I rented the RAM LongHorn over the summer while on a vacation. Great build quality, infotainment system was easy to learn and use, peppy engine, good stereo, very comfortable, and it felt premium. I’d be hard to beat the RAM with what I experienced.
@@takingoutthetrash1512Well reliability is higher on the Ram for the last five years. But Toyota will probably take that first lead again for they do try to provide a reliable vehicle. But I prefer Ram by a long shot. Easier to work on by far. If you work on vehicles yourself you would totally understand. Ram now leads in reliable, comfortable, etc etc. But if you ask me my next choice it would be Toyota hands down.
Hello gentlemen. Good comparison video between the 2024 RAM 1500 and the 2024 Toyota Tundra. It was a tight comparison. My choice between these two trucks would be the RAM 1500. Primarily because of the rims being more stylish, more interior storage, better audio system, adjustable air suspension system and the raw sound of the V8 engine. Both of these trucks beat the ones from Nissan, Chevy and Ford.
naw ford has lane centering that works unlike toyota and dodge does not have it. Ford has massaging seats dodge nope toyota nope then theres blue cruce.
I had a brand new 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman quad cab with a hemi, no etorque system. For being a basic work truck, it was great. The cloth seats were comfortable, the acceleration was powerful and smooth. It would make you want to smash on the pedal every time. I never felt a lag. Suspension was great in my opinion considering it was rwd with basic stock suspension. It had the small 4inch Bluetooth screen that functioned well. The analog dash was great. The design looked modern, it had a 3D feel to to it. Overall, I loved that truck. I traded my Ram for a brand new '23 Tundra 1794 Edition TRD Off-Road crew cab a few months ago due to my growing family. Not sure if I love my Tundra but it has almost everything I was looking for in a upscale truck. I wanted a different color both exterior and interior from the rest of the trucks. I settled for Army Green exterior and Saddle Brown interior which in my opinion looks great. Don't see it as much here in Northern California. Comfort level is great along with suspension. I really like the storage compartment under the rear bench/seats and the leg/head room. It has a lot of useful cameras that I use regularly: sides, front, rear, and bed views. Camera resolution is good. Wireless Android Auto connects flawlessly as soon as I hop in. Digital dash and infotainment interfaces are great. Digital rear view mirror is cool but don't use it as much, prefer non-digital. Pano roof and rear sliding window are cool features as well. Just wish it had a release/close tailgate button inside the cabin, the powered cabin steps and bed step that come standard with the 1794 Editions without TRD Off-road package, and most importantly a V8. I've never driven Toyota's 5.7 V8 but I sure do miss the Hemi excitement. I basically felt badass in a Ram with a Hemi whereas in my Tundra I-Force I don't 😅
Back in august, Found a 2022 Ram Limited, white with the “Night Edition package” & fully loaded with the H/K sound system, split gate, heads up display, etc… Only had 17k miles and they were asking $51k for it. They had it at a nearby Toyota dealer, (ironic huh!), compared it to one of these new tundras. Ram just took my heart. Yes, toyota is ahead in reliability, but it’s not a super huge gap. Of course If both are taken care of. Realizing that a Ram limited goes for $70k brand new. Wasn’t getting a better deal so i pulled the trigger, no regrets!
I was Ram owner up until about 16 years ago bought I believe 5 Rams up to that point. I’d buy a new truck every 2-3 years. In 2007 I bought my first Tundra. Drove it hard for 13 years and 250k miles. Truck was very reliable and only changed out the starter. So in 2020 I decided to get another truck. The Tundra was definitely in last place when comparing to the domestic’s overall but wanted that reliability again and I received a good deal from my local Toyota dealer so I purchased a 2020 Tundra. Now in future if I decide to get a new truck I will look a little closer at the domestic offerings and see if the Tundras reliability is still superior at that time.
I Traded in a Tacoma TRD 2022 and my BMW 2016 750 I X drive executive / sport package for a 2023 Tundra Capstone. WOW this truck is so comfortable and the pick up is unreal and the interior is amazing. It is almost like my Lexus LS 460 L AWD
The Tundra would be my choice here. Not only are you getting top of the line reliability with Toyotas, the interior is absolutely stunning. I like that Toyota treats the passengers well with the ventilated rear seats too.
Even though the Tundra is working out it's bugs, Toyota stands behind its vehicles. They also lead in the hybrid electric domestic vehicles. Give them a few more years.
