@@janemryl3289 oh yea that quitter with a glass mentality that came back 3-1 against a 73-9 warriors team and led every single stat category in doing so
Pure artistry. Thats why he was so much fun to watch. It wasn't just catch and shoot with Kobe . When he had the ball he kept you in suspense wondering what trick he was going to pull next. There won't be another Kobe
Grew up in on the east coast...caught SOOO many late night games watching kobe do this....wish i lived in LA to watch it every night...but i had bubba chuck every night so i am thankful! A.I. AND Kobe forever R.I.P. bean
I was at a hawks vs lakers game probably the season after this game and it was the exact same thing. The crowd was literally cheering louder for Kobe than our own team after he turned up the heat in the third. I’m telling you, absolutely nobody could get the crowd as amped up as Kobe could. Lebron not even close, I saw him play at Philips Arena a few times too. I’ll never forgot watching Kobe play, it’s an absolute experience. Now that he’s gone, it was a once in a lifetime experience 😔
Kobe fans are so insecure when it comes to LeBron 😂 Always bringing his name up in situations that has nothing to do with him… Pretty embarrassing trying to belittle LeGoat to uplift Kobe 😂
@@breal6592 People compare LeBron to Kobe all the time and I’m just telling you how ATL reacted to both in the same arena, and there was no comparison. I’m sorry my comment hurt your feelings, but I guess I admire you for trying to stick up for LeBum on a comment from nearly two years ago!
Yes yes do it again. If we would asked people to bring kobe back we got to give up James I just wonder what would be said? Tell me what you would say? Great pic as well.
its def debatable my friend . kobe at his best was a assasin . i watched him score 60 plus 3 straigt games ..nobody in todaya nba has that kinda firepower. kobe was just unreal good offensively.
+Jamaal jkiiD Burns it sure is man . kobes been my favorite player since he was a rookie. the footwork and the fadeaway only other person who can make tough shots and has that kinda footwork is jordan . mj overall is slighly better and only reason i give him the edge is cause his big ass hands and he was stronger than kobe .. but kobe bryant is the closest to.jordan we will ever see period.. people love to hate on kobe they didnt respect his first 3 rings cause shaq well he proved everyone wrong and took the lakers to 3 straight finals.from 08 to 2010 if gasol wasnt so.soft they wouldve beat the celtics in 08 but i lost interest in the nba since kobes gone .. hes def a assasin and a top 5 alltime player hands down. he got.robbed outta 2 mvp trophys he should be a 3 time mvp ..
+sonofaballer96 That's debatable. You have Michael, Kobe, LeBron and Steph who are all tremendous scorers. Michael could score in all kinds of ways. Mid-range shooting, master at the post game, can finish at the rim, shoot off the dribble, incredible foot work, good passer, OK 3 point shooter and was incredibly efficient on offense. Mike's only weakness on offense was 3 point shooting. Kobe can do it all like Mike. But he has way better handles before the injuries to his fingers and he's not the greatest 3 pointer shooter but still a good one. The only weakness on offense for Kobe has was shot selection. 45-46% shooting is still good but not great while Mike shot the ball at 48-50%. LeBron is a great scorer but not a good shooter. His jump shot and free throws are his only weaknesses. So is his post game and foot work. But probably doesn't need it cause dude is a beast when he scores in he paint. That's where he gets his point most. He'll get it going by scoring outside the paint sometimes. But he'll get his the most in the paint cause most guys who are defending him can't stop a 6'8 250 pound SF who has great speed and strength. LeBron is probably the weakest of the 4 in terms of being the best offensive player. Steph is a monster on offense. While he doesn't have the the great foot work and the great post game like Mike and Kobe, but he's way better shooter than they were. The guy can shoot off the dribble, has great, great handles and can finish at the basket. Possibly better on offense than Mike and Kobe. You can debate that. But as overall....not yet. Mike and Kobe are known to be more of a complete player since they play both ends of the floor. Steph is still young and is a decent defender, but can he improve on that? We'll see.
For the guy who asked, the MVP chants started for Kobe after he got robbed in 2006 (the 2nd year Steve Nash won the award)..... Kobe was clearly the best player in the league and had the best season of anyone. But there was still a lot of backlash against him for how Shaq left, so voters wouldn't vote for Kobe. I think he came in 2nd, and there were 20 guys that didn't even have Kobe on their ballot. If those 20 had just put Kobe on anywhere, he would've won..... Damn shame that the Mamba will end his career with only 1 MVP award.
Cedric Williams sad as fuck.. Shaq earned it in 2005 and kobe should have been mvp in 2006, dude had a Russel Westbrook like season that Westbrook had last year. Kobe averaged 35 & 4 with 62 in 3 quarters and 81 points., kobe killed it and finiahed 7th in the west
@@Bonescratcher why in the world is James in the topic of greatness when we are talking about kobe 🤔 or Mike? Is he really that good? Maybe I will never know.
@@tdavenport3387 I think LBJ is great and definitely top 5 all time. But in my opinion Kobe is clearly better (I have him ranked at #3). MJ is clearly #1
No matter how many misses he’s got throughout his career, but you have to admit, he has one of the most memorable and one of the most unforgettable shots ever in the league
They also got love for Michael and Magic. They got loud cheers when they go play at the opposing team's home court. But you don't hear loud cheers for LeBron.
