On this night in KISStory, Peter Criss was "unable to play," and was thus replaced by his drum tech, Ed Kanon, who wore his costume and facepaint. The final KISS taboo is broken setting the stage for the future...

He did a damn good job. Especially having to play last second. His meter is good too. I've watched several songs from this show. I noticed a couple spots on some intros but overall he did a damn good job for someone that had no idea they were playing that night.

Like Makin Love intro, but overall most non-drummers wouldn't know the issues. He did a great job

Paul disguises his jealousy as Ace steals the show with consummate ease.

I remember when I got this video from the source. It took quite a while and a few friends to leak it. It's funny I don't even have a copy for myself anymore, I think! LOL

It's bad when your drum tech is better than you. I love Peter Criss from 1973-1978, but after that he was basic at best.

You know why Peter sounded bad? His drum kits were micced badly, he was being bullied by Gene backstage because Gene is an unapologetic button pusher, and he was getting screwed over. In short a certain somebodies were trying to force Peter out of the band to not make themselves look bad. They do have a history of that the lying, cheating bastards. No one will get me to think any differently because Peter used to kick ass in the 70's early on before the Coke addiction, which I might add Gene and Paul poorly handled as they always do. I'm going to call a spade a spade and I'm not going to be gentle with those guys at all because I'm not one of their lemmings being chased off a cliff by an off camera grip. Hell, I betcha if Peter was treated right, like right now in 2017 he'd be kicking ass on the drums.

I agree, I just think Peter wouldn't be in the physical condition for a tour nowadays.

MonsterHunterRoon his drums were mic’d badly? No, they were triggered with prerecorded sounds and Gene was bullying him backstage, he got screwed 96-00 but he didn’t know it until 2000.

Ryan Redman I wouldn’t say Ed played better, he played slower than Peter.

At the time I believe Ed was only the 2nd person to have ever played onstage with KISS after Garth Brooks. Then came Joe Perry, Phil Cullen, Adam Lambert, Caleb…. who else??

Wasn’t sick, just didn’t want to show up cause his arms hurt. Peter was a bitch of a man during the 90s KISS, always loved Peter, but he just wasn’t built for this tour imo at that time

Ed has a way better meter than Peter. Tempos are strong and never waiver. Can't believe I've never seen any of this stuff before!!

Vinicius Andrade hardly, he got winded half way through the show, he did great for last minute but Peter played faster and never got tired and he was way older than Ed.
