I'm a console gamer that thought I'd missed out on this game in the last generation. I'd never heard of it at the time but it has a fine reputation. I'm very pleased that I get to see for myself. The criticism comes from people that enjoyed the game already and wanted more, from someone in my position this is still a good sign.
agreed completely. i never heard of or played the first one. I am loving this as a first time player. If there was so little improvements made then this was a really good game back in 2012 or whenever it originally released. the graphics look fine to me, combat is great, story is good so far. My biggest gripe is the RUNNING. I can sprint straight but as soon as i sprint and move left or right, it stops running lol. so annoying. maybe this will be in the day one patch that, being on xbox, i STILL DONT HAVE!!!!! RIP my ears on intro too lol
It mostly comes down to expectations. All I wanted was a higher resolution version (since the PC version menus broke in higher resolutions in the old version making it unplayable) with some fixes. And I got exactly that... I didn't expect some giant revamping. Given I already owned it on Steam so its only 16 bucks, I'm completely fine with it.

I'm playing it in 4K 60 and think it looks pretty good. You really see the quality improvements once you leave the tutorial/starting section. I'm loving it Personally.
@@ExelArts the level lock is more of a region level lock. In the original if you entered a new area that place would become your current level and never change. Loot and enemies would just be that level of around it.
@@scalpingsnake hmm so say I ignore the dlc chest next to the inn at the first town you visit and return at lvl 40 will they be at there max item lvl once I return at lvl40 because before I'd have to wait to download the dlc armor and weapons till I hit max lvl.
I worry about this attitude, because it they’re going to phone in the effort on a remaster, then why would they put real effort into the sequel? This all seems like an unfortunate and inexpensive way for them to take advantage of the passionate Kingdoms of Amalur fanbase that is starving for more content. I honestly don’t believe the level of effort deserves support. I’ll stick with the original version.
That's what happened to me year sago when the game came out. lol, I didn't hear about it till about a year after it came out maybe and bought it and loved it.
I think for me it must have been overshadowed by Skyrim. I probably didn't care for it back then because of the graphics too, something I don't really care about now.

I don't think the word "remaster" applies here. I got it on a sale with Steam because I already own the original (which I got on sale as soon as EA put it back on Steam). On my PC I do notice that, at default, some of the graphics are sharper and cleaned up. The controls are (for the most part) more responsive for me (blocking works better for me for example), and a lot of the work they put into this is mainly on the back end. I'm sure they are going to look at these bugs and patch them as fast as possible. I personally say it is worth the money sink to show THQ Nordic that they made the right choice to bring back this beautiful work. If you've never played the game before, get Re-Reckoning. If you're a fan of it, support it. In reality, because it isn't tied to EA anymore, you'll probably have to buy it to get the new Fatesworn DLC when it drops anyway. I think too many people hyped it up as a remaster which is why reviews like yours are happening. It is simply a slightly improved re-release. I think we will see improvements throughout the year leading up to Fatesworn and beyond though. We might also see a sequel with a similar art style but better graphics. Who knows what will be coming out beyond Fatesworn?

