I'm glad you mentioned that there are similar rock carvings all down the Atlantic coast from Scotland to Portugal. I watched a film the other day about a similar site in Brittany, North Western France, and there the archeologists are working on a theory that in could have been a map. A lot of markings align with known sites in the area and there are others which could have been lost to ploughing in the middle ages. Since watching that film the ring markings look like depictions of hillforts with double or treble bank and ditch designs. If this is correct the cup carvings could be roundhouses. Do you give any credence to the idea that it could be a map?
