Patrick needs his own "Sky Scraper Statue" in New York. He's certified New York Royalty. Nothing like Marv Albert punctuating "PATRICK EWING!!!" after a Dunk and The Garden going wild! The Golden Age of NBA.
I touch and agree with you in the purest form!!! If the just built a really good team around him , also had a good countenance prolific scorer night in and night out a really good one like Chuck Person 😲!!!
@@scottlouisjr.275 aw man the Ewing crayola orange and blue sneakers with his name on the side. A terrible shoe (which I think destroyed his knees. Literally no shock absorption whatsoever), yet signature and iconic!
@@eddiewallace7709 wow Chuck Person. Haven't heard that name in decades. He was the Gary Payton of 3 point shooting, from the OLD 3 Point Line! Pretty much gave life to Reggie Miller's trash talking soul. Those were the days when the game held "awe" and "magic" 😥. I'm cutting onions right now. -Gotta go!
All he needed was a spin move or real counter to that damn drop step. Everyone knew what he was going to do whenever he caught the ball in the post smfh. Used to make me so mad lol. Loved Pat!!!
The opening for this show is genius. "Who was the first person to bust yo ass?"... humbles the guest and brings them in at the same time. I literally get hyped waiting for the guest to answer it. It shows no matter how good you are, you still had to get your ass busted. (unless you are Pat Bev..who apparently has never gotten his ass busted *pause*)
Gilbert Arenas was also a prem- when he got asked that question saying nah the first ass I bust was y'all... I was like Gilbert thinks too highly of himself and is career... he annoyed me to no end when he was on here, I didn't even make it through his episode... but I love Patrick Ewing being on here.
First time i saw a basketball game , was patrick ewing in 1987 in TV. My all time favorite. One time he came to Brussels ( belgium ) , i was 13 , and i went to see him , and had the chance to shake his hand , while he was turning in the arena , and saluting everybody.
@@christophboon1406 He came to Palais du Midi , next to ( Anneessens Tram station ) , where Macabbi Brussels , and later Basket Brussels used to play as their home court in the first division... 1992 ou 1993 , j'avais 12 , 13 ans.... 2000 personnes sont arrivées , il était super grand , et très sympa..... Le problème qu'il ya même pas une photo ou un reportage sur ça .... Le seul moyen , c de lui demander la question sur Instagram ou un autre réseau social.... Depuis ce jour , je suis supporteur des Knicks
Glad to see Pat doing better. As a lifelong Knicks fan, it pisses me off how much disrespect Knicks fans and NY media showed this man. To me, he's the greatest Knick of all time. I know Clyde has the rings but he also played with at least 5 HOFers. Every time Pat played with someone in his prime, the Knicks got rid of him. We had 2 talented home grown PGs and traded them for has beens.
Some interviews are shot few weeks prior to the air date because of editing and stuff, so I am hoping this is actually Ewing after he got covid and he is actually this healthy.
@@kmetzgr9594 He said it right. It depends on when you were born. I was born in 72', so Georgetown gear was hot in the 80's. We wore it because the Georgetown colors were hard and it was just the culture back then. They were an all black team, black coach and STARTER JACKETS were the style back then
@@markj6681 ,, A,I 2 years were just OK..Never got out of the Regional. 94-95 GTOwn program was going down hill.. You saw Gtown Gear heavy in the 80's. Gtown was a joke in the 90's.
Patrick Ewing is one of the greatest New York Knicks of all-time and I'm thrilled that he beat the coronavirus. Great interview as always by Knuckleheads.
One of the first games I can really remember watching as a kid was in 1993 or 1994 Magic vs Knicks Shaq vs Ewing. Those boys were going at it!! Shaq had like 40pts 15rebs 5ast 5blks and Ewing had like 35pts 10rebs 5ast 5blks. An epic game with two legends going blow for blow. Regardless of not winning it all Patrick Ewing deserves more praise because he was a monster. Edit: Ewing I know you said MJ was the only one who had a huge game in Madison Square Garden, but baby Shaq in 1994 had 41pts and 18rebs against y’all 🤣😂 I’m pretty sure I’d call that video game numbers.
