The Marvel series, Moon Knight, draws heavily from Ancient Egyptian Mythology. The show models its god after a violent ancient deity who is a complicated figure. He is a powerful killer but also regarded as a healer and protector by his worshippers. In this episode I work through the ancient pyramid and coffin texts and compare Marvel’s depiction of Khonsu, the Moon god, to that of the ancient Egyptians.

They were inspired to address the deity as Khonshu out of respect, so that the deity Khonsu as they are currently understood would not be confused with the fictional character. Assertions that the older understanding of the deity Khonsu is the one being referred to stretches things a little as the older vengeful version was considered a warlike Sun deity like Horus. Arguably the protective nature of Khons over those who travel in darkness (arguably those lacking spiritual illumination) has been interpreted more modernly as protecting the travelers of the night (hence the reclassification from a Sun God to a Moon God). What you believe is up to you.

Your spoken tracks are still crap. The problem is not your mic. What you need is better acoustics--heavy curtains or soft furnishing to soak up the reverb, or, for real class, put up acoustic tiles. Close miking also helps, and might be the best way forward. (I'm a sound engineer, BTW.) Apart from this, excellent production.

I appreciate the advice. I bought a mic. I’ll have to look into the other parts.

Nicely done, but at least 7,000 you mean, unless you think Egypt civilization only goes back to 3,000 BC. You’re forgetting the 2,000 years AD part. It’s highly likely Egyptian civilization extends far further back than 7,000 years.

I’m with you in terms of Egypt being much older. I’m referring to what we call the old kingdom and the presumed dates of the pyramid and coffin texts. but a lot of the timeline with Egypt that seems to be wrong or even manipulated. I hope archeologists find more out and we can find out more definitively.

Why is the "p" silent in either of the words in English? It's not originally silent

Incredibly interesting topic! I’m enjoying watching your videos and find them very informative and fascinating, and include excellent graphics. An intelligent man who converses well, has a great sense of humor, researches history, increases his knowledge and shares it in a humble and entertaining way is incredibly attractive to intelligent females, particularly sapiosexuals. I’m very surprised you don’t have ladies eagerly looking to date and get to know you better, or perhaps your earlier comment is a spot of self-deprecating humor? Hard to decipher…you seem to be a great catch! There’s a wonderful quality lady out there for you, amongst a sea of vapid Barbies who get more spotlight and bandwidth. A virtuous wife, her price is above rubies…meaning she is more valuable than rubies to you. As a Janeite Eowyn, it took me a long time to find my Faramir and Mr Darcy/Mr Knightly, but he was worth the wait. May you be wonderfully blessed with a beautiful faithful loving wife who adores you and provides you with a peaceful home and well-raised children. Aloha and Shalom!

great video but i doubt the ancient egyptians even sometimes practiced cannibalism this would go against their raising cattle and sheep and farming as your video suggests. there is also no ritual sacrifice unlike the Aztecs etc. and i wonder where the hell the aztec pyramids were around 2000 bc?
