I find it interesting that people still find a lot of replayability in this game as a guy who doesn't like replaying RPGs, especially the best ones. I find it most immersive when I put myself and my own personality in the protagonist's shoes and make the decisions I'd make in their situation. I feel like the second time I play the game, I'd just be metagaming as I'd be fully aware of how the story would pan out and would only be making out-of-character decisions. I'd like to know how or why you enjoyed replaying the game. It's possible that I may even be missing out on something.

@@RexGalilae Well, you said it yourself. You put your own personality in it. You can't play the game a second time like that. I like to take aspects of my personality and turn them up to eleven. What if I was *really* into communism? What if I never took anything serious because we are all fucked anyways? Take one of these and go play the game with that mindset and see where that gets you, play that character. You can then take it further by just imagining things you would never be. A person you would never be. A fascist. A neoliberal. And so on and so forth. Just a heads up. Not everyone loves roleplaying. And that's cool too. Maybe that's just not your cup of tea, or I guess in this case your disco. Just tried to explain how people replay those games.

Writing is one of my hobbies, and it's incredibly fun to try different character archetypes and see how they would fare in this world, exploring routes that one character could never take me while watching them suffer through things that used to be so easy. It's fun to explore and see how the people of Revachol (and other RPGs) react to different kinds of detectives. I think it's safe to say that achievement hunting and completionism is also a drive for quite a few people too, and all the side quests you can very easily miss. I missed out on the church sidequest entirely my first run; planning on running around and going back to it with a High Int + Phys build and playing a tragically artsy cop instead of my previous boring run-of-the-mill go-getter cop. It's also totally fair to not enjoy that stuff, and I've seen many arguments against this type of playstyle. In many games less articulately crafted than Disco Elysium, multiple playthroughs can easily highlight how linear the paths of the game truly are. DE's even like that in some respects, but does it so much better than most games. In the end, it's truly up to you.
