"Simplicity, reliability" Is it though? There's some interesting stories around Nivomat in previous gen Sorento. And the build quality seems to be somewhat interesting too.
Thanks for the review. Picking up my PHEV version this week. Bought an e-Niro last year which has been brilliant and is staying. Have got rid of my discovery and replaced with the Sorento. Just so impressed with the build quality after my last 4 cars have all been JLR (2 XF’s, an XE (big mistake) and a Disco 5). It is a strange experience for me to own a car that has NO rattles and where the electrics work! Well done Kia.
@@davcayman When I picked it up, I didn’t love it as much as our e-Niro but it is growing on me. I really liked the full electric driving experience of the e-Niro, and it is not the same in the Sorento: much more like a traditional petrol engine car. On the whole it does exactly what is expected and I have had no rattles or issues that have needed any attention. Any annoyances are very trivial, for example the app does not include pre-heating or cooling on the Sorento which is included on the same app for the e-Niro…. This may also be user error! All in all I would buy it again. Most of my journeys are short and I charge up every day. The petrol engine is more than adequate on the motorway for those occasional long trips. Works for my lifestyle. Hope you enjoy whichever car you decide upon. All the best.
@@nickblunden3557 Many Thanks Nick, much appreciated. It’s great to get feedback directly from an owner. I haven’t gone full electric yet but do need the extra space hence looking keenly at the Sorento and Santa Fe. I like that I can drive an EV for short distances but have the patrol engine for the longer journeys when needed. I’ve previously owned Mercedes, Land Rover (Discovery) and Lexus, I’d never considered Hyundai or Kia before now but I’m very impressed with the overall packages offered relative to the other brands. Decision time
@@NobbyOnCars very impressive great reviews btw keep em coming ooh one question any sign of the new generation 6 Honda crv getting a review any time soon ? ✌️
For affordable and dare I say luxury SUV’s Hyundai/Kia are nailing it . Aside from badge snobbery, much more bang/tech for your buck. Perfect for families. Nice review:)
Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Not luxury, rather, near luxury. The leathers and material are adequate (plastics rather than real metal or wood) but not top quality.
@@PatOConnor-hs3wu What you call "nitpicking" I call keeping it real. Its also not the best Sorento. The original Sorento could go off-road, these newer generations cannot. I'm saying its not a great value (its one of my top 3 best in its category), just don't get carried away with the hyperbole. After all, there's a reason Genesis exists.
@@krane15 you're claiming leather as only adequate, it's nappa leather, bmw using it for years and ýears, hard wearing, and reliably dependable. You're giving an opinion, as you're entitled to, but I am also giving my opinion, which I completely disagree with you on. Whats genesis got to do with the conversation, I never mentioned genesis, no nothing of the brand?
Hi, great review. Really nice the see something from Ireland. When you’re doing the reviews can you show the seat height for the driver. I have a dodgy back and the more upright the seat the better for me.
Hi Nobby Great review, again! Which model/spec of the Sorento would you reccomend? (Long journeys the odd time with almost daily 40km trips...) Would the diesel version be good? When will you be reviewing the new Sorento? Keep up the great work 💪👍
Great review, I was thinking of going for a second hand previous model, this spec has convinced me to bite the bullet and buy new I like the trim, the boot space and the ride as conveyed during your drive. That’s never happened before!
3 children to cart about but cant decide on a brand new hev top spec Sorrento or a year old touareg black edition diesel? Both the same money but worried about the resale value of the kia, but worried about diesel future aswell, here in England, so confused.. Great channel the best on you tube..
Great review. Hyundai/ Kia are really nailing it despite badge snobbery. They are creating superb family SUVs at a reasonable price point. Bang for your buck!!
Some size of a bus! Great review and great to see mpg getting an honourable mention too tho' I'll be honest and say it's too big and expensive for me but for what you're getting it's very well kitted out.
Love the channel, generally, but can I offer one bit of critical feedback: I know it's often cold and wet in Ireland, but it would help the sound for the viewer, no end if you swapped your Goretex-type jacket for a soft-shell as it rustles something chronic. The problem is, once you hear it, it stays dialled in and begins to do your head in. Many thanks 👍🏻
The rear door button is under the 'e' of Sorento I just bought the diesel and its superb, I'll run it until i can buy an electric car same size same price Thanks, really good review!