The ram has ventilated front and rear seats. Also has 4 corner air ride suspension like Lexus LX600 has. I’d go Ram every day. I had a 20’ limited. It was absolutely incredible compared against my old man’s new Denali ultimate. Doesn’t compare and i got my ram 16k below MSRP!
Close, but Ram won because of the air ride, and Harmon Kardon! Toyota reliability and 2yr maintenance is tempting. The big three better stay on their toes. Toyota is breathing down their neck.
Well right now Ram is in the lead for reliability and quality. But I’m positive that Toyota will once again surpass them. While Ford and GM have fell behind in reliability and quality. For once it is nice to see that Ram has followed the ways of Toyota for reliability improvements. Your right, other manufactures need to wake up for they are getting worse. I prefer Ram. Used to hate them but in 2019 I chose Ram. Listened and observed others who had good good success on there 4th Gen Rams and ya can’t go wrong with a proven power plant like the Hemi and ZF transmission.
great review guys. it would have been better to use the ram 1500 limited elite since that is the top trim of the ram 1500 to go up against the tundra capstone. also, the headroom figures are misleading. you guys should use the measurements with the panoramic sunroof because those headroom figures are without the roof. otherwise, the ram would score a half point for the >5% greater rear headroom
Good Luck, but beware that was the first year release of the current gen and looking at the Fifth Gen Ram Forums the 2019 typically has the most commonly known issues.
@@MIZUNOMP60 don’t worry I passed on it. The interior was absolutely trashed. The people ruined the truck. I found an entire chicken in the ram box that was rotted and stunk. They got mad when I told them no due to the filth
You hit the Ram twice with the plastic interior with the speaker grill. Also, Tundra has air suspension system. You did not give Tundra any points for auto leveling head lights (exclusive to the Tundra). Tundra head up display give more information. And you did not give enough to the Tundra for better HP, Towing, Torque, and Payload. Each one of them should have been a point. And the end of the day, those are the things that really matter alot more that speaker's sounds and extra rear room in a full size truck.
I own a Toyota Tundra 2024, 1794 Edition Hybrid iForce Max and I must say it is a really nice truck, offers a very nice ride and looks freaking cool. I have got a bunch of compliments from random people about the truck, just like that. Everyone in the family is wowed with its features. The panoramic sunroof, the mood lightning, the leather, the screen, etc... I have never driven a Ram so I wouldn't be able to tell the difference but I am now intrigued to test drive a ram truck.
Really good comparison. I been itching for a new truck and the Tundra 1794 or Capstone has been what I wanted. This video gave me some consideration about the Ram, but at the end of the day, it really is the reliability I will get with a Tundra and the fact they hold their value is why I will be getting one next month, hoping they have better than 3.9 APR on a 5 year loan for the Memorial Day sale.
I’m a Toyota user since 1995. I have a 2009 4Runner with 338,000 miles. The best purchase of my life. And after 15 years i wanted a truck. But for first time i took the risk and purchased the Ram 2024 Limited Night Edition. And i love this truck. I like the Tundra but the space, air suspension, the trim, the design makes me takes the risk of buy a Ram. The last of the Hemi’s v8. I like my truck!!!
Ram for sure. The interior, features, and traditional V8(last model year for the 5.7) alone are worth it. Ram should've received an additional 0.5 point for front tow hooks, something that Toyota doesnt offer even on the offroad-oriented TRD. Toyota also requires a subscription for its navigation system to be operational. The Toyota is also very space inefficient. The under seat storage is a huge deal for Big 3 truck buyers, plus the cab is noticeable in its "tightness" against Ford, Chevy, and Ram. Yes, the Toyota can rest on its "reliable" laurels, but I hate to be the informant of bad news: This will not be your "1 million mile Tundra". That battery will go out and will be damn expensive to replace.
well u r right, but also tundra should get 0.5 of a point for having sequential rear turn signals as well so they both cancel each other out. i would agree and disagree with u saying the tundra is space inefficient. tundra doesn't have storage on the bottom just on the hybrid models, non-hybrids get them. however, the panoramic sunroof could be designed a bit better for more headroom and also legroom could be a little bit better since the previous generation had more. that is where the ram should have scored another half a point as those headroom figures for both front and rear are for the non-pano roof tundras. the pano-roof tundras headroom figures are 39.2 and 36.9 respectively.
@@huanronghu4432 I finally got the chance to sit in the rear of the Tundra and I was shocked at the lacking headroom. I know Toyota had to jack the rear seat up to accommodate the battery, but it was an odd feeling in a full size truck. I can forgive the legroom since unless you get in the Ram and Toyota back to back, it isn't terribly noticeable.
