@@dianetan5790 Then people like you cry how the police are mean to people for investigating them for crimes. What a heroic keyboard warrior you are. Making the world a better place one brave keystroke at a time. How could society exist without you? 😅😂🤣
The other issue is that once something is deemed easy to steal it doesn’t matter if a “working” fix was implemented. Kia/hyundai cars look great, but the risk of loss is higher unless you’re garaged.
Insurance companies should be fined for failing to do what they’re supposed to which is offer insurance. Major corporations have gotten away with ripping off consumers for far too long. Also, the manufacturers should also be fined for failing to address the issue and repay all consumers who purchased their vehicle. The problem here is Corporations know they can screw over consumers because they own the government which looks the other way when they commit crimes.
I do feel as though Tik Tok is partly responsible but also Kia is responsible because why would you produce cars this easy to steal. I heard that with the US companies they test to see how easy it is to break in their cars.
Every State Attorney General should file a Lawsuit against the social media companies who left user videos up on how to steal these vehicles instead of terminating their accounts of the user showing how to steal the affected Kia models. Also the Fix does nothing they've still been successfully stolen. My advice trade it in on another brand.
That would be a 1st amendment violation as the govt has no power to regulate what the public says. The DOJ lost a similar case 9-0 in the supreme court a short time ago over guns.
How about the thieves get locked up have to pay thousands in fines to the owner. make a public apology and also their family is banned from receiving any welfare or other government assistance. Problem will stop asap. momma gonna keep those kids in the house
@jameylane1591 There will always be scum out there. KIA made their cars easier to steal than a cheap bicycle. Mind you, only in the US. In nearly all other Western countries, immobilizers are mandatory on all new cars since the mid '90s. I had a 1995 Ford Fiesta without an immobilizer as my first car, and it wasn't a difficult car to steal. But it was like Fort Knox compared to modern KIAs. At least you needed the key to remove the lock cylinder from my old Ford without breaking anything.
Those cars were optioned without immobilizers to make them cheaper, it's not kias fault the cheapest trim is a target for thieves, just add an immobilizer and you're good
Insurance companies are a business and are in business to make money, however they mostly haven’t been profitable in the last few years because of so many factors leading to a plethora of enormous claim payouts. It’s easy for a consumer to call them a thief, but if you think about it they make sense. I wouldn’t insure those cars either.
@@LeahB31then don’t call yourself an insurance business it’s that simple. Both the car manufacturers and the insurance companies need to be held to account. It’s the same with health insurance it’s all a big scam. They make more profit they more they refuse to cover claims or deny coverage.
Kia and Hyundai have know about this for 10+ years and kept making the cars the same way. My sister convinced my niece to buy a Hyundai in January, before they even went to the dealer i told her to keep her away from those two makes, she didn't listen. No insurance company would insure the car but they would allow liability 3 weeks ago someone hit her and insurance still hasn't paid out. My cousins Kia was stolen while they were at an event in New Orleans, they thought they forgot where they parked, it was stolen, insurance paid and told them they would not insure another Kia.
@@jazziez6467 I am aware, that's exactly what I said, the car couldn't be insured, liability is insurance on you harming someone else. What I stated was that my niece was hit, it wasn't fault therefore it's the other person's problem, but if she had collision coverage her insurance would have paid while she waited.
@@peryolesomebody's also gotta have good insurance, being "comprehensive " is not enough. The problem is low quality insurance companies and policies aka cut rate insurance. So you might have comprehensive coverage but your insurance policy doesn't cover a rental car. Then if your car is stolen or too damaged to drive, you could have to pay for an expensive rental car, and insurance companies can take months to make a decision and pay out to you.
they have no right forcing me to get car insurance & denying me insurance at the same time because of car theives that I'm not responsible for creating
@@frankmacleod2565ah he’ll nah. You’re a pussi’” for that 😂. We all know that democrats are this country’s problem at this moment, as they spend spend spend, but don’t actually do anything. They want to take guns away but never put criminals in jail. They charge carbon tax and prevent car modifications to “save the planet” but will start charging a mile tax in California. It was never about climate change but about the money.
Let's see if this makes sense; KIA makes a car that can easily be stolen. They don't tell prospective owners. The state & lien holder require insurance. Law enforcement is paid to stop criminal activity, but fails. The buyer who likes the car, can't get insurance after purchasing, so the car has to be sold or traded at a loss. The buyer is the victim of lies and failure of government to do it's job it was paid to do. So who helps the victim / buyer?
