very cool and unique combination. don't listen to mindless haters, I myself would be really interested in seeing more Keysi combinations. this one is just so simple and compact for self-study.

Keysi is such a wonderful defensive art. I like to improvise with grips and knees incorporated. Coming from a Goju jitsu ryu background. I was really impressed with the results.

It's very similar to Silat in terms of using a specific strike to multiple areas of the body. With keysi being the hammer fists while Silat using elbows. Another things similar is that both styles aren't afraid to drop down to attack to lower body.

@@JoeyBslash3 seems like you’ll get more power from the torque of the hips and shoulders. It’s like the difference between a back fist and a jab.
@JoeyBslash3
@JoeyBslash3 3 года назад
I get what you're saying. A hammer fist is quite powerful when used with the correct body mechanics, just like a hook. Many people don't train hammerfists with using their whole body. The reason for the hammerfist in this situation is because the choreography is based on Keysi aka Defence Lab, which utilizes hammerfists more so than traditional boxing punches. The reason for this is the high hand placement on the head. Hammerfists are already loaded in this protective and attacking position. But whether you want to strike with a hammerfist or a hook is totally subjective 🙂✊👊

@@JoeyBslash3 why throw a hammer fist to their legs swinging your arm down, and not the hook to the body? You'll get more power then

@JoeyBslash3. Hi. I Just recently started watching your videos. Really good. You guys put a lot of effort. I appreciate it. Just one question I'd like to ask. How effective is the Keysi fighting style? How is it compared to Filipino martial arts, Judo, etc.? Does it cover all aspects of defense? It looks cool in movies.
@JoeyBslash3
@JoeyBslash3 4 года назад
Thanks for watching, im glad you found the channel. I find it to be quite effective, but only for fighting using empty hands vs multiple opponents, but that's the only part that I train personally. It's similar to FMA, but less emphasis on weapons training in my experience. But comparing martial arts is totally subjective. It's like asking what you're favorite fruit is, it all depends on your tastes. So you have to ask yourself, what is your purpose in training, and go from there. When you say all aspects of defense, what do you mean?
@amithprem3432
@amithprem3432 4 года назад
Thanks man. That helped. By all aspects, I mean, in KFM you mostly use the pensador which means your movements are limited (this is just what I think;I might be wrong). So, a guy who knows more ways to attack you can maybe use your pensador stance to their advantage. But FMA is quick and employs more ways to defend, including trapping and turning their attacks on them. KFM, you just block and strike. In short, FMA had more ways to defend yourself but Keysi is limited and can be used only against an amateur. What is your opinion on my opinion?This is based on your breakdowns of Bourne's and Jack Reacher's fights. I'm not a martial artist. I don't know.
@JoeyBslash3
@JoeyBslash3 4 года назад
@@amithprem3432 I would say you're mistaken. Thanks for being honest about your knowledge. Don't ever base knowledge of a martial art from a movie or video game, as these are made for entertainment purposes, so what you see isn't necessarily true application. In Keysi, the pensador is first taught as a "defense", but later you learn to use it as a counter offense and attack as well. The pensador is also very dynamic, it isn't just a stance. You are constantly changing ranges with it and positions. True FMA to me is all out blade fighting. The empty hands is based off the mechanics of the weaponry strikes.
@amithprem3432
@amithprem3432 4 года назад
Whoa! Thank you again. So I guess it's not about the martial art but it's how much you know about it and how you use it. Well, I've just seen those moves from Jack Reacher and The Dark Knight. So there's more to it than meets the eye. Thank you man. You guys really put a lot of effort. All the best! 👍👍

Just spent the last hour or so watching Keysi videos and, for me, this technique is about the only thing I've seen that I'm even slightly interested in. I think I'll incorporate this particular drill into my training but the system, over all, doesn't really make me excited or interested in doing much research into it.
@JoeyBslash3
@JoeyBslash3 3 года назад
Hm, that's interesting. Sometimes when looking at it for the first time, it may seem very "defensive" based because of the importance of covering yourself. But once you get into the training, it's very attack and counterattack based from my experience. Thanks for watching though. I can't make official Keysi videos since I'm not an official instructor lol.

