Yes, that is correct. However, with it being individual boards underneath you would want to put a bead of adhesive on each board before putting the subfloor down. If your using nails adhesive is absolutely necessary as nails don’t hold as tight and come loose over time. Screws on the other hand hold much tighter and will not come loose. So if using screws ever 6 inches it may be over kill but it wouldn’t hurt anything to use it. Thanks! :)

Dude Thanks!!! Im in a similar situation. Im remodeling my kitchen and the subfloor is patchy but for the most part its good so im going to add plywood after i remove the original wooden floor.