Wrong, more like KIA and the insurance companies. Both have failed to do their jobs. This is why regulations are necessary to prevent consumers from being ripped off by major corporations. I remember a story saying All State will not stop offering coverage to home owners in states strongly affected by severe storms. That’s pure greed. Insurance companies make more money and turn a profit the more they decide to deny coverage or cover claims. These insurance companies are ripping off consumers but the government looks the other way because corporations bought the government so they’re able to get away with financial crimes.
I believe the city of Abq is suing TikTok due to a woman getting murdered trying to get her Kia back. Some 13 year old stole it, she tracked it down, and was killed. They also included that crime and theft have been heinous
If the citizens are forced to buy overpriced insurance for normal cars, then insurance companies should be forced to sell underpriced insurance for abnormal cars!!!
@@LeahB31You must work for an insurance company or family does. You're all over the place desperately defending them. Let me save you the stress. They're evil. They're soulless. I've seen many good people, truly good people absolutely disgustingly treated by the insurance companies they paid into for decades. And not just a couple of people - multiple different scenarios. Widows, families, you name it.
I bought a 2016 KIA Soul and my insurance premiums just about doubled. Progressive insurance won't even touch these cars. Had the car dealer told me about the theft issue I would not have bought it. I suppose one good thing is that it is a manual transmission, which would make it harder to steal since it seems that people do not know how to drive stick shifts.
People also don’t know how to buy good reliable cars ….. the fact the only problem you have with a Kia is that it’s easily stolen tells me you’re clueless about cars . Take someone with some knowledge with you next time maybe
Get a The Club steering wheel lock for any car you buy. If tiktok, youtube, instagram and other social media are teaching kids how to steal cars then they should be liable for the thefts.
They cut the wheel and remove the club. A hidden fuel shutoff switch is the only solution to them not being able to steal a vehicle, can't drive with no fuel.
Get the BRAKE Club, NOT STEERING WHEEL Club! Designed by a State Trooper. Lock can't be picked. Made out of steel. Can't drive without brakes. Only way to remove it is to cut off the brakes, which defies the point of taking the car in the first place.
@@tqlla not true , a certain part of the vin signifies year model. For all cars - The 10th character in the 17-character VIN represents the vehicle model-year. This standard applies to vehicles built in or after 1981. Before 1981, the VIN format was not standardized and varied by manufacturer. per google.
I got a Jaguar, mainly because I liked it; but was guaranteed it would never be stolen - dealer literally said, “Nah, no one wants it. We (Jaguar) only sell like 10k cars worldwide so thieves won’t make money off selling it for parts” 😆 …and looking at what she was paying for insurance; she could probably afford one and it’ll last like a year or two longer than the Chevy 😅
Nothing is wrong about it. Finding flaws in a security system isn’t new. In the computer world, there is a whole market dedicated to finding vulnerabilities and sharing the information. It’s done to build more secure systems and better products.
Kia should be forced to pay back all the money they made for selling these faulty cars back to consumers to purchase newer vehicles. They knew of the problem but refused to fix the issue.
My neighbor has a old 2008 Honda and his insurance tried to add 100 dollars more because the vehicle is old, it's deem unreliable, and a high risk. Insurance companies just wanna rip off people more.
Insurance companies are the true criminals. There are always ups and downs with crime or certain vehicles that get into accidents. That's why we get insurance to spread the cost between all. Insurance companies are not there to insure, it's there to steal. When something happens to your car what happens, they low ball you and you have to sue insurance company after years of paying.
The Hyundai Gamma 1.6L had bearing problems, thankfully there was a recall... dealer had my car for 3 months because of course it happened in June 2020.
Engines are Not meant to last 200k 😂 slap yourself. How Long do your shoes last wearing them everyday 5yrs Ha. Things wear out but engines are not designed like they were in the 90s. Just something we have to get used to now.
German cars have had immobilizers since the '90's. American cars even longer. Honda added immobilizers in 2000. Toyota about the same time. Kia and Hyundai, 20 years later "we don't need no thinking immobilizers..." It's not like none of their cars have them. They just decided to save a few bucks on their cheap cars.
This is also going to happen to everybody's home insurance due to increasingly worse weather. Thunderstorms are causing big damage nowadays that in some states insurers refuse to cover homes or the coverage is very poor, and even if your part of the state wasn't hit by bad weather just being nearby can cause you issues.
