The first 2 albums... the band was hungry. Such a dirty street smart sound.Hardly a bad track on them. Even kissin time was ok. Shame they lost the plot.
The guitar solo on 100,000 Years is some of Ace’s most impressive work. Not my favorite solo, but very impressive. Let Me Know is a favorite. I love the dual lead vocals from Gene and Paul. Firehouse has always sounded like a stripper song to me. Album cover was not one I liked when I was young, but I dig it now. I’m already working on the 50th anniversary deluxe reissue for them (without their consent, of course). I would want a disc with the original track listing as well as a never before heard studio version of Black Diamond with an extended intro more similar to how it is played in concert and a studio version of Acrobat (which I imagine doesn’t exist). By the way, Black Diamond should have replaced Nothing To Lose on the Unplugged album.
Kiss the original lineup only is my personal favorite band ever!!! And, I compare the original album to like my favorite movie 🎬 The Godfather!!! The original is always the best 👌!!!! Black Diamond is their best song 🎵 ever, especially live!!! Catman and Ace were amazing 👏!!!
Any album containing classics like Strutter , Deuce , Cold Gin , 100,000 Years and Black Diamond has got to be good. Personally my 6th favourite KISS album.
Brilliant stunning background picture. The inner sleeve of Alive 2 is mostly what sold me on the group. The other 30 % was the fact that I was just learning to play the drums and wanting to pursue it as a hobby. I know that this is my first comment where I have stated this. You have said that you are in your early 50's. If Im wrong I would like to apologize. I was 8 yrs old when KISS hit their status as favorite rock band in the US in 77. By 84, when I saw my first Kiss concert with my Dad and younger brother, who was 12, I had 7 Kiss albums. I never heard or saw Peter Criss or Ace Frehley. When I did see the concert the lineup, in make up, was Paul, Gene, Eric Carr and... Vinnie Vincent with his hot pink guitar. Eewww!!! Concert lasted about 1hr. I remember the people in front of us standing on the shoulder and I couldn't see. My dad politely asked them to move aside so my brother and I could see. Thinking back now... I'm thrilled, at age 14, I saw Eric Carr. Vinnie didn't do anything for me.😮😢
OK, Black Diamond!!!! Best Kiss song ever, because live in the 70's the whole damn band sounded amazing every time!! Peter and Ace shined like a mother fucker on Black diamond!!@
IMO this album songs very thin more so than Hotter Than Hell. You can tell kissin’ time was recorded later. To me sonically it sounds like they have more confidence in their playing.
The debut is my favorite studio Kiss album . The first album I ever had as a kid and it got me into the band so I had to get Love gun and Alive 2 then I became a huge fan. For some reason I have always loved the production on this album. Richie Wise had a good mix and effects with Ace's solos and Peter's drums. Vocals are clear and to me this album is timeless. A heavy rockin Beatlesish album, 1 reason I love it. Black Diamond is my favorite Kiss song.
I'm a big time fan of the debut album and Hotter than Hell 🔥. If Kiss didn't have to carry the weight of being a success for Casablanca by creating hit singles, they would have been a heavier sounding rock band. By the time the made Dressed to Kill, their sound was watered down big time. I still love that album but It was not as heavy sounding. She is a track that suffered from those consequences.
@@jesuscampos8136 Dressed To Kill is my favorite KISS studio album to listen to, front to back, but YES, I absolutely get what you're saying and I agree. 👍 By DTK the band knew Casablanca wouldn't be around much longer without some sales, so DTK had to be a bit more on the accessible side. And, as you point out, there's a certain integrity in the heaviness of those first two albums that KISS fans would never really get again. In that way, it's basically a totally different band in '74. One that a lot of old-school fans prefer to this day.
To me Rock and Roll Over is where the perfect marriage of early Kiss and the radio friendly Kiss meet. I think that album was freaking heavy. I love Ace's guitar work on this album. All band members were in primetime in this era👍💥🎸
Love the debut even if most are on Alive! They are different enough sounding to make for a great album. Tho I’m sure Eddie Kramer or even Neal Bogart (Like DTK) would of made it even better
I agree completely with your opinion and comments, awesome video. Btw, I love Yoshiki’s version of Black Diamond, I just thought that is was as different as you can get. One day I was watching a documentary on a band my son likes called X Japan (We are X, definitely recommend), the drummer and piano player is Yoshiki! I was speechless, these guys are legends in Japan, and have a huge following in the U.S. I’ve have the kiss my ass album and videos for 25 years or whatever, and never knew.

This is absolutely a incredible experience for me bc this band means so much to me bc of my child hood friends and friends today they bless me with incredible music 🎶
