna have it on sale on amazon prime day
