Legit Priest or a pale imitation? In my latest video I review the debut album from KK's Priest: the new band fronted by former Judas Priest members K.K. Downing and Tim "Ripper" Owens!

Hey Edwin, I’ve lived with this album for longer now and I absolutely love it. What a great album this is, heavy, fast, melodic, great vocals….I could go on. Really do dig this record. Hope there’s more to come from KK’s Priest cos to me, it’s an equally valid Priest to the Judas one too.

I feel the exact same way, Andy. I've been listening to the album nonstop all week and I'm still loving it. It's the real deal. 🤘🏼

I think you said it well; it's Rob's Priest and KK's Priest now. Exactely why I dont rate Firepowerthat high...as it takes Glen&KK to make the music and Rob to sing to make it sound like Judas Priest. Firepower sounds like an Rob solo album to me..not Judas Priest as it used to be in their prime. Do love KK's Priest as they sound like they are 25-years olds tearing the roof down..like the energy that is found on Defenders and instrumentaly they sound hungry. And indeed Ripper comes close to Rob..only he does reach the range of Rob when he was younger. In short I would say KK's Priest has a lot more going for them, including a better bass-players. Not hating on current JP as they are my fav band..but they do sound like old dudes versions of the band. Also KK seems to take more risks creatively than JP..yes Sermons has some flaws but the highs are higher than anything on FP to me...especially the guitars are on fire.

I'm waiting for your review of the new album they released. I think it's a stronger album than this one. Each time I listen to it the tracks are very catchy. You may say some of its corny but hey its metal.

I posted a mini review of the new album to the Rock All Over You Podcast Facebook Group the week it came out. And here it is: "Exclusive KK's Priest The Sinner Rides Again Review from Eddy: It's an absurdly metal album that I like more than I should. Not as strong as their debut but a solid followup that will be in my heavy rotation this month. Pros: Ripper brings a lot of energy and passion vocally and of course the guitar work is exceptional. Cons: cliched lyrics and too many Gregorian chants. If you're someone who has listened to Painkiller more than 100 times in your life and Jugulator more than 10 times, you might dig this album. Favorite song: Strike of the Viper. These guys should totally open for Rob's Priest...!!!! 🔥🔥🤘🏼"

You were right, I loved it! 9-10 songs is about where most albums should be. Totally rocked! Love songs that are about how much they in fact do rock. This album is fuck full of badassery!!

Nice review, but one disagreement.... Halford sounds better than Ripper? Especially now? Have you heard Rob's gargling during the Priest shows? No projection...all fry. Ripper has not lost his step his whole career, and especially live...he carries it the whole night.

I haven't watched clips from the current tour, but I can say Rob was totally on it for the Firepower tour. He sang "Saints In Hell" flawlessly. Didn't miss a note. No disrespect to Ripper though: He also sounds great.

Great review man yes this album is really good and could be album of the year for me. Firepower was my favorite from 2018 and I'm going to have to listen to firepower and sermon of the sinner back to back and see which one I like better.

I listened to Firepower for the first time in quite a while, so that I could compare it to Sermons and guess what, it hasn't aged well. I was blown away by it when it was released. The album cover is still awesome, though. You said yourself, that Sermons gets better with each listen, keep your mind and heart open and you might find that Sermons of The Sinner is better than Firepower. You are totally wrong about Return Of The Sentinel. People will debate about whether the Sentinel is better than The Return for years to come. Mark my words.
@insurancedaddy

You honestly think Return of the Sentinel will ever come close to The Sentinel? Fucking hysterical. KK sounds like a kid who just got his first guitar and went to Guitar Center to show off on the solo for Return to the Sentinel. Slop fest.

@@barrysmith839 another non-entity, huh? That's almost as lame as your belief that The Sentinel, in time, will be viewed as inferior to The Return of the Sentinel. Absolutely laughable. The demon in me? 😂 🤣😂😭

"KK is playing his balls off." With all due respect to all parties involved, KK is no longer KK in his prime, not even close, contrary to your review. After several listens, I'm actually shocked at the amateurish level of his solos. Riffs are generic, paint-by-numbers, trying-too-hard, mediocrity. Just listen to KK's solo on Return of the Sentinel....pathetic, slop fest.

Of course we all hear things in our own special way. I always thought Glenn was the more precise and technical guitarist in JP and KK was the one with a more wild and kinetic style (a looser feel, lots of whammy bar, etc.). And that's what I hear throughout Sermons of the Sinner. I hear a lot of energy and passion. But again, we all hear things in our own special way. 😉
