Welcome to the first video of my new "Overwatch Science" channel. If you enjoy it be sure to leave a comment and feel free to suggest a topic for another video. Thanks to Marblr for the inspiration and style of presentation.
i was just watching didn't even realize that this was a small channel. thought it was a channel like marblr. this channel is going places at this pace, awesome production quality, keep it up!
I went down to type "I've been aiming at D.vas thighs all along, idiots and then saw this comment. My displeasure is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
The "three months later me talking" edit genuinely pained me. I can't imagine the reaction you had when you were mostly done with this video, and then got hit with the season 10 tank changes which completely mess with your findings due to the headshot damage reduction change
It's not that he did something bad, it's just that Marblr exaggerates more things for comedic effect, I.e. the end on his spawns video. This guy seems more calm and collected. A different style, but still good!
Been saying this for a while - Kiriko needs the Widowmaker treatment. Give her less health since her hitbox is significantly smaller than then rest of the cast. Her having her disgustingly broken abilities is kinda ok actually if it means she's made out of glass.
She would still be broken in good hands. It would just cover the wound. Making a character harder to play or clunky is one of the laziest way to try to solve a balance issue. Widow can still be oppressive, she's just easier to stoomp with counterswap and even "harder" to learn.
@@aeni13 then give Tracer 250hp and see if it's just covering the wound or an actual valid design decision. That being said, I'd prefer for suzu being less of an intrusive ability and acting as cleansing without phasing.
I agree, so much utlility and damage needs to have a significant downside. I would suggest fix her hit and hurt box, but your change is way better. Giving her low health would also prevent the teleport bs her mains do. It would force them to use it early as it would be easily to either kill her or shoo her away
@@Very_Okay originally i thought that was a clickbait video cuz it had like 1k views so i didnt watch it cuz of that, but today it again appered in my recommendation with 80k views
One thing to note about abilities, CC's would also contribute to BHE. When you're hard CC'd you are not dealing damage; in other words that CC provided the character with damage immunity for N seconds. Ana's sleep is a big example as 5 seconds of invulnerability every 28 seconds assuming a 50% accuracy would jump her up a few tiers. Could probably apply the average accuracy stats from Overbuff to calculate this without testing. Hog hook, Orisa javelin (take with or without wall slam?), Doom punch (charged or not?)... Etc Also, I just realized : since you're counting a primaling Winston aping you around, what about a Roadhog with whole hog booping you around? Not to mention his hitbox shifts slightly during ult (harder to hit headshots if I'm correct) Great video on such an underexplored topic. Really enjoyed it.
This is 100% going into my "Keep in mind very promising and talented creators" playlist. This is so amazingly researched and the editing makes understanding the information for people like me (ADHD) really easy. Intentionally or not, thank you for making it easy for me to understand ❤
Hey man great video I was entertained for the full 32 minutes, with suggestions I wonder if you could do a video about the fastest ow characters in different situations, like burst speed or a continuous speed, I just think that would be really cool, good luck for your future endeavours🙌❤️
this is why I love overwatch and have never gotten bored of it since I started playing in 2018. the different variables for each hero, the almost infinite number of unique gameplay interactions and outcomes, and people like this who spend so much time calculating and studying this sort of thing just out of a love and interest in the game and how it works. overwatch is far from a perfect game, balance is always weird and off and it's incredibly frustrating at times but also incredibly rewarding at times too. I really appreciate the work and dedication that goes into this sort of video. absolutely amazing !!
I absolutely love this video! Well-made, well edited, discusses a really interesting concept that I haven’t seen analyzed with this depth anywhere else! When you’ve hit 10k subs, please don’t forget about those of us who were here from the start 🙏
excellent video and method. From the intro, to the method used, to layout of your stats. Nice explanation of different factors that affect the stats too at the end. I was thinking of those myself . Its a super cool and i can see all the work you put into it. 10/10 brother
Great first video dude, we can tell the amount of effort you’ve put in and it shows. Regardless of different characters of having different aiming styles it’s always great to see these kinds of in-depth analysis in OW and can also shed light for the developers to do some slight tweaks for some hit boxes or animations.
this is a super interesting and very well presented/made video! definitely deserves more views :) i think another interesting avenue to explore might be time-to-kill on each of the different heroes using one hitscan character like cassidy or ashe, first using only primary fire, then with abilities or ads shots (like on ashe); another neat one could be looking at all the different one-shot combos that heroes have, analyzing the dps of the combo, and which heroes it would be beneficial to use the combo on. keep up the great work!
This man needs all the engagement possible. A lot of quality work put into this video. Nice work!! Looking forward to seeing more. Subbed, liked, and commented! ❤
I love how he talks about the way characters actually move left to right. I knew I wasn't tripping seeing as some characters have very odd and unpredictable animations compared to others
1/4th of the way into the video and im already satisfied with the content brother. good work. a really interesting read for sure. hope this video picks up traction because its seriously a good video.
That was an amazing video ! The work put into this is phenomenal, clear and honestly quite interesting ! I don't know if I'll ever put it to use since I'm not good enough to, but I think that's something that could help a lot of people, even maybe pro-scene if it wasn't already studied but kept private. Thanks for putting yourself in this torture and sharing it :D
Amazing effort. I've stopped playing and won't be coming back but hopefully you'll intersect with what I play at some point so I'll get a cool video. Subbed.
Honestly I would really appreciate a video on how to dodge. I've gone into it myself when in masters on moira this season, but I've never seen someone t500 level cover it! Great video❤
i never comment but man this was a masterpiece. i recognize the time this took and i watched it twice; the video was so good. i subscribed and i like the video 👍.
This actually might be the most informative overwatch video I've ever watched... And I've consumed way too much overwatch content. I'll definitely remember this video.
really well put together video. the barrier equivalent metric made it really easy for me to understand. you showed how to aim against every character with perfect movement but do you think you could do a video where you show how to move on some characters when up against different match ups? i know instinctively not to jump in front of a widow maker, but i jumping around saves my life when fighting a kiriko. maybe there's a "best" way to move against each character that you could get to the bottom of. thanks for the awesome video!
Watched the entire video and subbed and wow the quality is great in everything from editing to pacing (at least for me) and would love more content from you :) However, with this video being in development for over 3 months expecting this kinda video frequently will prob not happen (at least without burning out sooner or later) nonetheless I enjoyed this video (^^)b
Really thought it was Marbl at first bacuse of the high video quality and this close attention to numbers and graphs That's a compliment though! Keep it up, amazing stuff!
Absolutely amazing video! Even through the barrier stats aren't that useful in game I did have fun looking at them and I hope to see more videos like these. Btw we all can see the effort you put into, keep it up!
This is an exceptional video. As a self-proclaimed Overwatch nerd (yes I hate myself), I love seeing stuff like this even if you aren't Marblr. It made me understand why I find it so easy to shoot heroes like Torb and Bastion and why I find it INCREDIBLY hard to shoot Illari. Keep going man, you earned my subscription.