@@hellkitty1014 is there really a difference between the pano roof headroom that is not a hybrid and one that is? Because according to the numbers, its 36.9 inches of rear headroom regardless
Enjoyed your review of tundra and ram, well done n informative. I was unable to get a price listing for a Toyota 4 runner limited and I couldn’t locate information on detailed pricing, thank you, Jim freeland
Talk about tying the knot, trying to choose between the 2 is a challenge and all comes down to personal styling and performance preference. Theres no other way to put it. They’re similar and unique in almost everyway. I myself would stick to the ram just because of that V8. But the TT in the tundra sounds quite menacing for a V6.
Had a 2020 limited and dealership took it back. Big screens suck. They couldn't fix it. Bought a 2021 Laramie again big screen is not working properly. Been to the dealership for the fifth time they told me I had to update Sirius XM. I don't even have Sirius. Talked with 8 different strangers who have Tundra's and everyone of them love there trucks and said never going to buy anything else.
I'm glad I watched your presentation. I like the tundra, but after watching your presentation, the Ram is the winner for me. What I like the most, besides the other qualities of the Ram, is the tail gate. Perfect for me for my age. 🤭. I'm not saying I'm really old. All I'm saying is that my body is not the same when I was between 35 and 59.999 years old. Lol. Good presentation.
Loved my 2013 Laramie/Longhorn (15-22mpg), but reliability was an ongoing issue. Now at 170k I'm looking at a complete rear end rebuild & both manifolds need replacing. The outside mirrors clouded over at around 95k. Also had to replace the rusted out oil pan @ 80k $1000. I'll get the Ram repaired & keep it as a work truck for the guys. My old 2014/2022 Tundras were amazing but were 12mpg around town, but I never had any repair issues. I traded the 22 up to a 24 Tundra Limited, but I also just picked up a 2024 Tundra Platinum, I-Force Max hybrid & I could not match the options it had in a Ram for the same price. Both the new 24's are business trucks so deductible.
Nice review, and i also feel Ram just edges out the Tundra.......I have both trucks. I agree that RAM audio sound and the storage inside is great. Exterior has dual crome exhaust, to Tundras 1 side, but you did forgot to mention rams side mirrors do not fold in when leaving vehicle. My 2024 Tundra. The power and Torque is crazy good and the ride is very comparable to the RAM air bags..... what's nice on the Ram is you can lower the truck for grandma to get in and out with ease. The Tundra 14" computer screen and navigating through it feels easier. More cameras makes it nicer for parking, Also the Tundra interior ambient lighting and has a live rear view camera are nice, also comes with 2 year tire rotation and oil changes. RAM does not. I was surprised that you said fuel economy was similar and i am getting at least 5 miles a gallon more with the Tundra hybrid. For me the styling and reliability is why the Tundra had it over the RAM since the styling hasn't been changed in 6 years. But I do love my 2020 Ram limited.
Ram 1500 but it’s close I love my ram I traded in my 2019 and got a 2024.. I will say the tundra feels great in the straight line outside of that. It is a very boxy.
There should be a longevity metric for these reviews. While initially Ram appears to be the better buy, Tundra's maintain their quality over extended period of times, while Ram's do not. The Quality testing of Tundra's and Toyota's in general far surpasses many of the competitors.
Quality!?😂 Sure… turbo issues subpar interior quality, poor fit and finish rattles squeaks everywhere 😂 That’s quality alright. And I guess the high quality interior excellent fit finish materials build quality in the ram must be garbage 😂
The 2024 ram is gonna be very reliable and also rides WAY better then the toyota you dont feel any bumps in the ram. Im a ford guy and toyota is usually more reliable in most things but in trucks id go american
Year after year, Ram is near the top in dependability. The Ram has a far more simpler powertrain and while it isn't exempt from issues, they aren't any more than any other vehicle that is produced at the high-volume the Ram is...
Are you referring to the cummins diesel or standard 1500? Cummin's diesel is good, but the standard Ram is no where near as reliable as a Tundra.@@hellkitty1014
I’ve owned both now, the Ram is 1500 and worth your money . Ram infotainment and dash is so much better , the Tundra is just 14 inches of uselessness . Ram is also better for everyday driving in snow and rain with 4 auto! I got rid of the tundra for the ram because that “Toyota reliability” did me dirty and the engine blew up
Personally, I prefer the Tundra's interior and the Ram's exterior. The sound system and the suspension system is also better on the Ram. I would like to put the Tundra's interior, including it's power rear window and rear window shades on the Ram.
