Hi, how are you? first thank you for this video I’ve been a truck driver for 16 years so far had my CDL since 2008 start off at two carriers first CRST but that company didn’t work out so then I went and worked for covenant working on weekends and during the week. I work for a small company and I’ve earned my way up to where I am now and I make much much more money than I ever made when I first started trucking. Man I’ll tell you there were obstacles and so forth felt like trials getting into where I am today, but it doesn’t matter anymore because I made it and worked hard.

Fontana is a small yard but the mechanics are cool and friendly. Farmer boys is right down the street with truck parking. But nothing beats the AZ mothership terminal.

I walk to that Farmer Boys almost every time I'm there. Breakfast burrito is amazing...

Damn, that's terrible for otr. I thought the offer of systems transport of 60 cents starting averaging 1600 a week was bad lol but dang. 1.1 a week for otr is insanely low. Rather do local trucker be home everyday and same pay
@truckingthesevenseas
@truckingthesevenseas Год назад
Ya not exactly an exotic paycheck. Just posting my numbers for all to see. Good bad and ugly.
@nashie25

@truckingthesevenseas ima be honest, u should try to find a local smaller trucking company that pays by load, for me i like fking companies that pay per load %. Not having to rush for miles nd etc. Just do 1 delivery a day and you'll still get paid good. You already have experience in trucking, should definitely branch out to other companies

I intend to leave knight come early next year. I'm waiting for the market to improve and test drive the leased vehicle. If the vehicles good I'll likely buy it and move on

Man with not disrespect here but i will be super honest with you my friend if you doing OTR all over the country and all what thats means the sacrifice and everything and you proud of that pay wow in my opinion you need to double think what you doing with your skills and time cause that money is wayyyyy low compared with than many companies doing otr When you have experience and you stay in a mega company that pay than low is sad sorry about my honesty but your time and family worth more than that and actually many many companies pay way more than that for otr brother and is really fishy to try to put a company like knight in a high standard for drivers cause thats not true but if you happy with that ? Good for you

Agree, don't come here looking for money! Thinking of going to ports, out of vegas. Terminals are great to have, always a place to park and borrow their van to get some shopping done. Talked to a new driver, said school was being deducted from their pay after going solo, about 12 to 18 months to get it paid off.
@truckingthesevenseas
@truckingthesevenseas Год назад
Huh... When I was there I'm pretty sure it was only 9 months. Interesting.

@@ItsJermey so you’re w/ knight? I’m in vegas thinking of doing the dedicated vegas to Long Beach. What feedback can you offer, advice,etc. what route are you doing out of vegas (OTR, ??)? You company or lease? TIA for any feedback.

I would usually avoid California dedicated routes. Too much traffic. Too much DOT. But if its all they got for dedicated and you want dedicated you can give it a shot. I'm currently company driver going lease later this month. OTR for me. Anywhere in the continental. If you don't have family, I would highly suggest living in the truck. No rent. No mortgage. No car. Very profitable.

Hello, Do you think the leasing to owner operator at Knight is good? Do you know other options for a new driver?
@truckingthesevenseas
@truckingthesevenseas Месяц назад
It worked out well for me. Every situation is different. Just do not expect to make a ton of money right off the bat. Other options as far as going O/O or L/O? You can always buy a used truck on the open market and go wherever. There are a lot of other options available.

You should be able to download the entire sheet if you want. Here is a blank format. I cleaned it up as best I could, leaving the last week I ran for reference. Let me know if you cant download it. You will have to hand jam some of the info every week, such as what week it is, days since employment, etc. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rMlfUJn0zlyCrWnVN81fx_jlydY-1NwDids2YOVHTFk/edit?usp=sharing

@@truckingthesevenseas Wow, much appreciated! So helpful to see everything itemized in a spreadsheet. Looking forward to seeing the lease spreadsheets once you get started. What is the row on the spreadsheet marked 'Safety'? I'm assuming the miles column is loaded miles. How are deadhead miles figured into earnings? Is the per diem pay of 12 cents/mile only for loaded miles? Is this per diem rate constant or does it ever change, for example to account for inflation?
@truckingthesevenseas
@truckingthesevenseas Год назад
Safety is the safety bonus you get at the end of the month. There's also fuel bonus and mileage bonus but I didn't get any of that due to time off. Miles column counts both empty and loaded. You are paid the same both empty/deadheading and loaded. Per diem probably does change but idk when and by how much. Its determined by the government I think.
@AlbertMaruggi
@AlbertMaruggi Год назад
@@truckingthesevenseas first off, wow this is something every driver should be getting in orientation. It's all about professionalism so thank you. Second, I'm looking at cell F110 and I think there is a formula that contains the same cell twice which is F86. Third. So when you get per diem does that mean you get a lower CPM base rate, or is that $.36 per mile what a Knight Driver gets on that lane? Thanks so much for all of this and your insights
@truckingthesevenseas
@truckingthesevenseas Год назад
Per diem is flat rate. The rates change bases on the load length. Longer the load the less pay and vice versa.
