Joel and Adam from Killswitch Engage stopped by the Guitar World studios to play along to their song "Strength of the Mind" from their new album Incarnate. Check it out!
Dude i agree. I've probably watched about everything live of Joel since I love his style so much. Does anyone know where to see Joel just straight up shred?! I'm afraid we're stuck with Holy Diver covers lol. Love this band.
Right? I wish I could play them, but they go hard with the palm mutting rythm, hammer ons and pull offs, it's way beyond my beginner level for now... lol!
he's not bored...its just that when you're playing to your own song and on camera its kind of difficult to decide how you want to "appear" while you're playing. Do you want to look enthusiastic and dance around to your own song or do you want to look a little serious and not as expressive while you're playing. And also they're trying to play it perfectly for this playthrough so that's probably his "focus face."
+Justin Hodge I really think you're underestimating just how wacky and ADD Adam typically is. Being this restrained and calm was probably torture for him :)
I met them after a show in Chile and for my surprise I found a really nice guys, humbles, warm and friendly with the crowd. Seriously, we need more guys like them. By the way, Adam D was wearing sandals that day too.
Even the older Killswitch playthroughs/lessons don’t sound as bad as everyone else. I’ve always heard that Adam D is a perfectionist so he probably wouldn’t allow the crap sound GW usually has hahahahaha
I could remember learning this and tried playing it the way Adam plays it but it was to weird. I went with the Joel approach, felt more natural to me. such a good track. fun to play along with. great stuff.
For those trying to learn on guitar (or those that just want the ULTRA-SLOW HEAVY BREAK DOWN version of the song)... settings (gear on the bottom right of the video) > speed > 0.5. You're welcome!
Saw them this July in Arnhem with Maiden.. they kinda made me respect hem more..even the where overwhelmed by Maiden (like any other band)... they had a very good show!
Saw these guys last night. They fucking owned it even with Jesse being sick and all. These guys have a great tone. One of the best. And they just write the best songs. KsE fucking rocks! No one can touch em.
Not having listened this for years and now coming back, I realize how good this song really is. The 2 guitars and all the dynamics work so well together. Honestly this Metalcore Genre has some severe artistic limitations, this is why a band like Killswitch could never become as bis as lets say Metallica. But KSE get out everything they can out of what Metalcore brings to the table
Yes. That’s what I am doing. And it is great fun. You need to practice hard though. I know some flashy lead players who couldn’t get this down tightly.
