Judaism and Christianity is a bit like Astronomers and preppers. They're both aware of the same dangers, but one side is more focused on the physical while the other is on the ethical. They're not in conflict, but 2 sides of the same coin. Islam on the other hand is trying to banish the coin altogether and go back to the idyllic life of bartering and childlike adventure.

@onethdasanayake3689
@onethdasanayake3689 2 года назад
@@l.patrick2171 Well research has a chance of being biased and flawed, and you people never EVER consider the possibility that those religions borrowed from Christianity. Why? Simply because the world hates it. For example, there are some striking similarities in Islam and Christianity....but can we accuse Christianity for allegedly 'stealing' from Islam. No, right? Why? Cos Islam originated 600 years AFTER Christianity. And this is not only one. There are more bad objections (and it is a common one) regarding this 'borrowing' issue. Some say Jesus was borrowed from pagan myths. Some say Genesis was borrowed from Babylon pagan legends. Some say Jesus prayed to a pagan god, and the list goes on.... And someone who says those stuff probably don't know much or haven't studied Christianity... And regarding the sun issue, there's a possibility that C.S Lewis knew Irish cults since he was an Irish. It's easier to argue when you don't know much about Christianity and accuse someone who ACTUALLY knows the REAL history of Christianity rather than carefully research the evidence, take in the accusations safely and come to own conclusion. Note - If you are interested Mr. Patrick, I hope we could have an honest and friendly conversation about this. Now I don't know MUCH about Irish cults and their ancient beliefs and traditions, and if you know some, teach me. AND I DEMAND YOU TEACH ME AT ONCE, ok sorry, lol.

That is not even close to being true. Being presented with god and truth is not the same as somebody trying to instil their will upon a person for the sake of it. @morticiagomez1870

@@bighands69 But you must admit , that there are some parents who try to be “Christians” and drag their kids to church every Sunday , but they are not fully spiritually invested in their Faith so they don’t grow spiritually in the Faith and they come across as either too conservative or too controlling or too hypocritical to their children and therefore, the children rebel against this. Ofcourse, even Christian parents can’t always be “perfect Saints” all of the time and they too have their own hang ups , childhood issues, tempers, weaknesses and shortcomings, just like everybody else! But there are some truly genuine and mild tempered Christians out there who foster good relations with their loved ones and then they reap the rewards of a good bond with their children. Well that’s ok, I took the opposite path from Christianity to conversion to Judaism. Judaism is not always an easy religion to love, but the G-d of Israel is my rock and my redeemer, and I follow where He leads me. Sometimes I think He is less concerned with the labels and more concerned with placing you where you’ll receive what you need for spiritual growth.

Here’s why Christianity is the logical next step after Judaism: 1) God created the universe and created man in His image. This is the first step to our relationship with God. (Family with God) 2) God creates woman. This is the first step to our relationship with each other. (The human family) 3) God makes a covenant with Noah. This is the first step to reconciliation with God. 4) God makes a covenant with Abraham. This is the first step to creating a people of God. (Many people, one family) 5) God makes a covenant with Moses, which is fulfilled in Joshua. This is the step toward God making a nation of God, which is where we get God’s CHOSEN people, and essentially when Judaism is built. 6) God establishes a Kingdom with David, and a priesthood (the step toward maintaining both a nation, which is the perpetuation of human relationships, and a priesthood, to perpetuate the relationship between God and man.) 7) God becomes incarnate in Jesus Christ and establishes a new Church and a new covenant to mediate between God and man, thereby closing the gap between man’s kingdom and God’s Kingdom. For this reason, the chosen people of God are those who would follow in the Church established by Christ, just as God created man, family, covenant, nation, kingdom, priesthood, and Church. Just as God told Moses to slaughter a lamb, eat it, and cover the entrance of their homes with its blood, so too must we take and eat the slaughtered Lamb of God, His Son, reflected in the sacrifice of Abraham’s son, with a ram taking Isaac’s place, Jesus takes our place, and becomes the Passover lamb. This is the connection we have of being FORMERLY the Jewish people, now fulfilled as Christian people, no longer only a family, a nation, or a Kingdom, but a UNIVERSAL people, spread throughout the entire world, being prepared to enter into the Kingdom of God.

In Romans 1:20 Paul describes how it's possible for even distant pagans to reason from creation itself that there is a God, and to know something of his nature. I believe that's the path Andrew Klavan describes following. God can work through his created work, through his spoken words, and through the Living Word that was embodied by Jesus' earthly ministry. After all, wasn't creation itself made by the Word of God? How is that not a path to Christ through Christ?

