I read the book and I loved it! Im already through the second and waiting for the 3rd to be released! 😊 I knitted the baby bear hat for my daughter and she looked very cute in it! ❤️ Im also pregnant with my second baby right now. Due mid november! 😊 Im enjoying to see all your baby knits! But yes! Dont stress out about baby knits! I started knitting more for my daughter when she was about 1 year old, because they grow sooo fast the first year! 😅 It is almost not worth it knitting a lot of baby garments, because they can literarily wear it just a couple of times! But they look so damn cute in handknits! I gave all my handknit baby garments to friends who had babies. Now I received all back for my second baby and the thought that several babies did wear them makes me happy! ☺️

If you want to make a bring home outfit, make it! You have been dreaming about it. He'll be wearing a diaper. The poop won't be huge. You'll have the outfit forever. Knit it EXCEPT if it is going to stress you out too much.

Ha! Can’t believe you have found Still Game and enjoy it! I am In Scotland and it’s iconic. It’s definitely a very Scottish style of comedy. Glad you stuck with it and we’re able to enjoy. I’ve watched all your episodes I believe and enjoyed your journey through knitting. Exciting too to know you will have a baby soon. Big life change but soon you and your husband will marvel at your lovely baby. It’s amazing how the nurturing mode kicks in. You will be fine, poop and all 😃. Happy knitting and reading in the meantime. Take care look after yourself and don’t sweat the small stuff, just enjoy x

Love your podcast! I’ve found so many cute things to knit because of your podcasts. While this is my first time commenting I’ve loved hearing your experiences and stories woven in with your work. I wish you a wonderful last couple of weeks of pregnancy.

Knit what makes you happy, poo is not a problem, lemon soap will take many of the stains. I recommend to knit your baby a blanket. I made for my kids and they are well used. Take care and i wish you all the best. I love your podcast.

That meconium (poop) only lasts about a day or so! Depending on the policies at your hospital, it may be over and done with by the time you leave. Tip for that time though is to slather aquaphor or vaseline all over baby's bottom so that it can be easily wiped off without too much irritation! It can be suuuuuper sticky and a nightmare, but the aquaphor is a good protective layer that wipes right off. Also, blow outs happen with normal poop too haha. I always noticed that cloth diapers held it much better, but it's inevitable and you'll be washing things frequently no matter what. Also, you could totally knit something for general use and maybe use it for newborn photos. Babies lose weight initially in the first few days (so don't stress when that happens!) and you can always keep it as a keepsake, maybe tucked into a binder page with the photos!

enjoying your podcast, found you as I've been looking for baby knit inspirations. :) I'm due end of Feb. with our seventh child. Thought I'd share my very favorite knit for all my babies, that they wear in the hospital and as part of their homecoming outfit is the Newborn Vertebrae by PEKAPEKA designs. I just love them! They knit up pretty quickly being so small and because it's an open cardigan style they usually can wear it at least the first month if not two depending on the baby. and it's just the absolute best to cuddle with your newborn in something handknit. I love it so much! :D

I’ve been loving all of the baby knits! I’m 39 weeks with our third child, but first boy! I have been binging the last few of your episodes and catching up on some seaming and buttoning of various rompers. With the sock yarn acquisitions you showed in a previous podcast to do some color work socks and the mention of the toadstool socks, I thought of a very quick knit that you could make for a newborn and even as a coming home outfit accessory: the mushroom mitts (as scratch mitts) by Ashley Yousling. I, likewise, want to knit all the things for our son, but I agree not to stress out and you will be able to make things for him once he is born! My two daughters have completely different skin tones (one has a neutral skin tone and the other has a cool skin tone) and while my oldest can pull off any color, with my youngest certain colors don’t look good on her (sometimes they make her look sickly), so I am glad I held off on certain outfits until after she was born.

Another great baby knit is the Arnica Baby Cardigan! The color work is simple and you can take it off easily if it’s too warm! It’s Adorable! When you love your knits it shows! Just Enjoy the whole process…..thank You for sharing!

Get some lemon soap for the baby poop :) It will get a lot of the stains out. Meconium (the black tar kind of poop) is the first poop and only lasts a day or three the rest is that yellow goo. I have in my years of being a mom of 3 only had 2 body stockings being thrown out because of that, so I would say knit all the baby stuff you want! if you get a stain you cant get out you can always dye it a darker color.