Always love when people pull out the "Crimes going down" statics. Not because you know crime is stopping, just people stop reporting it and the police never make any convictions.
Its the l@w that you have to have insurance for your vehicle. Correct? Then why does the car insurance companies have the right to either cancel ans/or reject new/old customers? Why do they have the right to raise rates where people can't afford car insurance?
It’s a scam. That’s how they turn a profit. You see it the same way with health insurance and home insurance. I remember a story saying All State will no longer cover insurance claims for homes in areas strongly affected by hurricanes. They don’t want to pay out and they own the government so they look for ways to not pay or raise premiums. They can’t be a profitable business by paying 100% coverage. These weasel corporations are greedy scum. Insurance companies needs to change their names because they’re not exactly what they claim.

I live in South Carolina. Many of my neighbors drive Hyundais and have recently been replacing them with brand new or newer Hyundais. I guess the models they drive aren't high theft risks. They drive Santa Fes or Sonatas.
I live in eastern PA. Allstate was glad to take me, but I remember State Farm straight up telling me they will not insure my 2016 Hyundai Accent. Farmers and The General were astronomical, meanwhile Allstate and Progressive were the only reasonable prices. Mind you, I had an alarm system in it, too.
My dad has a 2016 Kia Sorento, and both of my grandmothers own Hyundais. My dad and one grandmother insured their cars years ago, while my other grandmother just bought a 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid in Januaury. I think she uses Erie Insurance. My dad recently switched to Progressive about a year ago, and they covered his Kia Sorento without a problem. It appears Progressive is more accepting on Kias and Hyundais in Pennsylvania. I'm not sure how they do it or if they are more stricter in big cities like Philadelphia, Reading, Harrisburg, York, and Pittsburgh, but I live in a more rural area. Maybe they do background checks for Kia and Hyundai owners in those areas, I don't know.
It’s cause some of the cars weren’t fitted with an immobilizer. If the computer doesn’t detect the right signal from the key chip it shuts off. A lot of Hyundai and Kia models didn’t have this
The question is: why you looking up information on how to steal a car? Questionable 😂 The car manufacturer should be held liable for knowingly selling a car with a known defect and continuing to market it to consumers. It’s simple regulation. If immobilize technology is incorporated into all known cars now it should be regulated the entire car manufacturer industry input the technology into all cars during manufacturing. The same way regulation was put in place to mandate seat belts be placed in all vehicles for consumer safety. Corporations hate regulations because it costs money because they hate to minimize their profit margin. A wind fall profits tax needs to be put into place to prevent these greedy corporations from committing fraud and the profits from the windfall profits tax should be paid back to consumers.
Northeast Ohio here....went to get new insurance through Progressive and the first question they asked was if I owned a Kia....I don't but I asked why and they told me they won't insure them.
Had a 2020 Kia Sportage bought brand new. Perfect car no problems until this theft issue came along. As time passed and thefts became more prevalent wife and I became more and more anxious about the possibility of her Kia getting stolen. Then our insurance went up after 3 years with a theft warning. Got the software upgrade but I quickly realized same as the insurance companies do that the thieves will still break in trying to steal doing costly damage to the vehicle. Was able to trade it in on a new 2024 Mazda CX5. Did get payoff fortunately but the first thing out of the sales managers mouth when negotiating the trade in value was the Kia theft issue. All car dealers are aware of this theft issue but many potential customers are not.
Sounds similar to what the dealer said when we traded in my wife's 2019 Kia although it was actually stolen from us and recovered - The sales manager at the dealer didn't even want our trade due to the negative stigma initially but they ultimately offered us fair market value to get the deal done - We actually looked at the Mazda CX-5 too and the wife liked it but got a slightly better deal on a 2024 Buick Envision.
@@GNMi79 Why? The wife and I liked them both but we got a better deal on the Envision. It's a surprisingly nice car actually, she's been driving it for 4 months so far and loves it.
@@Stressless2023 Durability, that's why. Any car will be fine for four months. But what about five or ten years from now? I keep my cars for 25 years, and I'm convinced that it's only possible because I always buy Japanese vehicles.
@@GNMi79 You couldn't pay my wife to drive something that outdated for starters lol most modern vehicles will last five years no matter what they are, hell most factory warranties last that long and we don't keep any of our vehicles after the warranty runs out anyway - Ultimately our Buick is just as nice as the Mazda and we do not need a car to last a million years or a million miles, the next owner(s) can absolutely worry about that when we trade them in.
