My engine G4FC 1.6 sounds the same. I'm worry about this, especially of unexpected breakdown or something similar. Do You have any issue with this engine during operation/driving? Missing oil? Any additional sound like metal impact inside engine during higher RPM - 1200-2500 rpm? How long do You have this noise in engine and how many kilometers driven with this sound?
@@peponas87 No, not yet. I'm observing this sound and behavior of engine. One month ago I was in KIA service and he did not reconginze any signs to worry about. And they said it is very quite as a Ceed :) . I compare on cold start with my friend 1.4 ceed (this motor is almost the same) and we agreeded that my friend engine noise was a little louder - we can say worse in this case. And for today he has no any problem with the engine. One thing what I recongnize is when ambient temperature is higher then engine works quiter. Second thing what I observe is if you start engine in for exmaple Ta=2C degree and start driving almost immidietly the noise is very loud and keep for almost all time only when engine is hot i a little quiter. But If you start driving for about 2-4 mintues after start engine (in example after preparing to drive) the noise is quiter. If the ambient temperature is higher time for quiter engine is shorter. I thing the reason of this behavior is temperature of oil. In october or beginning of november I had situation the engine works quiter (it was rattling but not very loud) and after engine warm up it was very quitet (almost or the same when I bought the car) and the temperature Ta was 8C degree. So I'm a little bit confuse about this rattling noise. Service said that is the characteristic of this G4FC engine. Well I can agree with this opinion after comparing with friend but not in 100%. I personally would rather tend to the symptoms of the chain tension problem. For me this very strange because when I bought car I remember the noise was quiter. I did not record any video from this time so I can not be sure in 100%. This is my feelings based on my memory. I recroding video when I recognize it engine working louder. But also the Ta go down from 12C to 6C and lower, so maybe this the reason. Meanwhile after 800km of bought's day I change the oil. New oil nothing change in this case. To be sure if this chain problem I will must take down chain hood. The finger method does not tell me anything because the chain does not go up, maybe gently when I touch the finger. Better option is take down the hood. I am not going to pull it off at the moment. I will continue to observe the behavior and oil level. I bought a stethoscope, maybe it will dispel doubts. If I play with it, I will let you know.
My story so far: I bought the car last year. The precat was missing. I placed a new one (metallic this time). At this point I noticed the noise. I changed oils (10W30) with no apparent result. Then I have the valves adjusted, the head repaired/rebuild and the chainset changed. The season was spring and the ambient temperature went up. Because the engine was opened, the mechanic told me that there is no problem with the pistons. I noticed that the clicking noise was still there, but lowered down in volume. Then, when the ambient temperature dropped, the rattling noise (can be heard in the cabin ) and the engine knock appeared again. As soon as I startup the engine, the noise is not there. When the car reaches operating temperature, the noise pops up again. I changed oil again this time 5W40 and new filter. Noise still there, no change. When I accelerate (and generally the car is under load) the noise is not there, only when idling and cruising without pressing the accelerator pedal. Could you provide ideas, videos etc?
@@peponas87 Well I see that You preformed renovation of your motor. In my case the rattling is louder on cold state not when motor warm up. Today was 6C degree on the morning. When I started engine it was knocking/rattling. I wait 2-3 mintues before drive. The noise was a little louder when I started moving a car than after warm up the engine. When motor achieved stable temperature the noise become quiter. It was still there but not that loud in cold state. Your issue I think is diffrent than my. But also observe that rattling is louder during idle cycle of working engine. I have similar feelings but I must check for sure. It is hard to determine the real root cause of your or my issue. But I observe many video on YT and read couple threads on polish KIA forums and I'm rather inclined to agree that maybe it's the specificity of these engines in my case. For me, the most important thing is whether the oil will decrease because it would mean that there is a probebly problem with the pistons. In your case it is harder to explain what is the problem, especially when You replaced almost half most importants thnigs in engine. Probably the most common thnigs that maybe be a root cause of rattling.
@@Adi0207 That's true, when the car is warm but idling, there is the normal chain rattling and a background knocking noise coming from left side of the engine. It could be just resonance. I do not have oil leaks so the pistons I assume are OK. The mechanic told me that there are no scuffs on the cylinder liners. One more thing, noise is not so loud when the car is under load. I think that if there is a problem, is a design one.
