Hey everyone! This may be unexpected but this movie has to be one of my favourite Arnold movies. It hit me emotionally in the most unexpected places and I have been thinking about this movie a lot after watching it. Yes... I know it's Kindergarten Cop... but I loved it. Thanks for watching! Have a great day! :)

Your reaction to this film is a reminder that we do not need to watch a cinematic masterpiece to strongly connect to a film. There can be films with noticeable flaws but have aspects or scenes that we strongly connect to nonetheless, and we might not have any explanation for it. When that happens, the flaws are still there, but they seem to matter very little. Others might not like the films that we connect to, and they may even have their reasons, but in the end, I doubt that matters. Great job! 👍

Loved your reaction. I really enjoy Arnie in these wholesome films. I'd recommend "Junior" or "Twins" as well. And you are so right, HEART is the reason why I had the best childhood. Pretty much all the films growing up had heart even if the story wasn't oscar worthy. PS: if you liked the little girl in this, then you should check out "Beethoven" (1992). Another great film with a lot of heart :)

The principal is Linda Hunt, a wonderful, marvelous actor who came to real attention playing a boy in "The Year of Living Dangerously". Often portraying a person of great moral and emotional strength, under-estimated because of her appearance, she has a lovely line of dialogue in the movie "Silverado" after demonstrating the thought: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g2aQ-Q6a3aY.html Pamela Reed plays the delightful "wingman" Phoebe. My brother once observed that one of Schwarzenegger's great qualities is that he surrounds himself with intelligent, versatile, gifted actors to support him.

I love Linda Hunt when she gets to play the tough boss lady because she nails such roles. The first time I really noticed her was in the short-lived series 'Space Rangers' and her presence as the Commander and leader of the colony was unquestionable. That's a good rating system! I love this movie and have probably seen it 25 times over the years. But on a recent watch, I noticed that John isn't a very good detective. He assumes that Mrs. Sullivan's husband is Zach's father, but she doesn't say that. She calls him "my husband," and John rules out Mrs Sullivan/Zach based on that conversation, when she easily could have remarried after leaving Crisp. It would even make sense that if she had been married to Crisp her next marriage could be abusive as well. It's actually Phoebe who rules out Zach Sullivan when she learns he's not related to Crisp.

I kept cracking up every time you gave the villain a different name. Also this movie was shot in Astoria, the same town and name from the Goonies. I think there's a wide shot of the town in Goonies and you can spot the school there. This movie is where a lot of the Arnold Soundboards came from. there are videos on youtube where people use recordings of Arnold's voice to do crank calls. they're freaking hilarious.
@GMJ7

Don't forget Short Circuit, too! Kindergarten Cop, The Goonies, and Short Circuit were all set and filmed in Astoria. A few other movies (e.g., TMNT3, Free Willy) have used it as a filming location, but those three are the "holy trinity" of Astoria films for me.
@vananderson2895

Yes, the Goonies house is just a couple blocks up the hill from the elementary school on the east side of town. One of the nice things the production did was they left all the improvements and special equipment at the school to be used by the teachers and students there throughout the years - including a seriously decked out kindergarten room.

This movie, when it came out was a departure for Arnold. It was his first comedy and it became a huge hit, making $202 million worldwide against a productive budget of $15 million. It was a slam dunk, a crowd pleaser. So, it's no surprise that you enjoyed it. It was directed by legendary comedy director, Ivan Reitman. So, forget about Rotten Tomatoes. Some of those scores are skewed. The next comedy he did was "Twins," with Danny DeVito. You should check it out.

At one time I worked as a grade school art teacher in a small town. And we had to deal with a monster of a father. To the point that he was not allowed on school property. But that was all we could do. After he threatened female and male teachers alike. Small towns suck.

"Boys have a penis, and girls have a vagina." Truth! 😎 Fun Fact: In reality, the kids loved Arnold Schwarzenegger. They were constantly climbing all over him like a jungle gym. Future Filmmaker Fact: Director Ivan Reitman's son, Jason Reitman, has a cameo as the boy making out with the girl that Kimble interrupts during the real fire drill. Location Location Fact: Astoria elementary, the school in the movie, is just a few blocks from The Goonies (1985) house in Astoria. The measured out distance between the two, is 1.6 miles or less than 3 minutes.

As far as Arnold just staying and becoming the teacher.....well, you need to get a college degree and now, also a master's degree in order to be a teacher. You even have to be certified in a specific area like grades 2-4 or K-3 etc. To be a substitute you need at least an undergraduate degree. That is until the advent of Covid. In some places they've changed the rules and anyone who passes the background check can be a substitute. They make it tough---so, no, Arnold couldn't just decide to stay. Excellent wrap-up. It is a fun, feel-good movie.
