The Knicks were looking to close out the Sixers in Game 5 to end the series but it was Tyrese Maxey who made an incredible 4 point play and then a long range 3 from the logo to bring the game to overtime tied at 97. The Sixers would then pull away to complete the upset 112-106 and the Knicks once again look to close out the series in Game 6 in Philadelphia on Thursday.

So reminiscent of the 90s Knicks, foul line chokers in crunch time. Hardcore Knicks fan here. I have become a firm believer that a team that cannot put it away at the foul line will not be a championship team.

Now the Knicks have to go back to Philly. Even though the Knicks are still up 3 games to 2, they have no business losing this game, and they also have no business to even go to overtime, either. They keep letting Maxey make all those shots, and that's how the Knicks get heartbroken. There's no excuse for this. And yeah: missed free throws. There is no excuse for that, either.

Yeah, should have fouled Maxey before he shot the 3. Should have made more freethrows so that logo 3 wouldn't even have mattered.

Wally is on point.. JB has to be a POINT GUARD and get others involved especially when getting trapped & having all eyes on him.. This ones on him He was trying to be the hero in the end.. and it costed us

The team would not have been in position to even win if Brunson does not play like this. The problem was not hitting free throws and not fouling to prevent the 3 point shot.

Totally blew that game, it all started with Mitch Robinson fouling Maxey giving him a 4-point play, when they were 6 up, under 1 minutes to go. Completely screwed themselves when they played so well in the 4th quarter. Stupid.

Missed free throws got us this game. I was wondering why Thibs did not make them foul since they were up by three. This was a game Brunson tried to do it all, 3 ball shooting was poor and they lost concentration in the last 30 seconds. Hopefully we get a better team game in Philly and close out.

I have been a Knick fan since the late 80s, I have experienced a plethora of heartbreaking defeats by this franchise; we all remember the infamous Reggie Miller play, and the infamous Pj Brown/Charlie Ward brawl that suspended a number of Knicks which blew their series lead. I've seen it all, and I can tell you this franchise has a stigma of awful moments that carries negative momentum for generations. Last night was another visit by this bad voodoo, and although I was not one of those fans doing jumping jacks with a 3-1 lead, because I knew we could easily be down 3-1, this was an absolute debacle. If the Knicks do not close it out in game 6, the series will be won by Philly. And the typical Knick response will be to trade half their assets for a used up/older Lebron, or trade for KD.

I rate the accountability from the players and staff and all that, but honestly in reality, this shouldn't have happened, never ever. We had 2 timeouts while they had 0 in the last min of the game, we were up by 2 before they sent Hart to free throw line, he should've made both shots but didnt, still up by 3, they were in BONUS, just FOUL SOMEONE IMMEDIATELY dont let them shoot, we'd still be up by 1 with timeout to call and burn the clock, but instead it goes OT and we lose it. I am shattered by the loss, if it costs us the series, i'll need a long break from basketball.

That loss was on Thibbs. Foul and prevent three point shot. Knicks are an awful free throw shooting team. Plus Mitch should not have been out there to close out.

100%. Mitch never should have been guarding Maxey, the second he got the ball OG or Hart should have picked him up. And then Thibs doesn't call a TO?? JB just heaves up a ridiculous shot. Stupid game management all around when you have the game/series in the bag. Knicks choked with sloppy play

The lineup of OG with Precious worked...Embiid is playing as a perimeter shooter due to injury. Hartenstein is a liability on defense vs this team. Thibs should have adjusted, this loss is on him.

Worse loss since 1993 Charles Smith choke job game 5, needed a miracle to win game 2 choked game 5, this team is lucky to be up 3-2 against a Sixers team with its best player on 1 leg, The Knicks are a fugazy 50 win team, even if they win this series they not beating Indiana with the fire power the Pacers have. Without Randle they were never that good grit only gets you so far stars take you home. If the Knicks lose this series changes need to be made and it is a monumental choke job and all the good will this team built up will go out the window! nobody forgets choke jobs that sticks with you forever

The Knicks were losing this game regardless of both teams play. The basketball Gods are saying that there is no way an upstart Knicks team wins in less than 7 games against an established team, and it makes sense...the Knicks could have been up 50 with 6 seconds on the clock and still lost...I had the Knicks in 5, but, now I got them in 7 winning in OT on their home floor...If it goes 7, this will be one of the greatest playoff series ever played...the only team since the Lakers and Celtics of the 80's to reach this type of intensity was Lebron beating Golden State....this playoff series is rivaling that type of intensity!

Tibbs don't believe in the we up 3 foul and put them on the line rule with seconds to go. YES we miss free throws Yes we had turnovers Yes we got out rebound especially on offense end but TIBBS HAS TO TAKE THE BLAME 4 THIS GAME.
