We had one of those styles of faucets installed in our kitchen. I made them install it hot back and cold forward. They said it was backwards. I said I don’t care. The one in our old house was that way and that’s how I feel it should be.
You can shop for faucets at the big box stores, but should buy at the plumbing supply store. This is because, even under the exact same model number, the parts in the box other than the knobs and spout at the big box store will be budget plastic, but will be higher grade, often brass, when you buy what appears to be the same product at a quality plumbing supply.
I looked up my cheap Delta faucet on HD, I paid 54.00 dollars in 2015 and it is the exact same price 7 years later. I lube mine up every year. Thus far no issues with my cheapo. The base got a few spots as if it corroded under the chrome, but that's it. I had called Delta about the spots a year after I bought it and they sent me a new faucet so I have a spare. Can't beat delta's lifetime warranty.
Steve Rags on the quality of the faucet, LOL. It sure looked nice on the sink, very stylish. Much nicer looking than the $10 supply house one you would normally put in.... you know, the Dual knob type that went out of style 30 years ago.
I loved finally seeing Steve using a basin wrench. There's got to be a better way but those threaded plastic nuts are universal now and in some cases they are almost impossible to reach without exotic long basin wrenches. Not many of us know how difficult it is to be a competent plumber, HVAC expert and now we can see it's not a job for everyone. It's hard work dealing with sometimes, difficult customers.
Yes!! They need to be universal, it’s annoying! Mine came with an installation tool that I see you can buy in stores too but it made it so much easier to reach because you put the water line through it and gets you right to the nut.
Good job, Steve! The designers of that faucet failed totally to keep it simple. Maybe they want a monopoly on the parts. Who the hell is going to want to bother with making aftermarket products?
Yo Steve, why wasn't plumbers putty applied? I always value your advise, but you mentioned it should always be used (you mentioned ceramic) but that doesn't apply to stainless steel? Just asking? Great video as always 👍 👌 👏
folks wondering about the HOT vs COLD (front or back) I think I read somewhere, or seen in other video the reason you want the HOT back, and COLD front is for child protection using the faucet. A child is likely to PULL the handle forward and if the HOT was front for the handle they could could get burned. Anyone else know different? As usual great video Steve.
That’s a good point. Never thought of that haha! Just put one in and cold was in the front like it should be. Came here because I love Steve and wanted to see how I could do it since it was my first time.
You Shouldn’t judge what people buy regardless you probably charged like 275 or more for that job. Delta and all these other big brands have complicated faucets also. It’s not just a Home Depot thing.
Looks like the faucet came from Lowes or Home Depot. They are pretty much all the same. They look great from the top but are all cheap plastic underneath. Likely made in China.
I have been trying to find a nice shower head. All of them have plastic parts. I want all metal and don't mind paying for it. Amazon, all have plastic, Lowe's, all have plastic.
Those Chinese faucets are guaranteed job security, you’ll be back next year or two replacing them again. How come every time I try to shut off a valve under a sink or commode, they either don’t turn or if they do turn, they won’t shut off completely, and then the packing leaks like a friggen sieve? I hate old plumbing!!! But I love little Miss Molly, she’s such a good little girl with dad. ,
Welcome too do it your self homeowner these places like Lowes and home depot make it difficult so you will call them cause you don't have there tool to do the job
Hi Steve. Great job. I really need a basin wrench. Looks easier to do. Also, you recommend any brands? I need a new faucet similar to what you put in, but don’t want “Home Depot shit”. I removed our water filtration system, because the Shark Bite type plastic connectors made me nervous. Too easy to pull apart when I went to service it. Have the whole system to a friend for his RV.
It's all those newly-graduated think-masters from engineering school. They gotta work somewhere, right ? Maybe some time in the near future they could engineer a new government that actually works; or perhaps, get the people in the government to actually do some work. Love the comments you make, sort of under your breath ... funny stuff but often very true .
Gotta love that plastic crap from the West and across the border to our South …. I have all Price Pfister faucets throughout my house that are all brass. I bet the on and off knob on my kitchen sink probably weighs more than that whole faucet does. HD does have some good faucets but many buy the cheaper ones they carry and the same from Lowes.
Steven some of this new plumbing products on the market now not only do you have to be a plumber but you have to be Einstein to know how to install it Miss Molly the RU-vid Star
All that new crap is made so it last a 2 years and breaks so you have to spend $120 more. Its good in the sense that the average homeowner's wont play with it. Money in the bank steve.
@@stevenlavimoniere he needs to be somewhere beside grinch. I will be looking for it. I am a plumber in British Columbia canada. It's been a pleasure.🙋♂️
That's better then T&S overly done crap! Thanks again for the videos! 🥃🥃🍺🍺🍺🎯🏌🏻♀️ Stay safe. Retired (werk'n)keyboard super tech. Wear your safety glasses!