True ballers knows that Patrick was a force to be reckoned with!!! I remember they interview Kareem when he 1st play Patrick in L.A. He said in a interview , they're making them bigger stronger and faster now. Im glad that i only see him twice a year 😆!!!
My dude has a body of work from college to the pro is really impeccable, so underrated.Truly top 5 of all time.Sad my Knicks waited too later to put a team around him. That injury in 99 cost him & the Knicks a title. Healthy Camby & Pat would've took them in six.
I'm been a Knick fan since 93 so trust and believe I watched every regular season playoff game you name it so I feel your pain Knick fan till the death
@@stonedog23 he wasn't expensive though. I believe pat would've faded out & let Marcus Camby take over which they fucking did anyway. So they could've just let him fade out. There's a video on it that u can watch.
I graduated the same year 1981 as Patrick. I remember one scout described Ewing as another Bill Russell defensively and he was. But also said he would be better offensively. This man worked on his shot relentlessly and arguable became the best jump shooting big man of his era Although he didn't win a ring Patrick NEVER cheated the game and drained every ounce of sweat out of his body to help the Knicks win. Proud to share the same first name as my fellow Jamaican 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Ah man!! I LOVED THIS!!! Patrick Ewing was my favorite basketball player growing up. I’m 40 now and from northeast TN. Needless to say, I was always one of the few Ewing fans in my area lol. I truly believe that, If Ewing’s knee’s would’ve stayed strong throughout his career, we would be talking about Ewing the same way we talk about Olajuwon!
People don't know Ewing's hype coming out of college was as high as anyone in NBA history. Everyone knew he'd be a franchise changing player. Also, crazy they had this in the tuck right before he got sick.
Also coming outta HS.Was expected to be a game changer which he was.Best description I heard of the defensive minded player coming outta HS was : Bill Russell with offense. His defense WAS WAY AHEAD of his offense coming outta HS.Really worked hard on his shot, his defense slacked in the pros, but in HS college? BEASTLY....thats why his close friends call him " BEAST"
@@12wehgy Yep. Started icing in H.S. In college, the schedule was lighter, so Ewing got the recovery time he needed, and nobody caught on to how serious his knee issues were. (Severe tendonitis in both knees, I think he wrapped it up after 5 knee surgeries.) One thing that strikes me looking back on his games is that there really were always two Ewings: Ewing on good knees and Ewing on bad knees. When Ewing was right, his court coverage was on Olajuwon's level. Check out the Christmas day game 1986. Patrick got a block where he started at the 3 pt line *when the opposing center gathered for a dunk* and he stuffed the dude. I was in full holy shit face. Ewing on bad knees was often solid, but he could be rough to watch, because you could see that it just wasn't there.
That was dope!!! Much respect for that interview being that I grew up a Knick fan and Pat was a big part of my love for them. My dad put me onto the Knicks early because when he came to this country the Knicks and the Jets won championships and he was disgusted when Phil Jackson coached the Bulls due to him being an integral part of those championship Knick teams of the early 70s.
I’m so glad 33 is ok. My all time favorite player and such a class act, great sportsman and all time center and greatest Knick ever. Which isn’t saying a whole lot, but he was a beast!
Boss he is considered 1 of the 50 greatest N.B.A. player of all time past present & to come. Now that's saying a whole lot, 3 ncaa finals took the Knicks to 2 nba Finals!! Come on dog give the man his props!!
My fav player of all time. He balled out EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. He was before the stretch bigs, but he was unique in having a really soft touch from mid range when others didn't.
This is greatness! P-Funk one of the best of all-time and trust me he left it all on the court...it’s not enough words or a single word created that I can use to show my appreciation for this man in the game of basketball. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Lets goooooo. Thank you Knucklesheads again. Beeen waiting. One of the most under appreciated legends of all time. Without him knicks wouldnt have been relevant. Thank you Pat🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾 #33 still got my Jersey and kicks
@@Reddix74 what is there to lie about I kept all my sports jerseys throughout the years I got them hanging up throughout my man cave & it ain't no thing to order a pair of those Ewing shoes online
Damn if Patrick played now with load management... he would be beastly the only games that he ever faltered were the ones when you can tell he was playing hurt! He was a warrior! Great in the block, great jump shooter great shot blocker!
