Alive II was one of the first Kiss albums I purchased. To be honest, it's not really a live album 100%. Some of those songs were played during soundcheck, and others like Hard Luck Woman were not even played on that particular tour at all. Tape loops of audience responses were dubbed in to give it that effect, and things were corrected later. Peter Criss's drums we're not fixed, those were the original performance, as well as Ace's Shock Me. Still, I enjoyed the album. I did not like Paul's introductions or when he screamed a "yeah" at the end of Ace's song.

what i have noticed is that Alive broke them as a major band only because song of the songs are WAY too slow on the studio albums…whoever produced Firehouse on the studio album, really blew it(as just one example)
I have been a Kiss fan since the mid 70's and have rocked both albums, but Alive is by far the better album. The songs, the sound and the atmosphere is better. The audience mix is way overboard on II.
I like both albums But I favor the production on KISS Alive. The overall production and mix on Alive 2 is somewhat murky.... It does not have the clarity and the bite that Alive does. On Alive 2... I think there is too much white noise from the crowd in the mix. There's a reason for that for all you KISS nerds... On Alive.... Eddie Kramer was full hands on with that record. On Alive 2, Eddie's biggest contribution in the studio was the fourth side of the studio tracks. Although he recorded all of the live tracks.... He did not produce or mix them. He dumped all the tapes off at a recording studio in Nashville Tennessee for the in-house guys to do a lot of that work. I myself have been in the music business for a long time and I've never become famous but I've been around a lot of studios and other musicians.... Blah blah blah nobody cares about that. I was in Nashville recording something and I got to meet the guys in the studio that actually did the mixing and the selecting of the material for Alive 2. Long story short when they found out I was a KISS fan, they told me the story about Eddie dropping off all of the reel to reel tapes..... And to quote the guys from the studio there were so many of them they were stacked to the ceiling. The guys told me they all got paid very well and got paid for overtime because it took them forever to go through everything. Eddie had final say on the finished product and was happy with it. I'm guessing personally at that point KISS was such a big cash cow.... They just needed to pump that product into the market. You do get Eddie 100% on side four... And it shows. Peter's drums sound amazing. Rocket Ride is a really good production. In just one last thing if you made it this far in my stupid post.... I read some comments where people were talking about KISS played too slow on the original records..... That's because those original records actually had some "swing" to them. If you don't play a musical instrument yourself you're probably not going to understand that. When people play live they tend to play faster because they're going off the energy of the crowd. When you're in the studio you are focused on the integrity of the song. That is why a live version is never exactly like the studio version. For Pete's sake.... Musicians like to have a little breathing room when it comes to performing. The studio is very strict. Anyway I have yanked on enough and nobody cares. It is the interwebs. Everybody's got something to say and everybody's got an opinion and it don't mean squat. I mostly left this comment for for the person that created this content. I was tired of watching videos about how our world is coming down and politics. So I decided to do something fun for myself about something that doesn't matter at all. So if the Creator is actually read through all of my crap... Thanks for posting something that just makes me happy.