757bigj ah ah,not yet..but hell get there i think..only kobe got more fans than anybody in the leauge in every road games..the last time i saw that when michael wer still playing in the late 90's..
mcfly .hur Man, I still remember watching Mike played against the Hawks back in '95 when he made his come back. Hawks lead, Bulls ball, Mike dribbles the ball down the court then hits the buzzer beater, Bulls win and the Atlanta crowd goes crazy.
mcfly .hur I don't think Lebron will ever get big cheers like that in opposing teams arena's. Kobe's style is just so much more exciting to watch, that's why people cheer. You think that whole arena were kobe fans? hell no.
Me too. But Kobe will always live on through us. At least we got to watch his whole bball career. To me he will ALWAYS be number 2 right behind Jordan.
That's how u know hes da GREATEST OF ALL TIME! Hes in another city nd got everybody CHANTING 4 KOBE!! When u put on a show like him what else can u expect.. KOBE & MJ= G.O.A.Ts
PR1NCETD0T lol I understand your trying to make us believe other players got reactions like this from away teams but they have NEVER reacted the way they do with Kobe Bryant...not even Vince and LeBron has had the same "away game effect" like da Mamba.
MultiKingdarius no lbj doesnt lool dont bs lbjonly gets crowd reactions when he does that 1 hand tomahawk or when hes hitting back to back shots which rarely happens since hes usually dunking or layupin in this vid if i never knew kobe was in atl i would have thought he was in staples
This year was his best work,IMO. Not best season, but the best work to keep that team even remotely involved in the playoff picture. Dwight with back issues,Nash not being a match there in that system and also being injury plagued. Kobe put that team on his back many nights that year. I respect it
It's too bad the CP3 trade got blocked. Otherwise Kobe wouldn't have had to destroy his Achilles to keep the team afloat. We would have had this Kobe for 2-3 more years.
I remember watching this game live, never knew at the time this game would be in the history books. Remember kids, appreciate greatness when you see it.... 🐍🏀
My favorite Kobe season. At age 34, playing that amount of minutes he did, left it all on the table. Had nothing left at the end. Averaged 27, 5 and 6 that season.
Here's a small example of why Kobe and Dwight didn't work out. After Kobe sits down and Dwight gives him a high five, it's kinda hard to see, but Dwight starts imitating Kobe's "intense" face and the assistant for the Lakers looks at Dwight and doesn't even smile or anything. I mean, Kobe's all serious and intense trying his best to win the game and Dwight is imitating Kobe during a close game? They couldn't be more of opposites.
+peterdabest94 It's cool to clown and be like that but Howard would be clowning around the whole game. He never got serious. Other players clown around too but dude their times to put that shit aside and get serious about your business.
My dad never watch American's sports until Kobe played for the Lakers! Kobe brought me to the NBA and when he retired, I quit watching it! What a player!
Remember though...Kobe severely sprained his ankle on that last second game winner attempt in this game...Dahntay Jones undercut him. Lakers were fighting for a playoff spot very late in the season, so Kobe rushed his recovery time. He played 40 plus minutes on that sprained ankle until his achilles just couldn't handle it anymore.
+prettyflacko Yea man, that was the Vino season. Some of the best basketball we ever witnessed Kobe play. At 35 years of age at that. Had D'Antoni not work horsed him, and that achilles never blown i believe Kobe would still be playing close to this level.
+WBKsportsHistory I cant believe that this isn't addressed as a significant factor in causing that injury wow like they never even talked about that...
+sswise12121212 It's the media pushing their dumb agenda on people. He tore his Achilles because he injured his left leg multiple time vs the Warriors. It had nothing to do with age.
And-1, Free Throw, Rebound, Score, Steal (or at least poke the 🏀 away), Score again. This is what made him a nightmare for defensive sets because there really isn’t that much you can do when ONE MAN is literally breaking your team apart piece by piece, limb from limb. Cold Blooded Killer, and nothing short of that.
the lakers were in 10th place the year this game happened before he all star break with Dwight having back problems and crying and nash missing almost half the season kobe put up 27pts 6ast 5rb a game and got three triple doubles to will his team to the 7th spot in the playoffs before he got injured no one the deserved MVP more than him that season
+RahulPresentsKobe They don't give MVP to a team that is not a contender. Kobe was putting up those crazy stats with a shit team but I don't think he got any votes that season either.
Finally, some people with their heads on right. Thought I was the only guy arguing for him being the true mvp in 2013, so many clutch moments and incredibly being about to get his legs up late in the 4th MANY times. His heroics plus being able to pull the lakers out of the 17-25 hole definitely earned him an mvp, should have gotten at LEAST 3 during his career. Unbelievable to think curry, Nash, and lebron combine for 8 FUCKING MVPS while Kobe and Wade only have 1. Seriously tf is wrong with people
Man oi man how I miss kobe- When I was a kid we had Jordan then came along Kobe. An exact reflection of Jordan. Their will never be another kobe my childhood hero!!!!
lol damn, you'd think they were at staples. Kobe getting MVP chants in atl. I remember when he dropped 61 against the knicks and they were chanting MVP too.
I was at this game. Always was a LBJ fan but on this day seeing kobe destroy his opponents in person made me Respect his game so much more. Honored I got to see this man play. RIP Mamba
Hell ya yall see all those yellow shirts & jersey in the stands best fucking fan base hands down !!! Love seeing my fellow Laker brothers & sisters traveling to away games representing the lakers & kobe