No, people hated what happened with Mafia 2 but it wasn't a lot of noise because publusher said nothing about the game, in Amalur's case they stated Refined gameplay, that made people think that it was more than retouched graphics, that's why there's a lot of noise, people that didn't follow news about the game probably do not know that.
May I ask, if you don't consider this a remaster, what would you call it? And for that matter, what would you qualify as a "remaster"? I don't think it's fair to disregard this as a simple port, because most ports don't really improve anything, they just allow you to re-buy the same product on a different system.
Yeah that's what I'm really not happy with. They announced the game with that 4 minute cinematic trailer. Then hid the game and refused to show any footage until 10 days before release, when they quietly uploaded a 30 second trailer, showing it to look the exact same as before. Basically just a port. They didn't go about this honestly.
What they did was try to make the money back that they paid for the IP. THQ Thought they could make a quick buck and they gave us a half assed product. I bought it on Xbox played for about three hours on Monday and got a refund today. Don’t get me started on the patch debacle
So I missed this when it first came out thanks to Skyrim and I've been watching a few streamers like Cohh and Fightin Cowboy play some on stream having a blast and I'm even more excited to play it. I've heard the criticisms and some are valid but the game is still a great RPG by all accounts updated and available on current gen and that's good enough for me. Got the Fate Edition ready to go.
I think I'm gonna grab it solely on the grounds that I was head over heels with the original. I'll pay a little bit more to go through that nostalgia again on a new console.
I hope enough people buy this that it warrants them making a sequel. I loved this game so much and I feel like it got so little attention. It seemed difficult to find people who had even heard of this game. I for one have been looking forward to playing this again. Especially now that it's on a handheld
Jack Of All Trades is also a Master Of None! Which means some of the high-to-top tier abilities aren't available! If i could unlock Meteor Strike for my Jack-Of-All trades speciality i wouldn't ever need any other Destiny option, since it is essentially as op as it can get! Still Mark Of Flame can be batshit powerful anyway so, that evens that out a bit...
There's also the problem that armor has level and if you spread yourself too thin you start finding armor you can't use. But the Might/Finesse/Sorcery destinies reduce armor level requirements, so that helps some. It's one of my favorite ways to play. And honestly there aren't many top tier abilities that are that great.
But this means that you'll level up quicker, but the cap is still at 40 so once you hit 40...you'll lose the will to keep playing. This game has a lot of content and you'll want to explore it all but reaching a plateau will crush that dream
@@lukesimmons3323 I know this is 7 months old but just as an FYI for people that don’t know, the removed the area level lock, down scaled the xp acquisition rate I.E you level up slower and they increased the amount of enemies in each area, just so that you wouldn’t power creep to early, but at the end they said that this is a power fantasy kind of game in the late stage, so in the end you’ll always be powerful no matter what, and to be honest that’s a problem all RPGs tend to have no matter what, but they added a new higher difficulty to ease that problem, if only by a bit.
I mean, it’s a remaster not a remake. For me it’s on par with other remasters such as Uncharted, God of War, and Dark Souls. Not mind blowing by any means, but a good excuse to play again through a game you like.

Uncharted's remaster actually had A LOT of work done to it. I think there is a Digital Foundry video on it. Assets were remade and such. This is a lazy remaster.

Being one of my favorites, partially written by one of my favorite authors (R.A. Salvatore), I'm fine with the slight (if not samey) remaster of this. More than fine, actually. I'm just glad (& psyched) that THQN saved this IP, which I thought was forever lost to the aether due to that Rhode Island court case. I'm *more* than happy that this'll be playable for another generation (or more), which is why I got this, even tho I have it for PS3 & X360.
Agreed. Well said. Great game. Deserves a sequel. If people played the old one and enjoyed it they will enjoy this one. It's not a remake it's just remastered. People have ridiculous expectations these days and complain about everything. It's a fun game. It's got hundreds of hours of content. Well worth the purchase imo. But some people like playing mindless COD or madden crap. I would much rather support this game then those. The lore, the art, the gameplay, sounds and music are great. I personally love the cartoonish look to it. That's what sets it apart from all other games of it's time. To each his own though. Can't please everyone. I'm still enjoying tf out of it just like old times.
I bought the remaster mainly for the fixes to terrible level scaling of the original. I’ve also heard that they’ve rewritten the code to make modding actually possible, so I’m excited for that. Also, regarding the “it’s basically a patch” argument. Keep in mind that THQ doesn’t actually own the original product. They have the rights to the franchise. Meaning that to bring any changes to the game, they had to re-release it. If you own the original on Steam you get a 60% discount so it’s dirt cheap anyway imo