you might find this hard to believe, for about 10 years I've been studying and practising 5 forms of martial arts. Karate, kalaripayattu, boxing, jujitsu( with and without the katana) , and an ancient Greek style ( Xiphis, Makhaira, and Falcata/Kopis) I mainly focus part of my attention to the hand to hand aspects of all the styles. I try to incorporate all of them in a single workout session, doing for10-15 minutes for an hour. I've mainly been teaching myself this cause I can't afford classes, but don't worry I use one of my brother's as a sparing partner. anyways, I might start learning keysi as well. funny thing is though before I became fully interested in martial arts, for historical purposes I was learning a British sword style, and I'm really good with it to, wouldn't say I'm the best, but I'm good (I practice with a wooden staff about the length of a sword, still do). when I saw the skill and technique I was acquiring, I thought to myself,"this awesome". this started everything that lead me to this day. my discipline, respect, knowledge, and wisdom I picked up from everything I've learned. so in order it started with fencing, next was the ancient Greek ( I listed the sword types already), about the sametime samurai, then karate, after that boxing, then most recent and finally kalaripayattu. sometimes I try to combine them, like mix moves from one style to a move in another style, it's not as easy as it sounds, but its for fun. it's cool being able to go from one style to another. but I'm better with karate, boxing, fencing and the Greek style. mostly do to the fact I trained with them for longer. anyways sorry for my life story, but that's how it started for me, my love for history. funny how something's lead to others.

JoeyBslash 3, I got my inspiration from historical documents ( I really love history l), a show called deadliest worriers, assassin's creed franchise, and my own blood heritage... and yes self defence and the defence of others. I geuss the true beginning for my training started from Native American martial arts.

Seems a bit primitive in nature with the constant hammer fists. It is a matter of what the situation is action/reaction
@JoeyBslash3
@JoeyBslash3 6 лет назад
+Sr. Bootsnpants it is supposed to be...think about it, our hands aren't meant to strike with the knuckles like we do in boxing or other othodox striking. If you watch apes, if they strike with a fist, it is in a hammerfist fashion, which is much safer in terms of protecting the structure of your hand when hitting something hard like the head. Plus from the hand positiin on the head, it is the most economical way to move the hands for a strike
@redheadboyyy123
@redheadboyyy123 7 лет назад
Im not dissing Keysi. I believe all Martial Arts are good it truly depends on the person doing it. But may i ask why always have your hands on your head. I understand to protect it, but doesn't that leave your sides open? And i wish in films it was a little bit faster. In the Dark Knight franchise it looked a little ridiculous, but in Jack Reacher it was well done. Like i said not hating it. Just curious
@JoeyBslash3
@JoeyBslash3 7 лет назад
+redheadboyyy123 In my research and training, I've found that the hands are not on the head always. It's not like once in a fight, I start moving my hands around my head. The point of the hands on the head is protection, but it is also meant to make an instinctual response of covering up your head to protect it, into an attacking position where you can do serious damage from those positions. It does leave your sides open if you just stand there. However, the pensador is dynamic and can cover your sides, especially if you're in a low stance. Yea, some of the scenes in the dark knight trilogy could've been a bit faster. I might make a video showcasing it more
@redheadboyyy123

JoeyBslash 3 ok that makes since. Thanks for getting back. From my Wu Shu, Sanda, and Hapkido background we never put our hands on the head and rotated them around to adjust for location of impact so i guess it just looks a little silly to me because of the lack of knowledge and the fact I'm not used to it. Still thanks for the help. And actually replying. You didn't have to but u did so mad props for keeping in touch with fans. Good luck with the channel. Huge fan

I've seen it work, but only in specific situations. Keysi seems to work the best when up against a wall, and dealing with an assailant who is aggressing toward you. The other possible situation I have been able to see it useful is in a situation where you are attacked in a car from an assailant who is attacking from the outside. Keysi, if done correctly can be used in these close contact sort of situations. Also, some of the tactics are useful when backed against a wall.

LMFAO! Is this for real? Oh please tell me that this isn't the cringe movie fight scenes come to life, and there are people that take this slap and tickle seriously? There is everything wrong with this crap. Every bit of this left a vital portion of a major body part open to being hit. If this is how someone trains, it ain't for fighting for real. Cute for fantasy land people.