On mainland UK, as of yet the lone diesel model is the mid-range 4x4, which loses the sunroof, seat memory, Bose stereo, cooled seats and head-up display found on top spec models. They still have a spectacular amount of kit despite this and the only thing I wish mine had is the seat memory. I have actually replaced a Volvo XC90 with this. It goes as well, has even more kit, less road noise and is £15,000 cheaper. I think it is going to be even more economical as well, because diesel cars improve over the first 20,000 miles and I’m easily getting 37mpg from this already and it has covered less than 200 miles total. The Volvo D5 ended up averaging 38, but the first 10,000 miles it was more like 35mpg.
What are you on about? The 2021 is not the midrange, it goes the furthest on a tank, it can pull the most, since it has the most torque. and have seatmemory mem 1 & mem 2.. It has Bose stereo. Cooled seats and headup display. Are you on some bad crack or something?
I’ve just taken delivery of one of these. There is no external boot button, so you need to carry the key. If the car is locked, you just need to stand behind the car and it opens the boot. Otherwise you need to press the button on the dash or on the remote keyfob.
@@TheVedabuss You are absolutely correct. I just checked. The reason I thought that there was no button is because I was specifically told this by the dealership owner who handed the car over to me. He obviously couldn't find it himself. It is there though and like most of this car, apart from lane keep assist defaulting 'on' with every cold start, it is actually very well designed. Thanks for pointing it out. If you know how to alter the Lane Assist default either to 'off' or 'warning only' at a cold start, I'd appreciate it.
Thank you for the great review. K4 should have the option to extend the thigh support. Can you estimate how many cm that ads to the lenght of the seat?
Kia really upped their game. Great review. My concern as a father with all SUV cars is swerve avoidance ability . Not something you could do on these tests but I remember Mike brewer and Jason Plato nearly toppled a Mitsubishi on swerve test many years back. Scary how easy it can be to turn over high sided vehicle.
Think I remember that actually. This thing has a beep / warning for scratching your arse so I'd imagine it's as good as you can get in terms of safety but that would a nice test for a controlled environment.
Love your video's and review's but i have a question for you if you can answer it, the top of the range the K4, in the UK and almost all of Europe the K4 model come's with Nappa leather and as well as heated seats it come's with vented seat's, now i know our summer's aren't that hot but it happens and vented seat's would be nice, it seem's that Kia give's us the bottom of the pile and they are still expensive, beautiful though and great review as always..but can you answer my question, grateful thank's...
hi Darren - not sure if the VRT rates for those extras meant they deleted them. Going from 17 to 18" wheels for example can mean a big jump and increase in tax band. Seems odd about the cooled seats though, I've deffo had a few KIAs before with them.
Great review. 50k seems a huge amount to pay for a car however no reason to believe this car wont last 15 yrs or more and half of that under guarantee so that's 3.3k per year (plus interest) so may be a good deal in the long term for a young larger family.
@@amrashraf9559 How do know that for sure unless you've owned and used one? It's reliability will hardly be any worse than the usual badge snobbery suspects in Europe, bmw, audi, Mercedes, volvo etc, etc.
The car is beautiful...but these car reviewers never tell you about the drawbacks of a suv like the sorrento, the fuel consumption 35mpg no better unless you get out a push it..the tyres are over 500euro to replace, its an all wheel drive so if you happen to have a single tyre get damaged all the tyres have to be replaced we live in ireland so thats gona happen alot...the tax on this car is almost 400 euro a year.bring it to a car wash its a 10 or 12 euro to have washed and being a kia suv it will depreciate like a lead balloon.
Ah so it's a Kia V Skoda thing. Kodiaq one of the best, barking up a tree that doesn't exist. Not sure 120 quid is the difference in something being right or wrong though. Again, MPG being thirstier than they claim is covered.
@@NobbyOnCars you like to give your opinion on cars and we all have to listen an accept it even if its true or false... but when someone gives there opinion on your car rewiew you don't seem to like it unless it praises you...i drive a Mitsubishi 2.2 did 7seater im not skoda fan boy....
@@jamesdaly6885 You don't have to listen, no. I'm responding to your claims that the MPG isn't as good as say a Skoda Kodiaq, I'm telling you, yes, I've covered the economy in the video.
Did you say this is the K4 with the diesel? Frustratingly they are only offering the K3 in the UK and you need the hybrid if you want the K4. Hilariously stupid decision from Kia.
Is this guy a Kia salesman? Every other reviewer is complaining about the lack of smoothness with the Diesel engine at low speed! Good car but it’s expensive at 50K even with the list of options!
