Today I'll review the King Kutter Box Blade, using my John Deere 2038 compact tractor. This 6 foot box blade will be used to regrade an existing yard to make it easier to mow the lawn. This box blade easily connects to the 3 point hitch on your tractor and can be an valuable implement for your property.
I'll also compare how a box blade and a soil pulverizer compare when moving dirt.
Welcome to my channel, I'm in Dubuque Iowa, and my channel is know as Today in Iowa or Bill Burkhart 1025.Be sure and check out my channel for many videos including the John Deere 1025r tractor backhoe and the many implements I have to maintain my property.
I'd enjoy hearing your comments, I answer every comment.
I purchased the top link at www.agristoreusa.com/ I couldn't be happier with the product and the assistance when purchasing it.

As always thanks for the video from Clovis, CA. Im sure you already know this, but you can leave the handles down on your quick hitch. You can just hook up to the implement because the latches are spring loaded and will compress then lock back into place when you hook up. I too added top and tilt on my 2032r which has made a big difference. The rear differential lock is nice when the back wheels spin!!

Nice job Bill. When i bought my new John Deere 3025 i went ahead and got the box blade with it. Mine is a 5 ' but its suited just right i like it. King Kutter makes great implements too. I expect they've been around 50 plus years or more. Their stuff is always heavy made. Their Rototillers, and Brush hogs are very heavy duty. Its getting real nice weather wise hear in W.V. starting to cool down i like that. Enjoyed your video.

Videos like this make it ever more likely that I'll be getting a box blade soon. The hydraulic top link is a nice touch too, I'll have to look into that. Oh for a limitless budget, to get all the implements and accessories I want! A guy has to prioritize, of course. By the way, I'm in eastern NC, northern Pitt County. @@billburkhart I just contacted my John Deere dealer about setting up my tractor with the hydraulic top link. I already knew this was going to be a financial question mark before I called because I'm working with a brand new John Deere 1023E, 2021 model. In order to make it work I'll have to have a hydraulic control isolator kit installed since there are no rear hydraulic connections which will also have to be added and the only ones it has are for the bucket loader which I will surely need while tackling similar jobs here on the home place. My salesman is going to get back with me on a price later. Had I gotten this done to begin with it would have saved me a bunch of stopping and starting to get the desired angle effects that I had to do manually instead and a whole lot of pain. See, I'm permanently disabled. My back has no disk left between the vertebrae in my spine. As such just walking out to my tractor can be quite uncomfortable, to say nothing of hooking up implements and especially having to adjust and readjust the top link. However, I'm now able to accomplish things now that most people would take for granted thanks to the 120R bucket loader and the Frontier box scraper using a John Deere iMatch for implements. Things I could do before my back finally gave out to wear and tear with old age. The John Deere 1023E is fairly easy for me to mount and surprisingly comfortable to operate. Coming from someone who unfortunately can feel even an ant hill when traversing over it, that's saying a lot. My box scraper gets used a lot for all manner of things such as weed abatement in the high desert mountains where I live where wild fires are a serious concern. Believe it or not, yesterday I had a surprise with a water line break and found a geyser shooting up in the middle of my property. I simply shut the water off from the well, grabbed my tractor and proceeded to dig a hole right where the geyser was, found the water line, used some couplers and new PVC pipe, and it's fixed. Then I filled the hole back in using the bucket loader and box scraper. Looks sharp like new landscaping. There's no way I could have done that without my tractor and implements and finding someone to come out in an emergency since I don't have water for the interim would have been not only difficult, but expensive as well. Your video is quite an eye opener for the suffering I would not have had to go through to do a complete workover of my 1 and a quarter acres had I gotten a hydraulic top link sooner.

Yep...top and tilt makes a very versatile tool. May I suggest, instead of lifting to deposit, just extend the top link. That will raise the front blade above ground level and allow an even deposit as you drive along. The rear blade then pushes the deposit down...I'm able to keep the contour on our road by dropping the right side as I drive on the right. Forward to cut, level to Cary, rocked back to deposit...an old man's dream. Thanks for showing us. Pulveriser question. Do you think the pulveriser would be better for planting grass and with the rollers and all... We are near Houston, Texas close to a little college town of College Station.

Another great video Bill. Glad to see you got the top link installed. It's a wonderful thing, isn't it? I'd like to get your opinion on a project I want to undertake and ask which one of your implements you would choose. I've got several acres of Maine pasture that I bush hog a couple of times a year. The field is "wicked" rough. Last year I used my tiller to smooth out a couple of the really rough areas but it would take me forever to do the whole field. I'm not trying to make it smooth like a ball field but would like to improve it somewhat. Would you use your soil pulverizer or your disc harrow for this job? Thanks!

Hi Mickey, dang it, wish I lived closer, Id' like to be part of that project. If I could only choose one implement for the project I'd choose the disc harrow. Do you get cold enough that the grounds freezes deep? If so, let the freeze thaw help you out after you disc it. Go slow, get a few passes in and over lap your work. I'll bet you end up with a nice pasture after that. Let me know what you choose. - Bill

@@billburkhart Thanks for the input. I suspected you would suggest the disc harrow. I know you chose the 4-footer but given the size of my project, I think I'll go with a 5-footer.

Rototilling the sod first makes for easier grading and faster. No clumps of dirt and grass to deal with.

Box blade the rough grade and then hit it with a land plane and you will be surprised how good, even, flat, and smooth it gets ..... quickly.

I have a 4240 kubota with a hydraulic top link. My boxscraper of choice is a WOODS BSS 72. If you do grade driveways with your boxscraper, you can feather out the material in the box by extending the top link and letting the material to flow under the blades. If you have enough loosened up, you can push with the back blade better Calling from Silverton, Or.

@andrewbrenneman9592 3 года назад
@@billburkhart, you can or should be able to do the same spreading trick by retracting the top link. Play with the different angles the hydraulic top link can provide. Just be careful not to fully extend the cylinder and push backwards extremely hard. That is a good way to bend the rod.

Bill, in jobs like this, you could set the scarifiers down one or two positions and get a ripping and blading action.