Not true, the new Tundra is less reliable than the RAM. Look it up. I also own nothing but Toyota's, 2 trucks, 1 van, 1 SUV and a Prius. I am leaning to the RAM for my next truck.
I don't know where the day is both luxurious I mean probably going to have to go for a GMC Sierra Denali ultimate because that has massaging seats plus heated seats in the back even though it doesn't have any cold seats I'm still going for the GMC Sierra Denali or the Chevy Silverado High Country
Lmao the Denali ultimate doesn’t have a panoramic moonroof, no ventilated rear seats, the Denali ultimate is also 5-10k more then the ram limited that has those options. Ram is 10 times better then any cheap ass GM product
How can you compare the Ram 1500 to the Tundra! I am the owner of Ram 1500, long story short, in 4 years 1 engine and 1 transmission replaced by the warranty, and 6 months at dealership. Now is setting on the driveway, need new engine
@@Volf509lemon or he did poor maintenance but im guess lemon. Ive owned 3 hemi RAMs. Prior 2 over 120k each never had engine or transmission issues. Upgraded last one when i bought the 19 limited, currently at 71k hemi etorque only swapped tires and my regular battery crapped out so i changed that. Still daily driver
@@robertsoria9293I’m guessing he didn’t take care of it if it’s needing another engine replacement. The Ram engines in the 5th gens rarely have issues. The transmissions they use now are basically bulletproof.
I know that Toyota has been known for better build quality, but the "Big Three" are now making a lot better quality trucks now as they are really wanting to go above the foreigner options.
I've had 3 Rams and 2 Tundras. My personal experience was I liked the Ram better but had more problems with them. The Toyotas always had equity when i traded the leases in. The Rams (actually Dodges) were just more manly.
In my opinion, ram win on the inside interior hands-down better quality more sophistication set up is better special with the screen dashboard screen and the ram truck has a flat floor in the back that means everything
How far can you go with each? I own a 2008 Tundra and there are only 2 things i dont like - fuel economy (11/15) and gas tank size (20gal). I can only go 250 - 300 miles on long trips. So curious how large are the gas tanks in each? And the travel distance on a full tank. Are there distance advantages to the hybrid tundra setup (dealer says i can go over 600 miles). Please assess and let us know. Very good and tight analytical content - very good!
The ram ranges between 23/26 gallons. ( the ram Laramie, limited, rebel, and longhore have the 26) The tundra rangers between 22/32. (Anything SR5 and under is 22. Anything tundra limited and up has 32)
A Toyota will always be the winner, dependability, durability, technology, better build quality, better resale value and pricing among many others. With Toyota, you wont be spending too much time in the workshop for repairs and it will outlast any other brands. Muslim jihadists have chosen right with Toyota pick-ups. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 TOYOTA 👍👍💪💪👏👏
Great food for thought, here are a few other considerations now that some time has passed. Then give RAM 1 point for being JD Power best truck for initial build quality and take 2 away from Toyota for being listed as the worst reliable truck in 2024 by consumer reports. I have owned several Tacomas and they served me well. When I recently went to upgrade to 1/2 ton I was sad to see I could no longer trust them and they have really slipped over the last few years in quality, look at all the engine failures and paint issues. Also, I just do not like the looks of the front end, that’s just my opinion, as others clearly like it’s styling. I got the Ram Limited and absolutely love it so far. I see you gave points for a power step in the rear to Tundra but no points for the Multi Function Tailgate. This has to be one of the single best features on my truck. I use the bed a lot and being able to get closer to the bed makes it so much easier, and you get a step as well.
you mentioned reliability...if it wont start, if it wont go, if it wont tow...it aint worth nothing...it's a truck....HPs and torque are key...and again, it needs to start went you need it to!
Sensed a bias to Toyota very early on. The piped in engine sound with the Tundra is not a positive for me. Looks wise, I choose the Ram. However, the new Tacoma is ahead in looks to the Tundra.
The air suspension in my 2019 Rebel is cool but has been nothing but trouble. I am now looking to either delete all together or trade. Also, I have 220k on it and 3 dealers I spoke with say they do not do timing chain replacements. They say not necessary, I say bull. That goes against everything I have learned about engines.lots of other issues too. Next time I will buy my first Toyota, I am almost 60 and soon I will be old enough to drive one. 😂
