I don't think a lot of you realize how KISS was receaved in the 70's . They were basically blacklisted by the radio station . You never heard their music on the radio like other groups . Their fame was from word of mouth and touring . I don't blame them for merchandising the way they do . It's a middle finger in the face to all the blacklisting they got in the 70's during their heyday .
I agree. I was one of those middle fingers. Saw them at age 13 in '77, everyone told me... They Suck, I Suck, KISS ARMY sucks. Look around you. Who's still standing?
Excellent interview. When GS is in a good mood (and not to bored or to full of himself or whatever) and has his (more humble) glimmer twin beside him, things go smoothly, and we hear the words of a human being and not a cartoon character. There's definitive tension between the two, but it's no big deal ... they're just like an old married couple ... hell, they're almost cute ...

Somehow they did Beatles and Stones type stuff ,just plain Rock and Roll,actually more like ACDC,and burned their images into our brains as comicbook super heroes.It's a one of a kind band.
They built not just a band, but a worldwide brand, a multi-million dollar business. They did it with hard work over decades - they've paid their dues. You may not like their 'products', but you can't deny their longevity and success. I'm not a Kiss fan btw, never have been, but I respect what they've done.
Business, big buck's, product's, commercialism are the motives for Kiss, musical integrity and being musically creative is not their motive. A band such as this could only be created in the states.

Hey Eddie Trunk....Jim Henson Studios was"A&M RECORDS HOLLYWOOD" from 1969- 1999! My Uncle was a producer right where you guys were sitting for 25 years.Thank You Herb Alpert & Jerry Moss for allowing this kid [ age 5 1970] access to be at those studios every Summer with my Uncle. Quite an accomplishment but it's got nothing to do with music. Their interviews are ALWAYS about what they did and how it looked. NEVER about what they played and how it sounded. They created one heck of a venue. Yes, they could have changed the world,,,, if they had had something to say.
I was in to KISS when i was young and ventured on to other music after Dynasty but in my later years i have looked back and realized for me there is only one album i still listen to on a regular rotation and that is Dressed to Kill. Great songs and it really sounds better than any other record with out being over productive. Great record.
Surprise Kiss has done so much for any group using stage effects,laser lights stage lifts far as peter criss levitating drums.but my hat's off to them 40 years of music and still living to do a Reunion Tour 👑 and finally getting a spot in the Rock n Roll hall of fame when they weren't wanted.all there albums are some gold more PLATINUM you deserve that KISS ARMY YOU EARN IT.

Simmons has no problem with trunk he told him to his face backstage in circa 2013-14. It’s Paul who dislikes trunk just cause of his opinion on the current lineup of Kiss; and Paul makes no one in kiss and the management have any contact with trunk at all

I love Paul n Gene. They have always been kiss... I love Ace n Peter, but kiss IS paul stanley and Gene simmons. It was their brainchild and if there is any doubt, kiss continued to sell millions after Ace n Peter left
well in 1992 with extreme close up Ace & Peter were Not in the band, here in 2006 they are not in the band, so during the second coming DVDs 1996-97 tour Ace & peter do speak.

The way Pawl Thstanley of KITH says "Rock and roll" is so corny amd affected and jts always given me douche chills, because i knew exactly that. Then he does his own autobiography reading and i get to hear him say it how he really does and was proven correct.
They were masters at self promotion, highly self motivated, and their stage show was 2nd to none, Simmons was professional and disciplined, but onstage he literally became the demon conjured from hell !!!
KISS in makeup is Gene, Paul, Peter and Ace, not Gene, Paul and two imposters in Peter and Ace's makeup! There is only ONE catman and ONE spaceman, and that is Peter Criss and Ace Frehley!
I find it interesting that this interview occurred in 2005/2006. So, obviously Tommy and Eric were already in Peter and Ace's makeup and performing with the band at this point. I realize that perhaps it wasn't the correct time and place to bring it up, but Eddie always says he's had a problem with Eric and Tommy in Peter's and Ace's makeup, but he seems completely cool with Gene and Paul here and even made the comment toward the end of the video (around 44:40) that "Kiss is an amazing story and Kiss is still continuing today and that's what's so beautiful about it." Hmmmmmm......
Eddie was/is an employee of VH1. Either he does the job and earns the paycheck, or they find someone else to do it. Trunk did the professional thing, left his opinion at the door, and fed his family, just like Paul and Gene are doing on their end. Everyone does their job, everyone goes home happy. The music business is still a business fellas, nobody's doing it for charity.
This must have been before the Paul/Eddie feud. I like Eddie Trunk but I wish he wouldn't take so many things in rock so personally. I know its not Ace or Peter in the make-up but come on Paul and Gene are legends. You have to respect that.

The Crue tour saved Kiss everyone went for Crue & Got Kissed! I remember then Lick it up Happened if they kept the Make Up at that time the 80's would of never happened then it reversed itself in 94 and Peter came in for Konventions and saved Kiss AGAIN.....Cough Beth
I love a million things about KISS!! ...but can't stand Gene and Paul's "anger, hate, revenge and any other similar term". They really don't get that that hate talk hurts them more than helps. They could easily defend themselves when they feel attacked with a comment that lightly defuses it, then level shifting, to a different topic. Paul does a better job at it. Gene comes across as 13 yr old girl bullying her classmates.
