Revolutionary Girl Utena is about toppling systems of oppression--finding the power to see a different future and make it so. It's follow-up film, Adolescence of Utena, stays true to this spirit in its condensed retelling of the original story. With a wildly different narrative wrapped in even more symbolism and metaphor, here I attempt to unpack what it all means, offering my interpretation to the Prince, the power to revolutionize the world, and of course Utena turning into a car. Enjoy!
SPOILER WARNING for both the end of Revolutionary Girl Utena (TV) and the film Adolescence of Utena