Not really sure what you expected. The game was already pretty top-notch. They literally addressed the biggest issue with the original (the level lock and balancing) and made it better.
Eh, I dunno man. 60fps at a higher resolution, they removed the zone level lock on entry, they doubled the amount of inventory space, added 4 more ability slots, added very hard difficulty, they let you adjust camera distance and FOV...these are all nice improvements IMO. Not worth $60, but it was $33 new on amazon on release day. I don't know how you'd be mad unless you expected a complete remake built from the ground up.
I'm sad that they didn't fix more than they did. The extra 4 abilities for controllers is definitely nice. They did actually fix some of the inventory bugs where quest items can't be removed from inventory EVER, but there are still some that aren't fixed. And the DLCs add to the problem since they add more quest items. On XBox the upscaled textures (which I can't see since my XBox One doesn't scale that high) have about tripled load times, and you often see missing textures, people with heads but no bodies, etc. They've also changed the local map system. It used to be that unexplored areas were fuzzy so you could look at the map and see where you haven't been yet. Now they have hard edges at your detection radius so it's really confusing to look at the map and see unexplored areas. I'm glad for the positive changes but the new problems that have been added almost offset the good. But they've updated both the Steam and XBox version since release, so maybe more fixes and updates are to come.
@Jacob J479 Should update when you try to play it. The first update I saw was CS:6521. Today I got an update to CS:6657. Check the main menu in the lower right corner. The first update fixed achievements (which weren't enabled in the first version). Not sure what this one changes.
I get where you are coming from but the main focus (from trailers and whatnot) they said that they upgraded the graphics but then you look at what they did and don't really see anything different. Some people definitely were expecting way too much but the people who are more down to earth aren't wrong. It's like matty said, buying it depends on your context; I bought the game because I have never played it before and remaster or not the game clearly is very good but even then there are some things that should have been changed. The menus are horrible for example, you don't need to remake the game to improve the menus.

They should drop the "remaster" bullshit, and just remake these last gen games. @@scalpingsnake - Its not even just that. You can look at the pictures on the remaster page on steam...the pictures...dont look at all like what the game ended up looking like. They clearly planned on redoing the grapics..and just...didnt.
I have the original release version on PS3 and the guide book. Loved it then and now have it on PS4 and loving it again. Its smoother, cleaner graphics and more responsive in battle, what more do you need? Oh, maybe a DLC next year great, count me in! Just play don't over think it!
Playing it in 4K at 60 FPS. Loving it. I got it as soon as it dropped. Original was my favorite game. This is definitely remastered. They did a lot of work on it. It's beautifully done. I hope this game gets an honest shot this go around for a possible next generation sequel.
Guys you can buy bags in order to have a bigger inventory. For example, in the blacksmith of the first village you can buy the first one. And it stack, the more bags the bigger inventory.

What I like about the remaster is the dynamic zone level scaling(instead of the original fixed to your level whenever you first enter the zone, it gets recalculated each time you enter the zone)...also better look, dynamically tailored to your level and class points.
@3:54 The player character is not the "fateweaver" The PC is known as the "Fateless One". The PC is unique in this world as someone who has no fate. Fateweavers are a group of people that can read the tapestry of fate. Agarth is a Fateweaver and acts as a NPC in the game.
I’m not broke and I love this game. Bought it back in February 2012 bought it for my laptop in 2015 and preordered this when it was announced. I personally don’t care if they did or did not touch anything. The fact that new content will be developed for this game is good enough for me.
Here's some advice from someone whose played this game many times and may save you some trouble later: Universalist is the best Destiny because of how versatile you can build it outside of the others and access to the highest level for all skills while giving you free ability points to max out your weapons ability tree to invest in other places. Does require to do almost every quest outside farming exp. Don't buy armor or weapons, make your own armor and weapons and salvage or sell what your not using. Inventory clutter will be a problem so don't keep anything your not actively using. Some of the best gear is found in the most random places. You can only farm an area for exp before you get nothing. Don't pickup quest items early and don't take more then what's the quest required or be stuck with it forever. If you start a quest finish it or your mini map gets cluttered with quest markers. Dodge and parry will be your best friends. Hope this helps and saves you some frustration later on.

