These are my go to sardines. I LOVE the taste of sardines, Thank GOODness! When I was growing up in the 50s & 60s, my father would pick up cans of sardines & mackerels on a regular basis in order to stretch our budget, as these food items were dirt cheap in those days. Consequently, sardines have always been a healthy comfort food for me 👌
King Oscar bristling sardines are a different species called sprats. They are smaller, and typically softer than the larger sardines. KO is a high quality sardine that can be found in any grocery store. I love them.
All of the King Oscar sardines tend to be tender, I like to think, rather than mushy. The Royal Selection sardines are packed like the Polar Brislings, and are really exceptional.
I agree. Polar tastes good, but I don't like how firm and dry it is, it reminds me of overcooked chicken. Maybe that could be an acquired texture, but for me I associate it with overcooked meat and it comes across to me as poorly cooked. when i eat tender chicken i don't think of it as mushy so i don't think of these as mushy either.
Steve Brettell hey Steve, I’ve been sitting on some cans to do. I remember seeing some of your comments on funny guy food reviews! I should be making a video within the week on a king Oscar Mediterranean type. Hope you enjoy it!
Just bought a four pack of K O Extra Virgin Oil sardines and a few packs of King Oscars premium. So far King Oscar in Extra Virgin has been my favorite
Great content I’d say buy a bunch and do a review of them all I’d watch new to sardines and love em so I’d like to see the best/differences between brands
The only cons about sardines is that eating them too many times a week can raise the production of uric acid so for those more prone and susceptible to kidney stones, try to limit them to about a few times a week. Nonetheless sardines are great!
You keep saying this has "monosaturated fat", but you're wrong on both fronts , it's polyunsaturated fat. The only part you got right was "fat." 😂 Anyway I know this is an old video, sorry. But it was driving me crazy.