KIA should be responsible. And this insurance dropping is getting out of control. Insurance can just deny you for no cause, then cant speak about private matters to the media???
How about you hold TikTok accountable? You can videotape and post yourself doing something dumb or illegal committing a felony but if you say the word fuck or offend someone’s feelings you get reported lol. @@trainerkam3218 That's the truth. I had a vehicle that was paid off. Got in an accident. The insurance company considered it totaled and I had to pay them, to get the vehicle back to fix it myself. Makes absolutely zero sense.
@@trainerkam3218 That's not true, and it's a fairly narrow minded view of insurance companies and the free market. Insurance plan premiums are based on the risk associated with owning a certain type of vehicle and that vehicle's replacement value, as well as other factors. If you own a vehicle that is high risk, in this case higher risk of theft, then you're more likely to pay a higher premium. That's why it always makes sense to research vehicles BEFORE you buy them. Insurance companies HAVE to be profitable in order to stay in business, just like any other business. That's capitalism and the free market! As it should be.
So sad that good citizens can't afford the things they need just because of theft . What a world we in rn , so they let bad guys get away and good citizens still have to suffer.
I bought a 2001 pt cruser in 2004 went to get insurance and the agent told me, my premium was going from I think was $200 a month to $1200 a month, because they are death traps, I dropped my policy and went to another company, and the original company I had for 24 years with only one claim, and only one ticket that was not related to the claim, since then I feel insurance is a scam when you don't have any claim or any tickets, and you still pay outrageous rates
Nah, it’s KIA for failing to correct the issue. They knowingly sold a car with a known defect and still continued to sell it despite that knowledge. Car manufacturers need to be held accountable. Corporations need to be held accountable for consumer fraud.
Um NO... BLAME THE INSURANCE COMPANY. The state requires insurance and then insurance companies don't want to pay out. PERIOD. NOT OUR PROBLEM, THEY DECIDED TO BE THE INSURANCE COMPANY.
@@privatecitizen1246 An insurance company has the right to determine whether they want to provide protection to HIGH RISK customers. If you don’t like it, don’t buy a KIA….or dump the one you got. The manufacturer doesn’t give a crap about their customers, so why should you?
I do drive a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black. That is the brand of cars that I do drive. They were mostly Fords. I drove one car that was a 2011 Mercury Milan. That car had Ford logo stickers around underneath the hood and trunk areas. It was the same interior as a 2010-2012 Ford Fusions. I grew up of my parents having mostly Ford’s vehicles.
Yeah, she can insure the Chevy. Here if your insurance is expired the cops can tow your car and arrest you. Insurance is a crazy scam and prices went wild when it became required.
She should have traded it in for a Jeep Renegade, instead. When the Soul came out, it was wildly popular. So The Chrysler group released the Renegade. No, it's not even an actual Jeep vehicle. Just has the outside styling of one. But they made it to look-a-like to the Soul. Doubt they'll ever openly admit that fact, but just look at the two vehicles.
This is why I am glad I drive a Chevy. Not only do rappers always rap about them and praise the brand so much, but they are very cool. Not the crossovers, but the sedans, coupes, and all that.
Only makes sense to morons. I live in Beltwayland: Lots of blacks, Hispanics, Latina ( they're different), LOTS of KIAs, no huge theft problems. Guess having lots of guns "TO PROTECT MYSELF AND PROPERTY" still isn't working eh? Keep telling yourself you need to give money to a billionaire, Comrade. 😐
I have a Honda and Toyota, I love both, but my KIA handles just as well and I love the gas mileage and easy drive ability of the KIA Forte LXS. I have been in my right mind for years. Sounds like you are in your left mind. Sorry your mind left you sometime back.
My insurance company told me that they don’t accept Kia Hyundai Honda because they are too easy to steal. This was the warning that I got when I wanted to purchase a new car insurance insurance for my new car because I’m not a moron I bought a Nissan. They immediately accepted my new car and gave me a low monthly quote. It’s super easy just buy a good car.
Chargers/Challengers are the same. I once told a guy who had a nice, blinged out top-of-the line version he needed to get an after market starter disabler. Four months later I got a random call and it was that guy. He said 'thank you for the advice' - he had done what I suggested so all he ended up with was a smashed window and steering column, but that was it. One of the thugs trying to jack his car got shot by a neighbor and was found at a hospital. The other two were identified by the customer's dash camera with in-car video that got perfect pics of them. Turns out the thugs had impressive bank accounts so his attorney is going after every dime.
