Your upside bar stool addi mount is genius, especially for those of us who don’t have table or counter space large enough for the machine. I also like the way you closed off the end with slip stitches. I always wondered how to make the finished end look neat, not messy. Thank you for this tutorial!
The upside down stool is such a clever idea bravo and my mom is about to get one of these machines so I’ve been checking out some videos and this video was very nice you are so kind and you’re very good at what you do
I just decided to order a machine and thought I needed to do panels for a blanket. This is so much warmer and easier. Thank you so much! This video has taught me so much about little tricks to make it more fun. Lots of love from the Pacific Northwest 🧡
Love the upside down stool, I was thinking of a small foldable table with a hole cut in the middle and a plastic bag or bucket attached. I've never seen anyone use a crochet hook quite like that before. Bravo on the blanket.
You make it look so easy! Well done! I've had my addi for awhile now, and I believe I am going to attempt this for my queen size bed. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this tutorial. You have given me the confidence to do this style blanket. Injust purchased a machine and this will be my first project. I have completed 1/2 of my first tube....
I think I need one of these. I like crochet but I can never get through a full blanket so this may be a winner lol great video and love the bar stool hack
Just saw your video. I had the same idea using ALL my scraps of yarn but never really got to do anything with them until mow. Thanks for sharing and love the idea of the stool and making the blanket. Now I know what I'm gonna do now, lol.🤗
Have you ever tried making a "magic cake" or magic ball with all your scraps? You Russian join the ends together then wind it into one larger ball, so you won't have as many ends to weave in and won't have to stop a ton of times. I just got a Sentro knitting machine, so this may be a good way to use up my scraps! Thanks for the idea!
@@TheAddiQueen Do you find that it's more likely to catch and drop stitches with that method? I just found your channel today, so I'm hunting through everything, soaking up info like a sponge. 😅
Dtop stitches are sometimes hard to miss. I just take it slow until I know what my machiene thinks of the yarn. With multiple colors and different yarns, i actually think it is harder to catch
I have to say that your blanket is wonderful. I want to make one someday. First time I ever saw a blanket like this it was done on a flat bed knitting machine.
Wow I have never seen anyone take the tube off like you did, that was amazing to me. Would you do the same when making a hat? I just ordered a machine and looking forward to makine hats for the homeless and for hospitals. I just subscribed to you and look forward to watching you more. Pat from Texas
Hmm. Never really thought of doing a scrapghan but with me having mumy first knitting machine coming i think this will be a fun way and a fast way to make afghans to donate to the food pantry now that winter is coming.
On the beginning end the scrap yarn is not going to unravel on its own - you have to pull it through the first round of loops. Once you do that it will pull out the same as the end scrap yarn.
I could do this, but my knitting machine doesn't have a row counter, I'd like to make a hat on something other then my knitting loom, I'm just unsure how long in inches to make a double sided hat before folding it over....as for a blanket, I am making one on my infinity loom, I'd sure like to try this when I get done tho.. question do you know if the baby soft yarn would fit into this machine? my machine doesn't have a brand name on it and I'd sure like to use the machine for that but if not then I'll just make it the same way I'm making my current one....I've managed to ween myself off of anxiety medication by knitting, thanks for the idea to use my scrap yarn instead of throwing it
I did not. As stated in other comments, it depends on a lot of factors. Your tension, yarn choice, what join you use..... I suggest knitting a tube that it about 100 rows long and measuring it. Them you can do the math based off of your work to decide what you need. If I do 100 rows and it is 3 feet long, I would need to do about 250 rows, as a king bed is 6ft 4inches. (not actual row counts, just an example. )
Have you ever worked with 100% pure wool? I am thinking of buying this machine to use my huge pile pure wool from my parents sheep I had made into skeins
I have a twin size bed but I like my little bit bigger so I can used it when I am in my chair watching TV and on my bed I can fold it in half for my bed sleeping. How many rows should I do on it.?😊
When making a scrap yarn blanket and you have some scrap yarn balls that is almost a full skein, do you use the whole ball then or split it between tubes?
I have problems closing my tubes. Which technique would you recommend for a beginner? I'm making 4-250 rows tubes as a lap pad to using when I'm in my chair with my laptop.
@@Morgan7477 I do take contributions if people feel inclined to do so. Here is a link to the video (: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bzA7gVU21Ec.html
have you ever done an afghan/blanket using flat panels? I wanna make a blanket for my hubby and I but I worry that making tubes would make the blanket too hot.
My stool is 29 “ .... is that the same height as yours and it’s Mainstays? Anyway I just zipped tied it until I figure out something else ... Thank You
How many tubes did you put together for that blanket in the end? Im thinking a christmas gift idea and would love to make it that big! This video was SO HELPFUL btw
For a single bed how many tubes do you need to knit and also how many rows long should each one be? What do you do if you find that one tube is slightly longer and doesn’t match up with the others for an exact join? I am very new at this!
I would do a tension swatch. Everyone knits a bit differently. Knit 40-50 rows and then take it off of the loom. Stretch it and shape it, then mesaure how wide/long it is. From there, measure how big you want your blanket and do the math to see how many rows and tubes you need
Hiya, I'm hard of hearing and I don't hear very well when watching videos, so can you tell me how many rounds you do to make these squares. Many Thanks.
Hello! There should be a subtitles option on my videos. I did not do a certain amount of rows for each color as they were scraps from my stash. It has been a while, but I think i did 300-350 rows for this.
Hu! Just found your channel :) Could you give me a rough idea,of how many rows i might need if i were to try this for a California king size? I know insane. But i have a best friend that's expecting and gets super cold right now and i would love to give her a huge blanket made with love. :) Edited sorry wrong size said.
I made one for my mother's King and it was 500 rows each. I would to a tension swatch (about 50 rows), measure how many stitches/inch and then google the beds dimensions
It really depends on your yarn, tension, how far you want the blanket to hang over, and many other things. I suggest knitting a tube of 50 or 60 rows and measuring the width.
It depends on which machine, yarn, and your tension. It is hard to give you a definite answer. Also depends on how much you want it to hang over the bed. I would say probably 8 or 9 tubes.
Pretty long. It really depends on what size blanket you end up making. I always follow the Philosophy that it is better to have too much than too little.
Love your videos. Have you tried making a blanket using the addi king size and the addi professional and mixing the two different tube sizes in one blanket?
@@TheAddiQueen I’m thinking that could be an interesting design and good way to useful up scrap yarn too. I just love the all blue scrap yarn blanket you made . I love how each different color square looks like granny squares sewn together
