Hey Knightscope! Why would I want the authorities to do their job MORE effectively? Also, it would be nice if you had enough balls to enable comments on your own videos. I pulled over to the side of the road a couple days ago to help a stranded motorist and within 60 seconds I had an officer questioning me with his flashlight being shone in my truck. An extremely insulting experience.

Wouldn't multiple cameras be better since they cover more ground at the same time? The robot can only be in one place.

As a security guard I say "W.T.F" clients already go for the cheapest option so $6 an hour that's a job gone but only for a short time as this looks overall to be useless.

I wonder what happens if a criminal shoots it.

So, you don't have to pay the robot as much as a person. But my question is how long before the upgrades come in. when do these things get pepper spray in them a taser, and what would the upgrades after that be? In the end this seems like a double edge sword to me. Sure, it sounds great until it isn't. let alone I can't help but here the terminator music playing in my head when seeing this

What's more likely to kill someone?: -Robot trips somebody by running into them -Human trips another human because the other person wasn't in their line of sight Obviously the second choice would be more likely to kill someone, especially children.

This would be good for behind the scenes security that those officers can't see, but the durability is my main concern. The wheel in front is just a simple turn around. Hope that they have anti-hacking things on it. as a intruder could disable this robot if they know what the hell they are doing..

So is this like having a cat for your "security" purposes? I just looked up the word "security" and here is what it states as being the definition of that word in regard to this application: "the state of being free from danger or threat"...this is an illusion, people seeing these rolling bullet shaped large devices making them think that because of them, they are in a state of security. If someone attacked you in a mall, and this thing was rolling by, and at the same time an undercover real person trained in neutralizing criminal attack happened to see what was going on at the same time, rolling machine couldn't give a squat what happens to you...it's a machine...if you have any chance at all, it will be because real person interveined on your behalf. The second definiton of "security" is like a stock in a company...so maybe that's what they mean by this being a "security start up"...maybe they started up a new stock ticker on the NYSE peddling robots.

I don't understand how it's gonna stop crime, if shits happens like a crime or sth, it's not like they can fight, they'll still have to "call" their humans to come over; by the time the human police arrived, the criminals will all be gone

Holy fuck…I hope I’m not the only one disturbed by this…if I saw one of these, I would John-Connor it out of principle. Like seriously, how long before people decide “well, it’s safer to just arm it so that we keep humans out of danger, so let’s give it a stun capability and a machine gun? That way it’s prepped for everything!” fuck…lord help us all if this is what the future looks like…

We’re losing our privacy little by little and lately it’s a lot at a time

No matter how may sensors on board or info collected/stored, actionable/enforcement decisions will need to be filtered through a human (s). Attempting to fill a very limited role that fixed PTZ cameras with developed AI from a monitoring center cannot already do to cover vast areas & respond accordingly with enforcement (AKA humans). Of course, there may be some use cases where cameras are not mountable in certain areas or not cost effective, but then we have to possibly deal with terrain, range, logistics, battery life, etc. which may further pose a challenge. I like the R2D2 spin, but I really think the overall "solution" offering and evolvement of the products/service need to better match existing & emerging needs for this company to survive the first round in a very competitive & established security industry.

We have have also been hearing about Proactiv for a while now.... you should check that out buddy

This thing would be great for mapping out space plans but that's it. If we got this at my building, it would be stolen or destroyed in less than a day. Remember what happened to hitch hiker bot?
