I bought this E-tool back in 2013 and has not let me down. I'm not sure if it is actually a Chinese military item or not but who cares. It works and will be packed with me when need be.
I am loving mine and as long as it is dependable and works, is what matters to me as well. thanks for sharing your thoughts on the shovel and for the watch.
It is a pretty nice tool and you always get the chance to try my gear first hand. lol You will be able to try this as well man. Thanks for the watch Bro.
I was recommending this to someone tonight and came across your vid...You have some great footage of this in use. But I mean lets face it, the original promo video for this shovel is probably the best bloody product ad for any kind of bush tool out there. You put up a good fight with your own footage though.
The original video i seen of this was pretty darn sweet, showing soldiers using this tool. Well i use it for the bush and it has been my go to shovel for sure. :) Thanks for the comment and happy 2022.
I really dig it. lol . I like that i can turn the head to 90 degrees to scoop dirt from a deep hole as well. A feture that most spades dont have . :) ATB.
@@kullcraven Did a bit of research and it appears to be some sort of Chromium Tungsten steel. With the inclusion of Tungsten it should be really good stuff. Don't think the Chinese army would use it if it's going to fall to pieces in 5 minutes lol .
Cool design..I’ve owned one now for a few years. I will say it is rather cheap and gimmicky and there is no way I’d trust this tool to tie myself and gear off in its grappling hook “ setting “. I also think the wood is a poor choice for a handle material for long term durability. I spent 8 years as an Infantryman in the 82nd Airborne Div as well as multiple overseas locations. I know good gear. BTW….the current issue USGI E Tool & the USMC tool by Gerber will blow this thing out of the water in all areas. Sure it has more “ gadgets” but let’s be real here. Overall….it’s an ok tool that will serve many well but there are much better choices. Just my .02. Great review also. AATW!
Thanks for yout thoughts, i use and love this spade, it has done me well in the bush. It also has far more uses then a standard spade and more useful in my opinion. ALTHOUGH i have beat this thru its paces and it has performed like a champ, i cant say it is great for all folks for sure. I appreciate your opinion and thanks for the watch and comment.
I have the same shovel but mine is the old version, i got it in 2012.. the pin unscrews all the way and you pull it out and adjust the head until its where you want it and screw the bolt pin back in. Other than that its the same.
This has proven itself , and given to the military i was told, so this will hold up very well and has for me since this video, i have done tons of work with it. :)
Have you ever used the cold steel shovel? If so how would you say it compares? I know has more tools on it but does it seem sturdy for continued use (the moving parts). Thanks for sharing.
I have not used the cold steel shovel tho it is a great tool. This one has been proven by the military, it has to do what its supposed to , or it would not be issued to soldiers. My personal experience is that i been using it alot and its been working very well. :)
That looks like a great trencher to have. Very multi use. I have an old WW2 German wooden handle folding shovel with a pick. It has a little weight to it, but is very sturdy. I would trust your shovel or my German shovel more than those tri folding camp shovels. Thanks for sharing.
Looks very useful and sturdy. Only one question. Why does everyone put a bottle opener on every tool ? I do like the longer handle. Gives you more leverage.
It is working very well and proven to be a awesome tool. Bottle opener /can opener can be very useful. Tho the using it to open cans is the feature i can see most useful over a bottle opener. Not much bottle caps that are not twist at least.
They have been using these for years and they have proven to be a good tool. I cant tell you more than that. This is almost 3lbs but worth the carry for a long camp and such, i think.:)
I have seen even crazier shovels on chinese website. Too bad I cant get it in my country, I will get them when I go to china by the end of the year. Check out this brand Zune Lotoo.
Thanks , I have a few Chinese spades but they are not military issue. I love that this has been tested and proven to be a great tool. I'm finding out that they are. :)