Yes, everyone has a knowledge of God so none will have excuse on judgment day. As James states, even the demons believe and shudder. But God sent His Son to show us the way to know God, as fully as we are known. How can we know someone if we never met them? According to your bio, you came from a "secular" Jewish family, which basically means you learned Jewish tradition without the spirituality. You never experienced true religious, spiritual Judaism. You may not add to it or diminish from it," and Deuteronomy 29:28 states: "What is revealed is for us and our children forever, to carry out all the words of this Torah." This teaches that we are commanded to fulfill all the Torah's directives forever. Ben won’t like this, however the fundamental difference between Jews and Christians is not obedience to Gods law, it’s the purpose behind obeying it. If God is more concerned about the obedience to morality rather than ceremonial laws, Christians and Jews are held to the same standard, in which Christians and Jews are religiously (way of life) the same. The difference is Christians recognize their nature as sinners in which obedience to the law does not bring us closer to God, it just stops pushing us further away as the disobedience to the law is not a behavior problem but a heart problem. What brings us closer to God in Christianity the forgiveness needed in our inability to follow the whole law. Where a Jew believes in browning points with the Father in obeying the Law, a Christian follows the Law in Surrender relying on Grace not as a cop out, but as an admonition of guilt. We don’t plead innocent for some laws obeyed, we plead guilty for all the laws broken. Isaiah 64:6 and Isaiah 55. Translate the prophets names from Hebrew to English. Break apart the first word of the Torah into its meaning from the letters, Bereshit (Beyt-Reysh-Aleph-Sheen-Yod-Tav)

Some read Dostoyevsky and become convinced of a moral reality that can only be attributable to God ("Without God anything is possible"). The thinking goes like this: Morality must be real and how can it be if there is no God? The problem is that the reverse is just as true. As jews, we dont try to convert anyone into our religion. If you want to be something else, you can. As long as you are decent human, you can believe to whatever God you like. It's this same reason, despite judsiam being much older than Christianity or Islam, our number in population is 16 million worldwide in comparison to 2 billion Muslims and 2.5 billion Christians. At no point in history did we go on a religious conquest to convert. With that said, we believe anyone can become a jew If their soul finds the path to judsiam on its own; once you do that, rabbis will help you in the process of conversion but the desire to be jewish must come within. Either way, in israel in jewish school, they teach us to respect everyone, especially muslims and Christians, because they believe in the same God as us (just in a different method). Peace and love to all of you in the comment section! Especially for anyone who is a victim of war due to their incompetent political leaders. Ben and Andrew each have half a loaf. Christianity realizes Jesus is the Christ (King over kings) and Judiasm realizes righteousness, the law, government and a King such as Christ are integral to life. Christians seem to think Jesus death as the Sacrificial Passover Lamb gives them a ticket to heaven and a pass for sin; which is entirely false. A Christian must repent of sin, that is, they must stop practicing sin. The Passover Sacrifice is to cover the penalty for sins previously committed. One must turn around and walk in Christ's footsteps. He is the example for righteous living.

You can't stop practicing sin. It's not in you to do so without Christ. Putting works before faith is putting the cart before the horse. "I am the vine, you are the branches. He that abides in me brings forth much fruit. Without me you can do _nothing."_

We are not saved by our works but by grace through faith. However, a tree is known by its fruit and sanctification is the outward expression of the good fruits of the spirit; the evidence of Christ in us. We should do good works, so that others will see these good works and glorify God.

I'd be religious too, if there existed a credible religion. The benefits of becoming Christian are very obvious to me. But they come at a very high cost to your critical thinking skills. I cringe when I watch otherwise very smart people trying to square various religious doctrines. I can never shake the feeling of "That has to have a negative effect on his perception of reality".

Once you realise how shakey the foundations of that "reason" are, religion will not be a difficult reality to accept. How can an atheist even trust his or her own mind, when that mind is the mere tumbling of atoms in a void, without any underlying logic? In order to even have critical thinking skills, you need some point of reference to base them on. Atheism personally led me to madness, because I could not reconcile not being able to trust even my own thoughts with the possession of opinions and convictions. I hope this helps.

