They all know the truth imo , they want Karen to get off because she loved him and it was an accident. 0fcourse by law it’s vehicular manslaughter but truth is the conditions were probably part of the cause and they both were responsible for dwi . Just a theory “ and that’s why it looks like a coverup, to let KR go they have to blame the police , shoddy investigation or now this crazy conspiracy is normal defense in these cases

I believe that a cover-up could happen. It's been done before. But I'm more interested in the facts of the case. Several things about the scene and his injuries don't match the prosecution's story allegedly. Such as there being fresh blood on top of the snow when he was found. Also, the wounds on his arm definitely look more like an attack from a dog than injury from being hit by a car. If the forensic evidence doesn't match, then I don't care how plausible it is for there to be a cover-up. That comes down to human behavior, which is completely unpredictable. Forensic evidence is (mostly) objective. I will wait to hear both sides' arguments and will keep an open mind.

It doesn't take a whole lot of people to accomplish this cover up. Just the people in the house that were involved in the murder sticking to their story and saying John never entered the house. Plus one corrupt cop, Michael Proctor, who's very good friends with Brian Albert (Brian Albert is the one who held the party). Micheal Proctor had possession of Karen Read's car for 90 minutes before he stated on official documents. Enough time to collect pieces of her cracked tail light and later plant them at the scene. Je also had access to John's body, which explains how he could make sure his DNA was on the tail light pieces, and how there was a strand of John O'Keefe's hair on Karen's bumper. This magical piece of hair that stuck to the bumper through at least 6 hours in a snow storm while Karen drove around. I'd love to see the chain of custody for those things. People think that if you allege police corruption that means that the whole department and all the lab techs and everyone else is all in on it. It really, usually, only takes one corrupt cop to accomplish a lot of bad things. Michael Proctor is the same cop who texted his buddies that Brian Albert didn't need to worry that there was a dead body found on his lawn because, "He's a Boston cop, too."