I agree with Kathleen. Never mind the poop. I never had ANY spills of anything on my sons garments, knitted or not. It’s in the diaper. It rather spilled on me, but his clothes were always spared 😂

Yes, don't stress about all the baby knits. Everything will be okay - deep breath. 😁 I love to read more in the fall and winter as well. I'm in between books at the moment. Just finished Winter People by Jennifer McMahon. That book was pretty good.

Haha aww first time mommy stress. Girl after 4 kids I have realized how much easier and chill we get with every baby. Have fun but don’t stress. 1. Tar poop is for REAL and blow outs happen for that first few months and it will ruin anything they are wearing. I can never give away my newborn clothes because so many of them have poo stains lol. 2. They grow out of clothes so fast! I only now started knitting for my daughter whose 13 months and I’m knitting 2years size because she will be able to wear it much longer and the knitting will be worth it. Good news for you though this is your first and most of your stuff seems pretty gender neutral so you can def can wear out of them on other babies ;) Lastly, it might seem like a lot but you could always put a light cotton onsie underneath the knit wear just in case they do have a nasty blow out haha.

I’ve made the baby bear bonnet for my at the time one year old and it was perfect (apart from her refusing to wear anything containing mohair. It didn’t get much use. But the size was on point)

That was a great episode. It made me laugh when you said you had the subtitles on for the Scottish accents. Yes biscuits in the UK are the equivalent of your cookies. What we call scones are similar to your biscuits I think. Btw I think "teething business" is what you need to watch out for. Definitely nothing as bad as that!😆 xx

Thanks for testing and sharing the Hawkins Socks! I really love the colors you used. I tried Anne with and E and I just couldn't get into it. I guess it is too far from the book and original movie for me, and I am a HUGE fan of those, so that is probably why. lol! I have been watching Grace and Frankie and Gilmore girls.

I really enjoy knitting while listening and watching your podcast! My son is 13 now but I will never forget how I felt in that lead up to birth - time. It felt increasingly surreal - even when I was in labour - that I was going to be a Mom, but then he was here and whilst it didn't all 'fall into place', it wasn't surreal anymore. My boy was a month early, so it was all a bit of a surprise! But so wonderful too. I love how you chat here - you come across so very naturally and I enjoy all the books you talk about. I really enjoy a good series too - I tend to listen to books on audible, but would recommend the Children of Blood and Bone series, the Wheel of Time series, anything by Octavia Butler, most anything by Brandon Sanderson. Oh and I really enjoyed Garth Nix's series which includes the 'Abhorsen' in it. I've been knitting for 7 years now and I love love love it. I have quite the stash now and see it as my painters palette so when i get the urge to cast something new on, I can usually find something cool in stash. Much love to you - and thankyou for this awesome content! Ros from Bristol, UK X (@rosem0nde on IG)

Loving seeing all the snuggle knits though while we are heading into summer here! - Off to knit some Hawkins socks for next year haha

That is why you buy a bunch of just plain cotton onesies for under things--those catch the blowouts, and you can bleach them. 🙂

Knit whatever brings you joy. Mom of four here. The main reason I'm commenting though: I NEED to know which paint you used! We're moving in December and I need to paint the place. That green is perfection. All the best to you!

I'm super basic and have been reading Lord of the Rings trilogy for a second time in less than a year, surprisingly I am not a fantasy person but I love these books. The only thing I have been watching is the new series of Bake off and I have mixed feelings. I've been knitting on a cardigan for my mom, I'm totally making it up as I go, she knows about it so she can try it on for size. Doing some faux cables to make it elegant but also not too heavy since I'm using acrylic. I love rambly podcasts. 🥰

Keep calm, you can do whatever you want for your baby and we will support you. Book series recommendation is the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (fairytale retellings in sci-fi, it's soooo good). Show recommendation is Dragon Prince, it's fantasy-based and soo funny. You end up loving the characters so much.

If you’re into fantasy HIGHLY recommend reading all of Brandon Sanderson books!! Maybe start out with the Mistborn trilogy and then branch out to his other books!! He’s my absolute favorite author!

Hello from Washington! Loved the extra long video and the little hat and socks are adorable. Some TV show recommendations I have are “What We Do in the Shadows”, “Reservation Dogs”, and “Derry Girls”. I’m not a big fantasy book person, but a great fall read with a bit of fantasy is “Practical Magic” by Alice Hoffman.

I made a coming home sweater and hat and socks for my first two and this one (due in January) I've knit him little overalls, a sweater, and socks. I plan to knit a hat and mittens as part of the outfit too. I'm worried maybe the overalls will be too big but if he doesn't wear them home he will grow into them soon.
