Guitar player here, not a drummer...but damn I don't understand why Peter gets so much criticism. Sounds GREAT to me. Good feel, nice grace notes, good footwork, EXCELLENT tones on every drum. What's NOT to like??
His drumming is great. Nice feel and in the pocket. I think its just his personality and substance problems that killed his abilities, he isn't a very nice guy either!
@@flyingburritobro68 Find some washed up hippie pseudo folk western band channel to enjoy...... oh, there probably are not any and with good reason. Although I actually like Graham Parsons. Peter Criss is a fantastic drummer. But see how off putting my first comment came out? Food for thought my friend.
I could have used this back in the late 70's when my band was covering this stuff. Now that it CAN be done, it doesn't seem to matter to anybody other than those that still love this stuff and want to learn it. My band and I used to sit glued to the radio waiting for stuff that we could cover. The intros and outros were usually covered by DJ's and commercials. If that happened, then we'd go and buy a bloody 45 rpm single and learn the song, only to find that we had pretty much worked the beginnings and endings out the way they were supposed to be. It wasn't a waste. I still have all the singles....
I was 7 years old when my older brother brought this album home. I was instantly drawn to the artwork on the RockAndRollOver cover. Then he put the record on and I was changed forever.
Same exact story with me except I was 11 years old. My 11-month older brother was years ahead of me on bringing cool music into the house. He got it for Christmas 76. Still my favorite Kiss studio album.
I dare anybody to listen to Peter's parts isolated on several Kiss songs and tell me he's a crappy drummer. This song in particular sounds deceptively easy on drums.
Gene Simmons, a man of fame With his music and his name But little known about his love For fast food from above His appetite is not for light For salads or meals of slight But for burgers, fries, and shakes And pizzas with all sorts of bakes He loves his fast food, oh so well The grease, the crunch, the sweet sweet smell And though it may not be too healthy To him, it's worth it, oh so wealthy For in his world of rock and roll There's nothing like a burger whole To satisfy his hunger's needs And fuel his musical deeds So let us celebrate Gene's feast Of fast food, oh what a beast For though it may not be for all It's a part of his rock and roll call.
But, but, but, Paul Stanley says Peter was NEVER a drummer, and couldn't keep a beat to save his life........ Yeah, but he can still play drums and sing. So he's actually got TWO over on you there, Paul !!!!
@@DavidM-mb1vx no, it's perfect, so when he opens it up on the last choruses with the crashing ride- it builds to an exciting crescendo. it wouldn't do that if he did it every time. it was smart and intuitive and anticipatory. that's good musical drumming.
Off there greatest album, R&R Over. I started playing guitar in 1979 a few years after hearing this & this song was I think the second song I learned after Aerosmith Live bootleg version of Train Kept a rollin.
I took acoustic lessons at 9 years old.right before I turned 13 I got turned onto electric guitar by this very song right here on kc casums top 40. When I turned 14 santa brought me my first electric.
I've been a fan of the ORIGINAL band since the early days. As a bass player, I always thought gene Simmons barely knew how to play. Ace was a fantastic lead player, Paul was an ok singer and passable rhythm player, but Peter Criss was by far the most talented of the group. That being said, all of them together were unbelievably awesome, and due to gene's absolutely genius marketing skills, they were THE supergroup in the 70's..
I just downloaded the tracks and put them together and the ending is full. It's doesn't fade out. It's sounds cool but I added the beginning and the end of Dr. Love 78.
Cool, What software program do you use? it's funny what you don't hear in the mix but pull it out and you'd notice right away. Eddie Kramer is a genius!
@@jimilove7773 I bought their albums for years starting in 74. Loved them as a kid but people need to quit acting like they are great musicians. They are far from it. Ace is the best of the lot. Bruce Kulick was better than all of them as well.