Its incredible to me that Patrick's accent is still so strong. I'm Caribbean myself and came here at 13...and feel more integrated. (Obviously everyone is different...and in no way am i making a judgement about one being better than the other)
I came here at 9.Born in England and lived in Jamaica from 5 1/2 to 8 1/2.Im 57 now and STILL have a slight accent to some ppl. Some think I'm from South Carolina LOL.Jamaican accent can't be killed.
patrick y In your case...but u can’t speak for everyone. Lol It varies. I know plenty of Jamaicans who have lived in USA for say 10 years with a mild or no discernible accent. And I also know others who have been here for 25 or 30 years & still have a fairly obvious accent. 🤷🏽♂️
@@coronavirus1499 You are ABSOLUTELY right.I have cousins who spent just as long or longer in Jamaica and you don't hear NO ACCENT, but they can pull it out at the drop of a hat like they just came to America last week...lol
He actually played with Vin Baker with Seattle. Ewing was involved in like some 4 team deal and we got Luc Longley, Glen Rice and some other players in return
Id like to say thank you Q and miles for excellent video. Ewing you're a leader always have been a great player and person very humble. I hope if you ever decide to coach in the NBA. You get the shot you deserve for know much sucess at Hoya nation
D Miles: “ Who was the first person to bust your ass”? Patrick Ewing: “ I got my ass busted by a lot of dudes”! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Pause! Get well soon Pat and great interview!
This is my first time watching this. I've heard great things about it. Man...I'm not a fan of today's NBA like I used to be, but these podcasts are the best in North American Pro Sports. What a great name for a podcast too, lol. Between this, "All The Smoke" & "Let's get Technical", you'll be entertained for hours.
loved that he basically picked the '97 Knicks team when asked about his fav players. That was his best team since they beat Chicago 3-1 in that reg season
Darius to Jordan: First question we ask everybody when you first got to the league who was the first person to bust your ass Jordan: .....That was all the fuel I needed
Got the OG on the show!! Ewing had some underrated kicks. One of the best big men in the 90s. Knicks and Georgetown legend. He don't get the respect he deserves. Salute!
Wassup dudes. Good show. Ewing is my boy. Imma Knicks fan till I die! I'm from New York (Brooklyn). I'm living in O'Fallon, IL now. D Miles knows about that.
Oh shit this about to be the best one so far. You boys went and got the greatest player to ever wear a Knicks uniform. And this is my favorite player of all time. Awe man I know its about to be lit
My although i was a Bulls fan.. Pat was my favorite center of all time..i think he gets overlooked as far as the center position.. I love that he was aggressive, he played "D"& that sweet 15-20 ft jumpshot was money.. He's definitely in my top 5..MJ,PIP,LEBRON, RASHEED& PAT EWING🏀🏀🏀🏀
Q and Darius...You guys are better than I expected. You both have good interviewing skills, that is only going to get better. You guys make it like a conversation and one of the most important things is you do your research and you know when to bring a subject in. You can tell your guest enjoy being on your podcast. Whatever you guys do, stay together! You both complement each other so naturally. Its so refreshing to see a lot of guys doing these podcast and having success. Keep being Lions! Taking a healthy bite from the mainstream. Believe me...we get so tired of hearing their perspective. With these podcast, you guys have a special opportunity and we're proud of you guys! Keep doing good work and getting better.
Mr D. & Mr Q. , I just want to say thank you. For checking in on your big brother. Pat Ewing , happy to see him doing well. What a great episode , huge Knicks fan , Q you know what it is , once a knick all ways a knick. It was cool to see you guys chopping it up. Had me cracking up I could picture Q trash talking Ewing about his knees 🤣🤣🤣 , love the show stay safe I'm out.
He is still a NYC sports legendary player taking NY Knicks to NBA playoffs 1988- 2001 and it was incredible run with 2 NBA Finals.lf only he had NBA championships but Jordan stood in his way