Telling me it’s not possible to change the title in the CS to RE-Reckoning?? Plus, the graphics were not changed as much as they showed. After having to sell my ps3, I've missed playing this game, so this is something I've looked forward to getting again. The gameplay on the original was amazing, bugs and all. Hands down it was and still is my favorite game, and I can't wait to get my copy. Time for my sorcerer to make a comeback
It's such a waste they didn't add a third weapon slot or a complete second load out option. It would be amazing as a Jack of all trades build to be able to switch to daggers or faeblades instead of a sword or hammer on the fly on top of using a staff.
I've been trying to say that this game, graphically *DOES NOT NEED* a remaster. It really didnt. But i support a rerelease because it never got the attention it rightfully deserved. That being said, I just wish I could have access to the new dlc but on the original game. I think i have all the original dlc too. I only bought the game some 3 years ago so I'm not too keen on rebuying it even though im interested in some of the improvemets, I just dont have the money too at a time like this, I havent even worked in almost 6 months now.
i totally agree. I just dont see the added value even with a new DLC. On the other hand i worry about the trend of Remasters/Remakes. I love the prospect but i have a feeling every remake/remaster flops. And they flop because they are a lazy money grab. Updated textures , maybe an add a bloom effect end your done, cash in. And if more and more remakes will flop developers will not bother.

Just look at what went into the $40 THPS remake, then look at what they did to “remaster” this game, and still charge $40. The difference in the value offered between those two games is staggering. Should’ve been a free upgrade on PC with the option to purchase the new DLC, and a $20 port on consoles.

