@Crusader's Cone Hat Let's not forget the fact that knights are trained warriors who are more than capable of handling their armor to it's full extent of it's capabilities.

@Crusader's Cone Hat It really isn't though, like you said, the way they built the armor and distributed the weight made it so that it was perfect for combat and mobility. Now gambason on the other hand is kinda awkward and unwieldy. It's like wearing a mattress on yourself.

@Crusader's Cone Hat Either way, the notion that knights can't "get up" if they fell of their horse is completely false and bogus. Soldiers nowadays carry like what? 50 lbs worth of equipment approximately? Don't even get me started on the "debate" of Samurais being faster and more agile than knights lol. The katana weighs just as much as a traditional longsword, but a longsword is more versatile due to it being double-edged and the crossgaurd being more useful for half-swording.

Exactly! Video games depict heavy medieval armor totally wrong, most likely because of gameplay balancing of course. But actual heavy armor (armour) still leaves you with full mobility and the weight is mostly dispersed all throughout your body... if it's well made.

Tell them about the development of weight an ordinary soldier had to carry over the centuries. I think you can find something like that somewhere on the internet (at least I saw it once here). It changed quite a lot over the years, like: footsoldier in viking wars was just a shield, helmet, his weapon and whatever he carried around but didnt take to battle. A knight is shown here (+weapons). A roman pikeman carried more than the viking soldier, even though the viking came later. A musketeer only wore a standard, cloth garb, some stuff and his rifle. Its not just going upwards. And, you know it already I guess, plate armor isnt that heavy. Try a bulletproof vest (around 10-15kg, military purpose vest, not one of those only aiming to provide protection against small pistols), add the rifle, the helmet, radio, nightvision and whatever shit else youre supposed to carry nowadays. Believe me, its heavier than full plate mail.

Plate in the 15th century Was over 30 lbs and got heavier as time went on . Modern day armor depending on plate carrier and plate type used is around 20-30ish lbs. so in summary depending on time period and specific equipment they could be comparable or not .

People still have that dumb misconception because people don’t know there was heavy armour for knights, and heavy cavalry armour that was much heavier and they needed a fucking crane to put you on the horse, and put you down from it. And everyone still thinks that was the common knight armour, when I’m fact that armour was rare.

those outfits are 15-14th century knight outfits, completely wrong era. The crusades were circa 1190, where they had only chainmal armor and spagenhelm helmets. So get your history together.