The first “Christians” were Jews. They believed that their rebbe Yeshua was the messiah. There was nothing unusual or unprecedented in this belief. Jews all through history have seen one Jewish group or another proclaim that their rebbe was the messiah. Even today there are some members of the Lubavitch movement who believe that their rebbe is the messiah and that he will rise again to assume that role. There has always been room in Judaism for these people as at the end of the day they are still Torah observant Jews. They are not trying to create a new religion. So by blood, by ethnicity, by culture, and by their strict Jewish observance, these early Jewish “Christians” were Jews in every way. They completely rejected any idea of ever converting non-Jews and certainly had no intention of creating a new religion. They were Jews. Period. But a few decades later, for whatever reason, and clearly against the will of the Jewish “Christians”, the marketing decision was made by Paul and others to target non-Jews for conversion. They soon discovered that non-Jews, steeped in Greco-Roman religions, could not wrap their minds around the Jewish concept of an invisible god. They needed to repackage the product for a larger Greco-Roman audience. Firstly was the incorporation of the long-standing Greco-Roman myth of Zeus (God) descending from Olympus and impregnating a young virgin who would give birth to the man-god Hercules (Yeshua). This was a concept that non-Jews at the time could relate to. Secondly few adult male non-Jews in those days were willing to go thru the pain of being circumcised, not to mention giving up their staple diets of pork, calamari, squid, shellfish, and their household gods, those little statues and icons that they prayed to. The whole story is crystal clear for anyone who truly knows the history of that era. Those early Jewish “Christians”, if they were to rise from the dead today, and walk into a church and see what Christianity is today, they would feel as if they had landed on Mars. They would recognize absolutely nothing. But they could walk into an orthodox synagogue today and feel right at home. Jesus too. I would safely assume they would also be shocked and dismayed to discover that in the 2,000 years that have passed, their Jewish kin, their people, their descendants have suffered unspeakable crimes (unending prosecutions, expulsions, burnings, forced conversions, kidnapping of their children, slavery, humiliations, mass rape, mass murder, pogroms, attempts at genocide culminating in near extinction in a Holocaust just 80 years ago, and even today so many millions calling fir the destruction of the world’s only Jewish state). And most of this perpetrated at the hands of European peoples who have called themselves Christians. What would Jesus think?

@@IRequireMedication I would be happy to have you prove me wrong on any of the main historical points. To summarize: 1) Yeshua’s original followers were a sect of Torah observant Jews from Judea. Their culture, their language, their ethnicity was Jewish. Their original faith was pure Judaism. The “golden rule” was not new. It was the very basis of the Torah already for 2,000 years . Believing their rebbe to be the messiah was nothing new. It’s happened many times through today. 2) Yeshua’s followers rejected any idea of converting non-Jews. 2) the origin of the (God)Zeus/(Yeshua)Hercules myth is long established and a common belief not only of the Greco-Romans but all the non-Jewish world. It survives through today in its Christianized form. 3) Yeshua’s followers could enter an orthodox synagogue today and not skip a beat. Would feel right at home with the Hebrew and Aramaic of the services, the Torah scrolls, and holy books. 4) in US law, there is no statute of limitations on murder. Is it less so for G-d’s law? Starting from the Roman-Jewish wars, where 1 million Jews were massacred and an equal number enslaved….and through today…..pre-Christian, Christian, and today’s post-Christian Europe is guilty of the worst crimes of humanity, of a burning envy and hate that has led to countless occasions of genocide and unspeakable evil, bloodletting, and persecution against Yeshua’s own Jewish people and family. Europe is soaked in the blood of millions of Jewish men, women and children. Now that they have made Europe “judenrein”, through mass murder cutting their Jewish population from 9 million in 1939 to today’s less than 1 million, they focus this eternal hatred politically on the survivors and children of these genocides in the state of Israel. Prove me wrong.

Sad that Klavin didn’t mention Yeshua as messiah at all. Missed the mark with this opportunity. I do love and appreciate how these men can come together and sit down and have a polite conversation when the rest of the world tells us basically “if we don’t agree with each other then we hate each other” at the same time, Ben Shapiro has been deceitful and distastefully treating the Christian staff at the daily wire rather poorly. The reason that Christianity works, is that regardless of what happens in your life, once you have done what God commands to be saved, you cannot be left behind. All other religions, and basically secular thinking requires works in order to reach your salvation, whatever that may be. Christianity is offered for free and requires only the most rudimentary understanding of God’s word. The problem arises when people realize that they must rely on God, and not themselves, God rather than their intellect, God rather than their understanding, and those other beliefs/non-beliefs will not: 1. Relinquish control over your life to Jesus. 2. Trust in Jesus no matter what. 3. Follow Jesus and what his word says. Remember, the gift of salvation is free, and eternal once you have it. God will not lie, and has promised that once you accept Jesus Christ as your savior, believe in what he did on the cross to save you, and turn from your sins (no works at all) then God has saved you eternally. There is no money or profit to be made in that relationship except for you gaining your eternal soul in Heaven, and that’s why it and Jesus are despised the world over because He said that you will win the race of life without going through and paying them first.

@@orangestapler8729 that's a thing believers of Jesus really need to ponder. That trusting sinful people is a very scary thing. But if He really is God, and if scripture is true when it says He did not sinned, then all He says is consistently true, and all He does is consistently good. And all it takes is to examine His life that was recorded in four different accounts (matthew, mark, luke, john). If that is true, then trusting and submitting to Him is the safest and surest place to be.

Perhaps Klavan expounds upon this in later parts of the interview, but he doesn't seem to defend why he holds the specific viewpoints of Christianity and insists on their supposed obviousness. For a guy who is supposedly bent on a rational approach to decisions, he seems to dismiss the incongruencies of the word of God.
