Hey Youthman, why do my 4 12" car subwoofers running at 2400watts peak power, not hit as hard at 1 15" Klipsch R-115SW? They are loud in my car, but loose most of the Dbs in my bonus room... having to be right next to them to really feel them and hear them.

Youthman, Thanks for another great video, I used your link and purchased the Klipsch Sub as I liked the 699 price point. I hope you get some credit for the purchase. I have a simple sub question. I now have two Klipsch R-115SW and two pioneer 10" Andrew Jones powered subs. How would you recommend hooking up the two Pioneer subs in the rear? If I run a Sub cable to the back and spit it the cable would have to be about 45 foot or would you recommend the Klipsch wireless W-A2 wirelss kit? Please don't base your answer on who supports you. I think the cable would work best but as for simplicity the wireless controller in the back and split that would be super easy. Thoughts?
@Youthman

Thank you for the support and for the kind words. I will always give my honest opinion, regardless of whether a company has sponsored videos or not. 😀 I do not have any experience with Wireless adapters so I cannot give a recommendation on how well it works. I do not see one being a major benefit over the other except for running a long wire. If you can hide it (like under your baseboard) then that’s not a big deal. Cables are certainly cheap. Check out Monoprice or Amazon. Does that help?

I don't own any of those subs, but I'm sitting back and wondering if sealed subs are any better? Unfortunately, I live in a 625sq foot apartment, and I've got two Definitive Technology PC-600 speakers package. Due to the second woofer giving me the higher output, I didn't used thier horizontal center speaker, I used one of satellite speaker instead. At the end result, I ran 8" dual subs, and each subs have thier own passive radiator. My format is 5.2.2, the .2 was the front height elevation channels. Ohh, don't get me started with these bouncy house dolby enabled speaker used in Dolby Atmos, it doesn't work in all applications. If we want sound, then install an actual speaker there.

Mhm my pb-1000 reached 18hz flat in my room. Using the audessey mic thou with a calibrated sound card. Have to try different sub placements too. I have a question. The R-115SW says it can do a max of 122db 1/m so this is peak power, but it should do 119db continuous . Can you test that ?
@Youthman
@Youthman 5 лет назад
These measurements are without Audyssey as you want to try and get the flattest frequency response through room placement before you run Audyssey. I have not tried testing at 1m. I like to test at listening position as it doesn’t benefit me to know how loud it is at 3’ if I’m never going to sit that close

WOW You delivered big time. What a great service! Thank you for answering my question. Very timely. I am left trying to guess the reason. Could the SVS driver, being heavier require more power to push its driver than the Klipsch? It is WAY more flat than the Klipsch vs the 50 Hz mark for the designed frequency, potentially due to the internal processing. After the lowest rated frequency, the crossover states, I am not designed to push this at this level, does not send the power needed to amp the heavier driver. Is it like seeing what car rolls further on idle, the heavy vehicle or the light one? Am I TOTALLY off on this guess?

If the subwoofers were calibrated to the same volume, how come the SVS is louder at all HZ? The SVS is about 3db louder than the klipsch from ~33Hz and higher? Shouldn't their spl match down to about 33hz where the SVS takes of in volume?

Another great video. I'm really enjoying these comparisons and that software is fascinating. It's interesting to get to see how things really measure up side by side. Even though the SVS is more powerful for the same money you could have 2 of these Klipsch subwoofers and everyone says that's always better. For the budget conscious and if you've got the space that makes sense to me. I'm wondering if we're going to get to see a review of the Klipsch RP-6000f that you were using as rears while you have them in? I'd love to know your thoughts on them alone and how they performed. I'm really liking the new RP line and the 4000f (dual 4" woofers) are an affordable entry level option and great for small to midsize rooms and people like me in an apartment. Thanks again and be blessed.

And as far as the next HDMI 2.1 I am only guessing but it will probably be on flat panels and AVRs before most projectors. And 8K don’t hold your breath. You will see 8k e-shift long before native 8k. Heck they are still working on 4K content. As for price, you will be waiting a long time for 8k to be affordable. Unless you are someone that the price is no object. But for the rest of us ,?i say enjoy it now and upgrade way down the line.

Youthman db is no output. Decibels which is named after Alexander Graham Bell, what you are looking for is earth shake that comes out the back of the port. So yes no out db/volume bc amp is making the ground shake instead of amplifying distortion which is what is happening with monolith and klipsch readings.
@davidh8258
@davidh8258 5 лет назад
your room has a huge drop in the 30 to 40 hz range. 16 db is a huge drop for the svs since every 3db is twice as loud that is a huge loss in bass where most people seem to percieve bass. i mention it has a room related since both subs drop so much in this region. that is measuring one sub at a time and you play multiple subs so the drop is probably gone in your room during movies. keep up the great videos

I tried with SVS. Truly I did. But in the end they just don’t have barely any punch at all. They seem be specialize in the more subterranean range. The room shakes but you don’t hear too much. I trade my SVS subs for JTR 18’s for my mains setup. And a Klipsch SLP150 for my second system. Not sure why SVS are tuned like that but they look much better on paper than they actually sound.
@Youthman
@Youthman 2 года назад
Comparing SVS to JTR isn’t a fair fight. Completely different classes.
@Sloimer
@Sloimer 2 года назад
@@Youthman Completely agree. It's weird though, because I've heard subs that are both considered "below" and above SVS in terms of tier, and they both punch better. SVS just kind of vibrate the room. I plugged in my old RSW-12 and it was night and day better than my PB13-Ultra in terms of the chest punch factor, which drove me to try a few other SVS subs. The other SVS subs had the same weakness, even compared to my old Klipsch sub. They had more output way down low, but it was all subterranean room shaking bass - not very punchy or musical. So now I have the SLP-150 which is considered "below" some SVS subs, and the JTR's (same ones as you), and they both have the same punchy bass I look for (except the JTR's have 10x as much of it of course). It must just be the way the SVS are tuned.

@hundrakg

I think you have to raise levels on each sub slowly to reach compression, and then compare the curves, the Klipsch shouldnt be 6db lower for the most part, and in your test before it was only 3db, But of course, you can still see advantage in lower frequencys for the Klipsch, and THAT supprises me a lot, I thoght the SVS would bet the Klipsch by far at lower frequencys, strange!!!!!!

@hundrakg

@@Youthman that is the way to learn, nobody knows eveything, we all learn... In this case it really does not matter as we can clearly see the graph on both subs, the one that suprises me is that SVS dips in the low end, maybee some sort of filter activated... The klipsch 115 isnt knows for its low end power, its a +25hz sub, many tests show that... I just thought the SVS would be much stronger below 20hz.. wich it should be..