When this game was released it was dwarfed by Skyrim even though it was a better game in terms of story, gameplay, world building and just how much love was poured into it. In some ways though I do hope ir sells really well as this series deserves a sequel.
Ironically, just like Skyrim, its gonna be up to the modders to save this game. The original game, even with all the praise given, still had many many deep design-flaws that held it back. Its a shame there wasn't a bigger modding community over all these years... So its an even bigger disappointment that a professional company couldn't be bothered to address some of the game's rough edges, especially when they marketed this release a Remaster. Im praying that over the next couple of years, some talented modders might take a crack at KoA
I would love to see local co-op, add the spears to usable weapons, Make craftable weapons and armor visually customizable like dyes to change color, or the ability to salvage purple equipment to rebuild it to keep the visuals, or somehow level them up.
The graphical improvements may not be substantial, but the upped frame rate, change to enemy color tag, advanced camera settings and map icons, do make the game easier to adjust to your preference. I recently got a 58" 4K tv with 120hz refresh rate). I had a 43" 1080p 60hz before. So for me, the graphic upscale is incredible. From the sheen of the plate armor, to the stitching on the rogue armor, it just does look much better from a lighting perspective. The game is more driven for consoles and the updates they made (who know, there could be more to come) do make it superior to the original, but it doesn't quite have the touches most modern remasters have. But I don't think that's a bad thing. KOA is a cult classic. You either played it and loved it, or never heard of it. THQ took this game and wanted to rebrand it and re-release it to a larger audience, and they used the base game to do that. THQ is a massive company and tend to listen to their customers. I'm sure in time, we'll get more aspects added to the game to make it more user and share friendly. They are making an after story DLC after all, so there is more in the works. I gave it a 7/10.
Yeah it's a remaster not a remake. It's still a great game regardless of what people expect. It's not a full ground up reboot. Just a fresh coat of paint with some gameplay fixes. Plus Dlc. Worth a buy in my opinion. Some people would rather play fortnite or COD. The graphics are better than the original version. Not supposed to be a total overhaul.
It's been 8 years. The fact that it's still THIS unpolished and buggy is a tell tale sign that the company that released it is just shooing it out for cash. I've been playing it since it came out and I want to play more but I'm going to lose my incentive soon if they aren't budging this level cap
@@lukesimmons3323They rely on mods like ussep. There's also many script fixes like the enchanted reload fix. Beth assume most players won't notice the stats go wrong during enchantment. There's similar bugs all the way back to Morrowind, almost 20 years. They rely on modders to cater for the rest. Ok but then they break those scripts every time they update Creation Club. So yes, absolutely. They ran out of excuses a long time ago.
So far all the reviews I have seen on the game have agreed with Matty. I played the game when it was originally released in 2012, mainly because R.A. Salvatore was one of the main writers. It's disappointing that the remaster isn't as remastered as much as it should have been. Having said that I will probably still get it, if for no other reasons than for the DLC and the hope of a sequel. At $40 it's a little high for the work put into it, but not outrageously so. Hopefully THQ didn't set the sales bar so high as to be unreachable and they will see enough interest (in sales and/or gamer feedback) to do a sequel.
I had it on my 360 back in the day which I no longer have. I'm just ecstatic this game has been resurrected and I can play it again on my PS4. If you've never played this before its as good as any single player action RPG that you could ever play.
I got what I wanted. Re-Textures and lighting was all I wanted. I did get the game at a 60% discount. The game runs a lot smoother and I like that I can change the his to be smaller or not even show up. I bought this in hope that it will do well and hopefully we can get a sequel. They also added additional armors and weapons to the expansion order. A new potion, a special persuade update, and you can see where all the plants you need are. So I am actually quite happy with it.
Love the game! Super happy that someone new picked up the IP so we can see more of the world. =) Find it weird that the video maker didn't even mention that they gave us a 60% discount for owning the game on steam. That 60% discount gose towards the expansion if you get the fate edition as well. If you're going to harp on the price and money part of the re-release and not even mention the huge discount seems kind of dubious to me.
the main appeal for me is that its getting another dlc and if it sells well possibly a sequel it might not be the best in terms of remasters but it gives hope for the future for the IP :)
I have to say, I'm sick of the complaining about this remaster. Sure, the visuals aren't "2020 NeXt GeN sUpEr DeLuXe HyPeR rEaL", but when has Todd Macfarlane EVER had art like that? The textures have been improved, animations smoothed out, and like one other thing. It's the behind the scenes stuff that I was excited for. Zone scaling, loot locking, very hard, etc. But the biggest damn thing everyone seems to be forgetting is that by bringing it to current gen systems, they can do updates, add new content (aside from the new DLC) including QoL features that are mentioned in this video. Everyone is so damn spoiled nowadays that if they don't get exactly what they want, they go cry on the internet. This game is amazing, the remaster is better than the original regardless of the negatives, and for $40 for 100+ hours of content? If that's not worth it to you, then don't get it. And if this damn game gets enough shine, we will see more in this universe. Think of it as an investment into an IP that has a ton of potential
1. IMO this game has some of the most beautiful level design I've ever seen. Just like to stand and look at it sometimes. Damned shame there's no photo mode for screenshots. 2. This game has probably the sexiest female form models you'll ever encounter. Like, holy wow.
Loved this game when I first played it on PS3 back in 2012 and I'm kind of disappointed by this remake so far. I'm now playing the remake on PC and the last quest of the Teeth of Naros DLC was glitched, I found a thread on a forum from 2012 that helped me to get past the glitch. It's a shame that this hasn't been fixed, since it was clearly known for a long time. I also experienced major frame rate drops in the Teeth of Naros areas only. I'm around 25 hours in my playthrough and, don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it for the most part, but that Teeth of Naros DLC almost made me stop. I really hope I will be able to enjoy the rest of the game smoothly without any issues and that this remake is the first step to bring back the series and that we'll get a Kingdom of Amalur 2 in the coming years !
So if they clean up quests on the minimap and add loot all, you would feel good about it? Imo, it doesn't need drastic graphical improvement. But I like your quality of life ideas.
I LOVE this game. Been getting back into Re Reckoning. I love that the combat is actually fun and the lore is fascinating. It’s also pretty neat that if you search stuff related to the lore of this game you’ll find similar concepts in Celtic and Norse mythology
Okay so, you can respec any time in the game, I think it gets expensive but technically you never have to start a new character to try a new build. Graphically, I don't know if you went and actually looked at the older game and compared the two but there is absolutely a major difference in quality. The remaster absolutely looks better than the original, of all the reviews I've seen fextralife seems to be the only one that actually went and compared the two. I also always found the circle icons to be fine... they only ever show you the objectives for your quests in a given area, and to me it just helped me keep focusing on the gameplay going from point to point rather than constantly opening my map and swapping quests out. To me, the only thing the game needed, were the things the developers actually changed; the level scaling and loot changes. Zones will stay more relevant for significantly longer. There were zones in the original that I NEVER got to do at level, having outleveled them before ever reaching them. Loot especially was my biggest gripe with the original, before it was totally random. Now, it still is random, but the game leans towards your character build and will more often give you loot appropriate for your build. I didn't even know about the extra 4 abilities till now, that's an excellent change. To say this remaster is "not worthy" of KoA I think is dishonest and is being voiced by a lot of reviewers right now. I reckon about half of the community thinks this is a disappointing remaster, which I simply do not agree with. The devs delivered on exactly what they said they would, and showed off exactly what they were delivering. I don't understand the expectations that some reviewers and commenters had on this remaster, its exactly what I was expecting given all the information provided. That isn't to say this is all perfect, performance is lacking with super sampling too high, and you've obviously showed off at least one hurtful bug where an ability is outright not working. However, that said the remaster is absolutely on point for what it should of been, a remaster of an already great game made better by good quality of life changes, better gameplay balances in scaling and loot in addition to very hard mode, and an OBVIOUS graphical upgrade (if you at least compare to the original). Add that to the fact that its a whopping 60% for owners for the original. It's an absolute steal.
I loved the original, played it on my 360, then bought it on PC (origin) 4-5 years ago and played it again. Tought I would pick it up since I haven´t played any of the of the original DLCs. But looking at the price, it´s simply not worth $40 for a third buy, will consider it when the game with upcoming DLC is in the $30 range.
So I bought this game yesterday through my xbox store. Been looking forward to this for a long time. I'm an origional fan of this title. However my version I received doesn't seem to have the additions I've heard multiple people talking about. My game did not offer a very hard option for gameplay. It also doesn't offer a FOV slider. Is something wrong with the copy I received?
Not at all. I’m not specifically targeting you when I say this, but I never understood this mindset. It’s a game that my audience is spending money on. I will gladly befriend anyone, but I serve my audience firstz

