Another good video , take a picture of the knife to remember where you clamped, I have the Wicked Edge system, is fun to mirror an edge.

I've been working with the KME equipment for a number of years. You have a solid understanding of making it work. Good job, brother - and I appreciate your efforts here...

Thank you, I really appreciate and respect your input. I didn't have it to long probably 8 months and then sold it. I have now moved onto a Tormek T8 with a japenese water stone and I don't know that I'll need anything else 😅 I did one video on it so far it was recent so it will be close to the top of the channel page. Thanks again 🙏

@@TGSTheGoodStuff Interested. I'll check that out, as I'm always looking to improve things. KME of course, does have its limitations...

Just got my KME deluxe and loving it so far. Purchased it to go with my first Benchmade purchase ( 560bk-1 superfreek). Took some great tips from this video, thanks for the post. Would love to see them reloading videos. New sub here. 👍

Good deal thanks for the feedback. When you first cut something in front of a buddy and they have that 😳 look on their face 😅😁 you can go as sharp as you want to. Eventually I'd like to put out a series on reloading. Appreciate it the sub.

Thank you bunches Lynne! I know it's long and alot of people may turn away but I think its thorough and I remember when I got it (KME) I watched hours of stuff to learn how to get it right so hopefully someone wanting to use a KME will find everything they're looking for in this one video. The only thing I didn't cover was micro lapping which will give you the true mirrors edge, but its repeating the same steps I covered anyways. I don't have that in my kit so I couldn't cover that.

An interesting video, thanks for posting a current point of view. Many of the KME videos, although still very relevant, are a bit long in the tooth now. Over here in the UK those moveable stops are around the $10 to $15 equivalent delivered. I have always used an ordinary 1/2 inch rubber tap washer with a 1/8 inch hole. This provides a good grip so the holder can’t accidentally slide out of the jig but is able to slide up and down the rod and off the end when you want to flip the knife over. I bought a pack of 5, two years ago , for $1-50 or so and am still using the first one! Hope this helps without sounding like a know all limey. Keep safe, virus free and keep sharpening it will save you going round the bend during “lock down“ and get you immeasurable brownie points with her indoors. All the best, Al.

Thats great and thanks for the feedback. I always love learning the little things that make a process run smoother. One rod in my kit actually came with an oring on it and I always use it at the top of the rod for quick adjustment as I just want the bottom to stop on the upstroke. Couldn't tell you the size though so thanks again. I'm actually looking in to the tormek T8 to feature on the channel. Granted its expensive it does seem like you pay for the speed and consistency with those.

Quick question......is it not better to strop the knife on a fixed stropping block on the table ? Doing the same motion.....
@TGSTheGoodStuff
@TGSTheGoodStuff 3 года назад
really you can't go wrong with either method, just have to make sure if you're using strop fastened to a table you're holding the correct angle. I like stropping with the KME because the angle is fixed so it would be hard to mess that up. Just don't run the strop into the edge of the blade only away.

Can this make knives as sharp as the knives on my channel? Im looking for an easy way to do that.
@TGSTheGoodStuff
@TGSTheGoodStuff 4 года назад
Wow those have some beautiful edges. You could definitely get similar results with this if you opted for the micro lapping kit. It steps up to 160,000 grit and will leave that hair popping mirrors edge like you have on those. I have heard that the Arkansas wet stone set they sell (goes to 2000 grit) will give you a hair whittling edge to but I've never played with them firsthand.

What size stop collar is that?
@TGSTheGoodStuff
@TGSTheGoodStuff 4 года назад
Not completely sure on the actual size looks like an 1/8" but heres the link where I got mine straight from their website. www.kmesharp.com/adstco.html

Maybe it’s just the video but it looks like your pressing way to hard when you were stropping. 15:45 stropping is a very gentle process. It don’t work any better by applying pressure, it actually does the opposite.

I'd have to say I can't disagree with you 😅 I would put in a little extra elbow at times to help remove scratches and bring that mirror out but I've since sold my KME and got a Tormek T8 and wow. Mirror in minutes you can pop hair with. Pricey but I've been real satisfied with it. Thanks for the feedback 😀

@@TGSTheGoodStuff Yeah I know of the the tormek t8 it’s a fixed grind wheel of some sorts if I’m not mistaken? So you can get Quick edges from that? Hey thanks for the great video though, it was really good tutorial for people looking to get into sharpening. I enjoyed it.

@@bquick80 yeah its a slow revolution wet stone. They have jigs and wheels to literally sharpen whatever kind of tool. Alot of guys go into sharpening businesses with them. Really appreciate the kind words, glad it could help. 😁

Hmmmmm?........I have a KME and I love it. A few things. First, never ever say a knife is razor sharp unless you can actually shave your face with it. And there are videos of people actually shaving with a sharp knife. Secondly, what's with the anal obsession with a polished blade. It doesn't mean it's sharp.