KIA and Hyundai suck, and that’s the truth, but I don’t think they’ve lost enough customers, in fact, most people are drooling over the new designs and tech they give you on the new models. Just go look at the video reviews for KIA’s and Hyundai’s. People talk about how "great" they are now and how they are even "better" than Honda 🤣
Traded in my wife's 2019 Kia Forte due to theft - Our insurance actually covered the damage THEN dropped us after whoever stole it left it in the middle of the street out of gas 2 cities away smh.
I still don't understand what the problem is with them. They don't have engine immobilizers that kill the engine if they get stolen? I've owned six cars in my lifetime, the latest one being 2014 Nissan, and none of those six cars had an engine immobilizer. And one of them actually got stolen. Never had a problem getting any of them insured.
kia soul is a gem in driving easiness index, she gonna have hard time moving from it to a gas gizzling truck 😢😢 i dont kniw why honda discontinued their element car
DON'T BLAME THE INSURANCE COMPANIES! I sympathize with her, but let's understand insurance companies charge premiums and decisions on whether to offer coverage based on statistical risks. People with poor driving records will pay more because they pose a higher risk. An $80k Porsche will cost more to ensure than an $80k Chevy Silverado because of statistical risks. Because of the ease of stealing Kia and Hyundai models, insurance companies are forced to raise rates or deny coverage because if the vehicle becomes a statistic, the insurance company ends up paying for the $20,000 to $40,000 vehicle.
Well then they shouldn’t call themselves an insurance company. The insurance company needs to remove itself from the market. It’s the same with health insurance. The more they deny claims the more money they make and maximize profits. It’s a grotesque system. All State is now denying insurance for homes in areas strongly impacted by severe storms like hurricanes and tornadoes. Insurance companies are all fraudulent businesses and should stop calling themselves insurance companies because they overcharge, cover less, and look for ways to deny coverage or cancel coverage. Premiums are also a scheme. You pay monthly for coverage but you don’t get what you paid for they’re just taking your money and making a profit out of it. The insurance companies need to be regulated or pay some penalties for consumer fraud. Health, homes, and cars should not be in a for profit system it leads to issues like this and the manufacturers need to be held accountable as well. A heavy fine needs to be imposed on them to allow the consumers to be paid back or at the least be offered a newer vehicle at the same price they paid for that car. Corporations have been ripping off consumers for years because they know the government will refuse to hold them accountable.
Software update fixed it. She would have received several letters from Kia telling her to get the software updated. Companies will insure them after the update.
Auto and Home insurance has been increasingly hard to get regardless of your status, Insurance companies are looking for ways to get your money and then cancel you allowing them to keep your money
I know people that have them and love them My friend had an 04 Sportage. She was hard on cars. Drove like a maniac, never did any maintenance It survived
Kias and Hyundais make up 80% of the cars in South Korea, and they have the exact same easily-stolen models we have. Amazingly, their auto-theft rates are very low. I wonder why that is???
Considering that car insurance is not optional, insurers should not be able to refuse coverage. Or drop coverage based on a vehicle make. If it’s sold legally in the US it must be insured.
Liberty Mutal went up on my insurance, and they told me they do not care if I buy a separate security system for my car or if I get a software upgrade my insurance will go up. And, I have gap insurance years before the insurance increase so I shouldn't be paying extra
That bill showed a premium of $7209. I don't believe she was paying that. Nobody's paying that for car insurance, unless they have a six-figure car. If the Kia was almost paid off, she should have done what she had to in order to get the money to pay it off now, then all she would need is liability coverage. Her insurance company still would have covered her for that. Just go without collision/comprehensive coverage. Lots of people do.
But if it gets stolen you basically lost whatever you paid for the car At least full coverage gives you some of your car's value back But liability won't give you anything
why would you want insurance on a KIA ? HA HA are they even worth it to waste the money? if I had to own one a would leave the keys in it and take it to the hood
Yup, driving a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and was looking at insurance. I have a spotless record at 38 and quotes coming in at 200-300 a month when our 2020 Subaru was 70ish to insure. I talked to a rep off the clock and he basically said if you want to knock the price down I'll have to put about a grand of security features in it. Killswitch, added alarms, reinforcement etc.
I have a 2023 Kia forte GT with a manual transmission and it is actually a little bit cheaper on insurance than the automatic version because it is more theft resistant. also the manual in the Kia forte GT is faster than the automatic too