I think it was a good take, the only thing I personally would have touched on is the current discount price for people who owned it. The 22 it currently costs with that discount nets you the expansion and the soundtrack, as well as the 'not great port'. Personally I still felt like that price was pretty good for the other things it gets you.
I feel this, but as somebody who just needs an open world RPG and never got to play the DLCs on PS3, i cant wait to get it... if it ever comes to any of my local stores :(
ReShade goes a long way in improving the visuals of the original. Looks like it’ll have to do so again because this honestly looks VERY close to the original in terms of graphics. The UI scale for 2K/4K resolutions and FOV slider is very welcome though.
Might just be me, but I was playing the original on xbox this morning up until the time the remaster was ready to play, and the graphical updates are very much noticeable. I cant say the same for PC as mine went out several days ago and cant experience it myself.
This video actually made me subscribe.. coz even after being a fan, you stated your honest opinion.. the people i hate the most are fanboys and corporate shills.. you have my respect.
Gotta say, I think yourself and Karak are the most negative people I follow in terms of this game. Everybody else is pretty positive on it in my circles.
But have they fixed the popping and flickering texture though?! It used to pissed me off when I was playing the original. Imagine stepping 2 metres closer to a big tree and suddenly its root branch texture changes all of a sudden.
I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure the original had 8 ability options, at least on console. You could press a trigger I think and swap between two sets of four. I may be remembering wrong though
You are looking at "remaster" the wrong way. They made a near perfect duplicate of the original and are going to ADD new dlc to THAT which is something no other "remastered" game has done that I can think of. So they HAVE remastered it but in a DIFFERENT way then typical but just as legitimate.
What kind of logic is that? Shitting out the same game and selling it for a higher price isn't a "remaster", it's damn near robbery lmao. They did little to nothing to actually remaster it, other than fixing some bugs and making it playable on next gen consoles. It's a great game, but this is a lazy remaster, right up there with the original dark souls remaster type of lazy.
Some people just want to experience the game the way it was, and don’t require some fancy overhaul. The logic is there, and it doesn’t need to be your cup of tea. However that does not give you the right to be rude.

