Stuff I was trying to avoid talking about because potential spoilers: -Unique bosses and ambushes -Accessories that turn classes on their head. -What would be sequence breaks in any other game are intended here.
@coffeepotato This is probably a bit late of a comment since this video is from 1 moth ago, but if you loved this game I would recomend checking the other games from the developer, specifically Horizons Gate. I have not tried Kingsvein, but I loved the experience of the one I mentioned, and it honestly just looks like the same game with different graphics and mby more indepth on the systems... who knows, at first glance it looked extremely similar. If you do check it I hope you enjoy it :)
Your enthusiasm for tactics RPGs is truly infectious. I’m glad you found these games out and am really looking forward to your commentary about them and any guides you release further down the line.
It's a fascinating little gem. Especially after what just wet down with Crimson, it's wild to see many of those same ideas completed here on top of a million other things. The mount interactions are fascinating. Also there's something hilarious about ordering the mount to drag a guy under a statue so their rider can hop off and magically drop it on his face. Legitimately some of the tastiest mechanical cake I've had the privilege of chewing on for a while. You should reach out and cover it, too!
@@CoffeePotato I'm adding it to my to do list (which is already overflowing, but such is the CC life.) Thanks for covering it or it probably would have gone right under my nose.
@@TitaniumLegman My folks have been yelling at me to try their games for years, it's a dev that really goes above and beyond. Know what you mean, that guilty dread of pending preview codes 🦆
Good to see another release from this developer. My favorite thing about their design style is that I'm never left frustrated wondering why I can't "just use X to Y" because of how much interaction is possible. Not enough RPGs offer such a degree of logical freedom.
I've never played any of their games and I remember seeing Alvora or Voidspire and thinking it looked a bit rough but possibly interesting. Just saw this on the new release section of steam and thought it looked really cool and was looking for some kind of review. Video is very informative. Might pick this up and you get a sub.
Glad to point you to a good decision 👍 I was in the exact same mindset until circumstances made me try it. Real eye opening playthrough of just how much work went into their games.
@@CoffeePotato Ok I did end up buying it and I'm only a few hours in and I love it. The class system is so much like the FFT job system, but with some improvements that I like. I'm gonna have to go back and give his other games a try. I love tactics RPGs, but I'm really very picky about the ones I do like so I'm often quite hesitant. This one scratches that itch.
Hey it's not lore accurate. Wouldn't Arycelle be a voltrace as she's a lightning element 😂. You made me restart voidspire. Didn't manage to finish it as I keep grinding to master all classes. Dunno if it works in kingsvein but it's intersting to level mage class for melee and melee for mage class for the hp and mp stat as you keep them no matter the class you end up with. On another note, I found that voidspire was speerun in 1h22 🤯 and I'm 11h in and still having a blast.
Maybe, but her talking dooooes kind sound like gravel. I believe the stats work similarly, you do keep all of your stat and rank gains. I'd believe it. I spent months cheering Link's Awakening as a kid. Speedrun is less than 5 minutes 😆
I mean....you don't need them, you can be the summons. You can already create lightning storms, blizzard walls...maybe some Daedalus action from your Marksmen and their scoped shrapnel crossbows that technically get allowed to use melee moves because don't question that beauty.
@@CoffeePotato Thats something else im not quite finding, what are all the classes in this game? From what ive found theres like 15 with them being less then the creators other games due to the shift but I there's no real showcase out yet.
No idea, I got delayed from getting into repeat playthroughs by life being insane. Between our pets being attacked, the snowpocalypse, and my car breaking, I could only dedicate evenings to get through the whole thing.
@@CoffeePotato uff that sucks. Hope the animals are OK, cars can be fixed and we can do nothing about mother nature other than let father time undo the snow. Im going to buy the game, no questions, but the time and investment into making a character, only to have to start from square one again is something im gonna know.
@@brianjohnson5272 Considering how wide their skillet can get, I know personally I haven't felt that new game dread just because of how fast you can progress towards goals. I'd imagine this thing will be some Breath of the Wild nonsense Speedrun wise.
