if they were worried about cementing Noa as a leader, I feel like the parts where he and the tribe got together and sang a song that brought the Eagles down on Proximus AND Mae wanting to assassinate him at the end already did that.
Wes’s commentary specifically says that the problem was pacing, not plot. It felt like it had multiple endings because of this scene, so they cut it. I assume it’s something that would be easy to bring back, and in a better way, in the next film.
Ape Exodus should have definitely stayed in Not only does Noa say “Apes Together Strong” But it confirms that not only did most of Proximus’s apes survive but they joined the eagle clan which I really liked. I never found the costal clan, minus Proximus and his men, as evil and I’m glad most did survive.
I can guess one reason why the “Noa chases Mae” scene was cut: Since part of the film’s themes is about the blurring of lines between humans and apes, this deleted scene suggests a physical chemistry between Noa and Mae that is not supposed to be present. Not that there’s anything inherently sexual about what happens in this scene, but one cannot help but project a purely human relationship onto these characters, and therefore the imagery overrides the subtext.
Noa and Soona: I think they should have retained at least one of the Noa and Soona scenes that were cut. The idea of them is sweet but it feels quite surface-level at this stage. Even though we haven't seen them yet, I think the deleted scenes between them will show their relationship's growth. Essentially I suspect if we had more time with Noa and Soona in the final cut, I'd feel more invested in them as a budding romance. As a side note: there's a lot of Noa x Mae shippers online which is quite strange but given Owen and Freya's chemistry, this sort of reaction wasn't surprising. Freya Allan posted a BTS still on her insta story of what looked like Noa and Mae hugging in a deleted scene and fans (the shippers) went crazy over it. I wouldn't be surprised if Soona was included in the story to try deter Noa x Mae ships. Chase/Fireside: I'm glad the chase scene was cut- It doesn't really drive the story forward and although I understand the logic, seeing Noa cover Mae and hold her head like that looked a little odd. I really loved the idea of the dream chat between them, but sadly agreed this would be another stop/start! Exodus: It's really weird that Wes says they cut Exodus to avoid cementing Noa as a leader. Personally, I don't think this scene is needed because he's cemented him as a leader. When Noa tells everyone 'lets go home' and when he tells Mae they'll rebuild from what they've learned, this very clearly displays him as the clan's new leader. Aside from that, it would have been nice to see Proximus' apes join the Eagle Clan, but I quite like the idea of this reveal being left for the next film. Presumably we'll see the clan stronger in resources and numbers, so Proximus' apes joining could be mentioned after the fact effectively. I hope I didn't sound too negative! I really love this film, but just thinking about these deleted scenes and how the film comes together overall, it really does have pacing issues and underdeveloped ideas. To be honest, It sounds like the script just needed further development but they didn't have enough time or money.
I found the scene of humans being hunted by monkeys to be too short and quick. Does anyone know if there are deleted scenes or extensive scenes of the manhunt?
@@Grendel385 Great point! 100% agree - this along with Mae in the grass were two of the most suspenseful and I would have loved to see the manhunt drawn out a bit more. As far as I know, there's no deleted scenes featuring an extended manhunt
I hope in the next film it is mentioned that since Proximus defeat from Noa his apes join the Eagle Clan. This scene was very interesting to me, for one it shows that although apes across the world have evolved in their own cultures the instinct of following the leader still continues. I am happy that the Eagle Clan grew with the assimilation of Proximus apes, but I don't think this is going to be easy for Noa, the apes that followed Noa are probably not all slaves and or servants of Proximus. Some are actually his warriors who went on raids, so I hope they dive more into that because I don't think it will be anything close to easy for Noa to bring in ruthless raiders and warriors and slaves together. With Proximus apes following Noa that means Eagle Clan went from between 40 and 50 apes, to 200+, and its good for the Eagle Clan to have more diversity in their tribe just like Proximus and the original Ceasar 300 years ago. Like now Eagle Clan has gorilla's, more chimps and bonobos. With their numbers increasing this proves Noa's point to Mae on his apes becoming stronger, and with Proximus apes being in the Eagle Clan both warriors and servants, this gives them a fighting chance against any other ape community and humans. Lastly I would really like to see the clash between Noa and a main figure who was a warrior of Proximus's kingdom, I feel like the apes that fought for Proximus may have a itchy killing hand since they had gone on so many raids and will have a hard time fitting in, but I think that Noa would listen to those particular apes on advancing defenses and training apes for war.
really wish they did keep the exodus walk cause that scene is great but i can also see why Wes wanted to delete it cause it does feel just a bit too early for Noa to become a leader in the beginning of his arc which is Kingdom but i can still see that it wouldve been good to keep it too but hey at least this awesome movies out on digital now‼️
i agree especially the apes together strong one as it means Noa has learned something from Raka and believes in Caesar’s words even if he never met Caesar. 😘🏴
Nice to know a lot of the other clans survived at least in the deleted scene. Got to think most of Proximus apes were just stolen clans/captured apes similar to the Eagle clan and not bad apes like Lightning and Sylva
I got this on amazon prime the day it released for streaming but didn’t get any deleted scenes so i’m glad you’re showing a couple of them. Maybe down the line you can include some more. There is one more very interesting deleted scene which you did not talk about, it was Noa and Soona talking about what they saw in the telescope, something about moon not beeing moon, sun not being sun, might be setting up worm whole for the time travel part for next movies

I’m getting it on digital. I know we need to support physical media more, but $50 for a Blu-ray is just too much let alone $65 for a steelbook with a bit more special features. 🥺
The Standard 4K blu-ray is gonna be most likely $25-$30.. They normally have pre-orders at a high price for some reason and lower them towards release MSRP..
And then Mae betrayed noa like 100 times after that. Plus they really don’t make the best couple. Also in one of the deleted scenes she did leave with his blanket showing that he really never wanted to give it to her but raka made him.
I don’t like Mae. She betrayed Noa and the apes by blowing up Proximus’s place with the water hoping to drown the apes. In real life apes can’t swim they sink and drown instantly also she had the gun behind her back when she said goodbye to Noa. I don’t trust her or what her friends have planned for the apes.
No please no I didn’t like the human from the first movie I think idk his name was in a relationship with an female ape who’s name I also don’t know which felt uncomfortable to me and plus she was thinking of killing him with the damn gun behind her and betrayed him because she doesn’t want apes ruling the planet anymore

Mae is the name of the human with the gun behind her back while saying goodbye to noa . I didn’t like Mae she’s shady. The man from Rise is called Will he raised Caesar from a baby to a teenager.
The first one could have stayed in but the second one only neded to cut the apes together strong. The movie trailers salready hintet that the goel might be to movie towards unity with the two races thats atleast the implication i got. That line woukd set a diferent tone.
