I liked this lady as she didn't get intimidated by people watching and she got there in the end. Also she looked a decent rider. Good on her. Also made me feel nostalgicly sad as I had a BSA A65 lightning with similar engine over 40 years ago I live in England. Bought all the memories back and the great times I had with my Mates... some no longer here. Oh well happy days. All the best.
I'd have to agree with you! Those shoes are not meant to be worn on a motorcycle! I actually drove my 61 Cadillac to that event that day and was asked by my friend to move his bike down the street. I used to own a BSA A65 in a hardtail frame with 18" over springers & ape hangers way back in the early 80's. I wish I'd never sold it, but I did have lots of fun with it here in England.
Great shoes for riding, or kicking over a bike. I had a BSA, one of my last British bikes and one of the best. Once you put an electronic ignition the bike was so easy to start.
+Nathan Langley I misspoke pal. It was an electronic ignition that replaced the points. Points are a pain in the ass maintenance item. The bikes still needed to be kicked over the old fashoned way by tickling the Amal carbs and a 750 with high compression pistons will launch you on the bars and twist your ankle up. I probably have way more experience in the last 31 years of riding than in your short lifetime. You do't know shit from shinola.

I only had kick starter Harley's until 1989 when I got my 72 FLH with electric start. I still kick start out of habbit. I just picked up an 02 FLSTC with no kicker so I plan to put one on. (My wife's RU-vid account)
I typically wore worn out tennis shoes riging my BSA 650. No problem. She finally tickled the carb correctly. It's just a matter of getting the routine right, not how heavy you can push your leg down.
She is a natural, see how she pushes on the brake first time, never ridden an old pommy bike before, but once she gets it she is away, I'm impressed , also this chic knew how to kick start it even to the point of pushing the rubber back on the kick lever, these old English bikes with all there problems with maintenance are still great, you get them running right & they are pure fun, Steve Mc Queen new this and so do I..

Sorry lady,I kicked my 650 lightning for whole days.... then it blew up,a blessing if I ever got one.A few days with a hacksaw,and we put a 750 triumph engine,5 speed,out of a wreck with 1200 miles on it.25 years later and it still starts first kick.

@Amy h I drove my car to that event and was asked to move a friend's bike which is why all the issues and wrong shoes lol! but I definitely prefer to ride with other's when I'm able to. Aside from being safer, it's more fun to me!
As someone who rides an 81 Bonniville (750cc) every day ,she is making hard work of starting this 650 Beezer,everyday ,twice a day ,my Bonnie starts first kick every time.

I had a 67 Triumph,, sort of looked like that style,, 2 kicks & it started every time, but I had to adjust the carb a bit, close the choke, prime the carb,,, No key because no one knew how to set it up for starting,, lol.
I married a French chick because she could kickstart my Bonneville. Eventually she tried to kill me and succeeded in stabbing me. I'm not sure what the moral of the story is: "only root biker chicks never marry them" maybe. Or "buy a bike over 1500cc that needs a starter motor". It's a mystery
I don't talk shut about the bike. I had a 650 Gold star and a 61 triumph rigid. I do know those bikes can kick back and it's risky and or stupid to wear shoes like that for kicking over the bike or riding. So save the hostility and grow up. Hopefully she wises up before she wrecks and dresses for the inevitable wreck we all eventually have. There are 2 kinds of motorcyclists, those that have crashed and those who are going to crash.

Ok that's fuckin' BOSS right there she kick-started the thing with slippers on! I kick-started mine with rubber boots mainly because I had a "mishap" thinking it would be cool to switch out the kickstart with a bent railroad spike welded onto the kickstart and needless to say the shit nearly went through my leg.
I think if Indian Larry would have had a second chance to wear a helmet he would have one on today,it's just not worth your life or your family's pain.Best fkn bike builder on the planet.
Bsa is an bike from england and norton too and the gearbox is in the right side...i have till now a bsa m20 from1939... Had a norton too in the past ....cool bike for a sunday ride....

I used to have a BSA A65 powered chopper that was an absolute bitch to start. And I had the bruises on my right calf to prove it. The right hand(foot?) gear change wasn't too hard to get used to, and I quickly learned to tighten everything that needed tightening 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 a run. That habit was hammered home when I lost the complete exhaust system, headers and everything. Bike still ran, it was night time and it actually looked quite spectacular, with the blue flames shooting out the front of the engine. Turned around to see if I could retrieve the exhaust, just in time to watch it get flattened by an eighteen wheeler.... good times, good times.😂 It was my first bike, a sixteenth birthday present for myself, I'd been saving for two years to buy it. It's long gone now, I'm 62 now, but I still miss that quirky bitch.
Someone should really fix that one hissing leaking valve for the poor girl. Would make it a lot easier to kick-start as all my BSA buddies have 1 kick start bikes
ladies - learn what side your shifter is on, and how to clear a carb out before you ride your heap to the bar, hit the brake to shift, kill it because you dont' focus on the throttle, shift it into 1st too late, and try to kick it in gear. Just because she's a pretty lady doesn't mean she has the first idea how to ride that thing.
Do you wear tight jeans have your hair in a pony tail have ugly one arm sleeve tatts forget to take it out of gear b4 kicking it try to start it with slut slippers on? If not then that's the reason why :)
