Kind Of King | Beloved King: Musical | Animatic 

I remember as a child watching a Brazilian soap opera about the story of King David, and the author of the soap opera represented Michal as crazy to justify that she came out badly in the story, and it is assumed that she went crazy for not having children. I mean, they created a lot of new characters and a lot of new plots that don't appear in the bible just to ignore the moral dilemma that Michal represents for David. And since the soap opera was sponsored by an evangelical church, David and Jonathan were just friends.

Still haven’t watched this play, but remember reading the part where Saul bade David bring him one hundred Philistine foreskins as a bride price for Michal. Probably a portent this wasn’t going to be the most blessed of marriages in hindsight

Wow, this is so beautiful... I'm discovering the music of Beloved King just now because of this animatic! And the emotions displayed in your art are truly amazing. Fantastic, well done!

This is MARVELLOUS. You did a gorgeous job of showing both Michal and Jonathan’s family resemblance to both each other and Saul without same-facing them (though I can also see a resemblance to your Daniel, and your David, Odysseus and Pelops all have a certain ‘look’ too). Similarly, it’s cool to see Michal’s sneering silhouette at the line about ‘the crown demands a certain gravitas’ and get a sort of flashback to Poseidon’s same thing in the line ‘and without a doubt’. Same again in ‘Shame’ where Saul hauling Jonathan by the arm mirrors Poseidon dragging Odysseus by the hair. It’s really nice to see artists with recognisable, signature style (why I like John Waterhouse), and to see how their art varies over time! This was also my intro to this musical, so many thanks for that! ‘A human memento of the Lord’s regret’ is a LINE. I must ask - The bits of the song where we see a weeping mother running with a child (‘call it luck’ and ‘turn your head to persecution’) - is it meant to represent any scene in particular? In the first she seems to be running from a standing stone, so I’m guessing it’s a reference to the ‘high places’ and supposed child sacrifice, and I guess possibly a hark back to the purported killing of sons in Egypt? But I can’t see the link to David or specific persecution there, so does it just imply he’s generally becoming equally harsh as the worst examples of kings? Or is it a reference to the death of David’s kid with Bathsheba? I wondered about the Joab line, but I only remember the issues with him being his vengeance over his brother, his killing Absalom, and eventually his own rebellion against David… Michal’s tired collapse next to David is a great contrast to the angry energy of the overall song, knowing they are both stuck in this system in some sense. One thing that always frustrated me a bit is there seems to be no commentary connecting Michal to David’s daughter Tamar… Potential rivalry aside, I think there’s room for them to have bonded over David’s neglect as a family man ruining their lives somewhat.

King David surely couldn't hold in his diapers, but still you drawn him so cute I can't be truly mad at him, for killing a lot of people, took lust to another level that would put Sodoma and Gomorrah in shame(not because of Jonathan but he literally had about 20 children with many women, some of them married and also raped since many of them didn't wanna but was obligated to because he was the "Good King" and other reason,also bloody relatives and young teenages were in his radar), have relationship with Saul's son and then both of them die, not to mention that he married his lover's sister and then unmarried as she marry another man he takes her again making the poor guy crying and right after go dancing naked again to celebrate, what can I say King David surely loved to show his "Godly Gifts" for others 😜, sending another friend to a war just to marry his wife, getting his own son Killed, and practically his own relatives and still bible people thing he was a good person because he regretted and "God gave him another son" the funny thing but poor Judas Iscariot he repent so much for betraying Jesus that killed him, sure he will was forgiven, nope, yep I can still be mad at him. But I love your animatics big fan here😅
