I started buying a kilogram of whole coffee beans a few months ago and keeping it in the freezer. I grind up about two cups at a time to keep in the fridge. This keeps me happy at two cups a day for about three months, and it's budget friendly while saving trips to the store. So, I would add things like coffees and teas in the freezer, fridge and cupboards🌞💎.

Yes! We buy butter (real butter) during Thanksgiving or Christmas when it goes on sale and freeze it. It's freezes super well and if you need a stick and have non thawed you can shred it on the grater for your recipe.

We Indian...use Ginger, Garlic and Turmeric in most of the curries every single day from centuries because of how beneficial they are for your good health. I hardly use canned foods. I make fresh meals from scratch every single day. I understand, not everyone has that much time. But it won't hurt to try. Start with few small changes. I make homemade yogurt/ Dahi, which can once made, last for whole week, it is so good for your gut health and I also make fresh cheese from milk. I wish people could just try to live a bit healthier life. When u make things from scratch...u can make sure no preservatives or chemicals are being ingested. Food taste so much better!

@Katherine potatoes cut as thick or thin as you like, season as you like and then drizzle with an oil-a light tasting one like sunflower or a plain vegetable one will do fine. Not too much oil but enough to coat each one. Oven on a high heat, middle shelf. Turn then over often to make sure that all the sides get crispy! Enjoy ! TIP: I don't like them either too thick or too thin. Cut too thick and they take an age to cook and can be a little dry in middle. Too thin cut potatoes just brake up into mush when you try and turn then over. So l would recommend about a cm or two maximum! (✿^‿^)

@RAYLUKJR
@RAYLUKJR 4 года назад
Jam is the correct name if there is fruit pulp in it. Jelly is made from the juice. Preserves are similar to jam except with larger chunks of fruit. Marmalade is a subset of preserves that are made from citrus and contain the fruit and the rind. In the end, whatever they are, they're all delicious!

When I lived alone, I could never make it through a loaf of bread or a bag of tortillas before they went bad. I’d keep them in the freezer and just pull out the 2 slices of bread to make a sandwich, or whatever I needed. It defrosts in just a few minutes on the countertop. Stuff goes moldy here fast too! I always save and freeze the bread ends too, then when I’ve collected enough, they go into the food processor for bread crumbs. Cream cheese melted in some Campbell’s tomato soup with some dried or fresh basil takes it to another level! It’s almost as good as La Madeline’s famous tomato basil soup.

I stopped meal planning a month in advance because there are just too many variables and I always end up feeling guilty when I don’t stick to the plan. So instead I use a a type of shelf cooking, except whenever I shop, I just try to keep in mind that I always have a protein, fresh produce, and grains/sides on hand. With those three elements, you can basically make endless meals and not have to stress

I haven’t seen you mention this before but citrus fruits are super freezable. I buy limes and lemons when they’re on sale and put them directly into the freezer. Then when I’m making salsa or a fish dish I just grab the lemon or lime from the freezer, pop it into the microwave (peel and all!) for 45 seconds, and it’s ready to use. It’s not only convenient but you get twice the juice this way!

No video needed. Grab the item from the freezer. Grab a plate, or paper towel, and place the item in the fridge, on the plate. Allow 24 hours for a full defrost. Defrost Overnight is usually fine, if it's going to be cooked the next day anyways. The cooking finishes the defrost. You just want it to reach target temp. 165, in cooking for most meats

With the majority of moms in North America working outside the home and supermarkets being a bit of a distance from home, it’s not practical for most Americans to shop every day. Wouldn’t even be home in time for dinner.

Have a couple of recipes handy (like in the front of your recipe book or on the fridge) for quick meals. For instance, a recipe for quiche can always be made with eggs, any type of cheese, and any leftover meats and veggies you have in the fridge, freezer, or pantry. I also always keep tomato sauce, pasta, and ground beef in the freezer because these are great for a busy night or when company comes over. I do keep a few inexpensive frozen pizzas in the freezer at all times because it's better than grabbing fast food!

@Rocky_Tx in my house the Goya brand of Adobo is a must. The one with the red lid. Then the fancy salt of your choosing (there are so many now), pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, some kind of Italian blend and a Mrs. Dash just about any variety will do. Once I had those I just started checking the discontinued rack in my grocery stores and that's how I've gotten less common spices like vanilla beans and ground sage on the cheap.

Terrific tips! Thank you! One of my go-to appliances is the Instant Pot. It has several functions, but the one that I use the most is the pressure cooker. It cooks things so fast! You don't need to soak beans overnight--you can soak them in 5 mins with the pressure cooker. And then cook them in 10 minutes. You can cook a whole chicken in 20 minutes. Etc. I love it so much! Such a handy thing.

I love adding onion soup mix to proteins, too! In the morning we dump in a slow cooker: baby carrots, potatoes, sliced onions and beef roast with a pack of Lipton onion soup mix and let that cook all day. When we get home we have dinner all done and it’s such an easy dinner to clean up as well. It’s the best pot roast ever!

I get a large can of tomato paste and freeze it into icecubes and keep it in the freezer. Also saves you from having to measure later. I have also made dry beans ahead of time and frozen them into can size portions in quart freezer bags. Can convenience without the higher price. Lately I've also been making large portions of rice at the beginning on the week in my instant pot and keeping a bowl in the fridge. Saves a lot of time in prep later in the week. I'll also cook chicken ahead of time in large batches in my crock pot and freeze so it's ready to go. If I get a great deal on berries, I stock up. I rinse (and cut up strawberries) and freeze them in a single layer for a few hours before bagging them and keep them in the freezer. This keeps them from sticking together. They're great for smoothies, acai bowls, or for just adding a couple to water. Our tap water here tastes like chlorine, so we generally have huge cases of water bottles in our pantry, but the kids keep putting the little caps in their mouths, so I've been switching to the gallon jugs and refill them a few times. It's a little cheaper and I don't have all the half drunk bottles sitting around.

It's crazy how many times people think you can't eat anything good being without a major food group. My mother and I have learned that broth and some vegan cream cheese in a blender is a great sub for cream of (whatever) soup since cream is just another word for dairy
