Hello all! This is a tutorial for beginners on how to machine knit a headband for teens and adults. I used a Sentro 40 pin knitting machine but you can use other sizes/brands. My other favorite is to use a 20 knitting machine to make headbands for babies and toddlers.
Sizing guide (will vary by yarn, machine, and your tension):
Older child: 65-70 rows
Teen: 70-75 rows
Adult: 75-80 rows

I have that same machine and have made lots of "tube" knitting things, I have not used the "panel" setting yet, would love to see a tutorial on panel knitting, im not sure what to do, lol. Good video, wow!! I do not take it off like that at all, I use my darning needle after completing one round and take it off between the little pegs between each knitting peg, just go between those little ones, and it goes right on your tail that you threaded your darning needle with, much easier in my opinion, i would be so afraid of it unraveling .

I'm definitely still figuring out the panel setting but once I feel more confident, I have some fun ideas planned! I've definitely struggled with the "normal" way of taking it off the machine, for some reason I end up pulling stitches off before I'm ready for them and they begin unraveling. I've unfortunately had to completely restart way too often! I'll definitely keep trying that way though because it does look so much easier than what I currently do.

@lifeinallitsbeauty I keep my finger on the small pegs as I'm pulling of stitch, my next video, out this evening will show what I mean, I definitely understand your reasoning for doing it the way you do, have a great day

Thank you! I had some trouble learning how and why people did things when I was learning how to use my machine so I’m hoping I can help others learn a little more easily.

I got my 40 yesterday. The yarn that came with it worked. Nothing else works. I've tried all the holes on the tension guide. Its like the needles are to far away for the yarn to catch. Ive tried the same yarn my 48 uses no problem. What yarn are you using? Thanks

That’s frustrating! I’ve had good luck with Caron simply soft, loops and threads soft and shiny, and lion brand respun. Weight 3 yarn or thinner weight 4 yarn work best. I have not had good luck with red heart super saver.

I have both machines and they both drop stitches and make an awful noise. I haven't used them since and tried taking them apart so disappointing

Oh no! The biggest thing I found that helped was figuring out which yarns worked and the best tension for them. You’ll want a thinner worsted weight yarn (Caron Simply Soft is a good size to check against) and tension so it isn’t super hard to crank but also isn’t loose. You might also try cranking slower or faster because sometimes the speed can impact it. It took me about ten baby hats until I finally figured it out so I wasn’t dropping stitches.
