Klonaqua Lakes are located within an ancient glacier cirque on the northeast side of Granite Mountain. The unmaintained trail from Icicle Creek includes fording creeks, where bridges were washed out or do not exist. From the peninsula between upper and lower Klonaqua Lakes there is no established route to the top of Granite Mountain and getting there involves a difficult bushwhack / scramble. You are rewarded for all your effort by spectacular panoramic views, and a chance experience one of the prettiest seldom visited high country areas in the entire Pacific Northwest.