When you promise to remaster a game, I expect that, especially if I'm pushing out my hard earned money for what is effectively the same price for a new game. This is not an actual remaster, and it's extremely disappointing. Second of all, there is no logic there. Selling an already finished game for the same price of new games, that was hardly touched upon, with the same outdated mechanics, and calling it a remaster, is a downright lie and is frankly insulting it's buyers intelligence. Third of all, I wasn't being rude. I never called the original OP any harsh names, I never said their opinion was invalid, I simply called out their logic and reasoning. Just bc some people apparently can't handle some harsh and gritty language usage doesn't make it rude.
@@jeremyalgood7230 also lastly, correct me if I'm wrong, you can no longer purchase a copy of the original game on online stores. Likely for the same reason Dark Souls remaster did, which was extremely shitty then, and it is now. In conclusion, this was a shitty cash grab, and as much as I love the game and I really do want to see it become more than just a one time thing, I refuse to look the other way just bc people are nostalgic for it.

They spent time REMAKING it so it would function on newer systems THEN figured how to ADD dlc to it all for a LOWER price then it's first sale. Seriously how many times has skyrim been reboxed and people have bought it and you are complaining about them reboxing this ONCE?

@@katherineminor3402 I have the original Xbox 360 version and I have this new version. And I can tell you that the textures have been upgraded immensely. I have no idea what people are going on about in their criticisms of the lack of remastering of graphics. I have run them both on my Xbox one and the original looks all grainy whilst Re-reckoning is pristine, vivid and clear. It’s an absolute joy to play. Maybe PC doesn’t look different, but console most definitely does.
Everyone talking about graphics and combat issues. Though my biggest concern is: have they changed anything to the companions like relationship and most importanly, is it possible to find Alyn again or will she just give you another heartbreak?
I can get it for 60% off at the moment because I own the original on Steam but it sounds like it isn't even worth that. Shame it's such a brilliant rpg but I can't justify spending money for a couple of improvements.
There are quite a few issues with the Xbox One version at the moment. Achievements aren’t unlocking, very hard difficulty is missing. There’s some character creation problems where certain hairstyles have messed up textures and eye brow colours are missing. Apparently there was meant to be a day one patch but that got delayed.
It deserved better from initial launch all those years ago,this was a great game and it just wasn't received well bc Skyrim came out around the same time.And people don't have attention spans enough to play it.Saw a number of comments saying they played but didn't finish.It should've had updates but it didn't keep making money bc microtransaction cancer didn't exist back then.Support this game and watch an amazing sequel happen.
The game does look a lot different than the original there was a German RU-vid who did a comparison perfectly and if was very noticeable. The loot changes are great and level scaling is great. I think it's a fine remaster as they never said it wasn't changing any core features of the game in the first place. The elevated price for the title is because they're probably aiming for a sequel and need to see interest and profit returns for the remaster
I’m loving it so far on Xbox One X. I didn’t expect a new game and THQ wasn’t going to jeopardize their money for an unsure selling point. The game speaks volumes in general that even after 8 years it’s better than most games releasing today. I can already tell I’ll invest over 75 hours into it. I get if you’re gonna put it under a microscope then yea it would get you aggravated, but for the people who can look past the small stuff this is a phenomenal game worthy of a sequel.
People may consider this a lazy remaster but they fixed some things that were annoying in the first game and also brought it back to get the attention it deserved in 2012. I can't wait to go back and play it again. I don't understand why people are having an issue that it looks the same. It was a beautiful game 10 years ago and still is. Yes the graphics could be better after 10 yrs. but I go back and play older games because they are fun and enjoyable, not because they have awesome graphics. Maybe I just don't care as much as other people but as long as a game is fun then I'm good. And this game is loads of fun.

There is a definite quality upgrade when playing it. I have the original and spent a few hours today on this remaster. There is a noticeable difference, but there is only so much they can do with a remaster. At 4K 60 it looks great.
Honestly this felt like releasing the 360/ps3 versions on modern systems but maxed settings. Sure they redid some models and gave welcome tweaks, but if they were just going to primarily do a graphics tweak it should've been full remaster ala the Halo anniversary reskins. This should've been like a Fallout 3/NV jump to Fallout 4 graphically. Redo actual textures not just higher res them, clean up some of the janky animation glitches etc. This is good, but it could have been godly.
