Jordan stated every practice it's like an actual game so it's more competitive physical than the actual games, even Pippen BJ harper horace Kerr Phil Jackson Magic Johnson ect people says how Jordan rolls every practice and how he trained like crazy first thing in the early morning 4am, he made everyone engage in his everyday routines, work ethics and commitment to the game.. To remo e fear and feel the mentality.. Competitiveness of neither games/sports.. Kobe is much interviewed by many others thats why everyone knows insights of what it's like during his games and practice.. Wereas Jordan only take interviews to few well known media personels and unbiased hosts.. Maybe Jordan haven't said much but his coaching staffs teammate's and other hof superstars collegues said the same thing about him..
I could listen to Kobe speak all day! He is so knowledgeable about the game. Tbh, had be a great head coach! or at least an NBA analyst! I want more kobe
I think he wouldnt work as a coach he is honestly to great and would expect the best from his team. Maybe the perfect team/roster maybe but i doubt any team out there is that with the new age players
the greats cant coach. thats why you have never seen 1 mega successful athlete become a successful coach. when you have an innate ability to just understand things you cant teach that to other people.
Smush Parker is a study in why you shouldn't give your kids ridiculous names (I know it's a nick name), because no matter the heights they achieve, there will always be someone above them who will remember their failures because of their name. Kobe isn't going to have a feud with Henry Parker.
Nakita Williams shut up, let people feel and deal, obviously teenager and older knows that everyone dies, it doesn’t need to stated. Btw, Another idiotic obvious statement, ice is cold.
@@jeffsamuels2539 We've watched him grow up here in LA and the biggest sign of change is when Kobe is asked a difficult or a somewhat challenging question, he would always do this mouth thing which I'm sure somebody brought to his attention cause he hardly does it anymore. He seems to be a little more open which Ive heard having kids will do.
"kobe stopper kobe stopper" kobe: yeah come take this 45.. lmfao edit*: oh mah god..my first time with 1k likes.. thanks guys T.T also rip Kobe we miss you :(
Having a contingency plan means that you think you might fail. Kobes doesnt think that, he knows hes gonna succeed no matter what, because he works his ass off for whatever he does!
I agree Kd is hard af to guard watching how he handle the ball and shoot like a pg haven’t really seen any players lock him up and the fact Kobe said he was the hardest to guard that speaks volume to kds game
Antonio- not really, have you ever played anyone way taller than you like 5-6 inches taller? Of course he's harder to guard. He's 6 foot 10 to 7ft tall! This isn't rocket science. You are not going to block their shots.
My favorite Kobe, Smush Parker quote is... Reporter: About the 81 point game, How do you respond to your critics that said you took too many shots? Kobe: Pffft, What was I supposed to do? Pass it to....SMUSH PARKER? Cold Blooded!
I was 9 years old when Kobe made me fall in love with the game and being a killer hard worker, all while playing basketball . 10 years down the line I’m 19 years old, Kobe is long retired, and that fire that Kobe had bestowed upon me still burns whenever this man speaks GOAT
@ChattyPablo Awesome response! I appreciate it. I honestly feel like you have to consider where ARod / Big Cat come from as far as their backgrounds when thinking about their questions. ARod's questions just seemed like he was pigeonholing Kobe into a box whereas Big Cat will just ask a question, like you said, to somewhat lighten the mood but also get the viewers to see Kobe Bryant in a different light.
I always said he was by far the most mentally sound athlete, i've ever witness. Him & tom brady have a feel for the game i've never heard players speak on their respective sports so detailed. Blessings to the bryant family. 🙏🏿😔
04:36 this part of the interview is the saddest. His determination to the best and to have time for everything is what made him get on that damn chopper all the time. Slow down, pace yourself, breathe. Is like that old saying "Better late than never" Rest In Peace Kobe! MVP!
There's a lot of people who have the money files in California. There are a number of people who fly in Alaska, but since the accidents and even deaths don't involve a very popular NBA star, it's just everyday stuff.
Tony Allen was an Elite defender as Per Kobe n KD is by far the best defender they have encountered💯that must be a good feeling as a basketball player🙌🏻
My goodness listen to Kobe talk about practice, attention to detail when defending KD, and the assassin mentality when playing Rueban...he was simply different. Give this man respect‼️ Top 2 next to MJ, and he’s a close 2
03 Kobe was the best Kobe, he would've been better than 06 Kobe if Shaq wasn't on the team, Kobe had to hold back because he had to share the ball with Shaq
@Curly Que - It's more than just "fog". The morning of the accident there were 2 typed of fog the pilot experienced. The first was radiation fog which allowed a 5 mile visibility out of Van Nuys Airport. The second was the sea fog also known as Marine Layer that occurred within the Calabasas Gap. As the residence who lived inside of the gap, while interviewed stated it was the worse Marine Layer fog they've witnessed, and these where people who had residence there for 10-20 years. It was a combination of not so great things happening within a particular window that this time around led to the death of multiple people riding in a helicopter. Nothing could have been changed or avoided that day.
So glad to see Kobe doing interviews. I watched him for his entire career. BTW, I also watched Magic Johnson's and Michael Jordan's entire careers. I still think Kobe had skills that are simply the best in the league. His offensive and defensive arsenal was simply incredible, but his mind set on strategy and dissecting opponent skill sets is a whole other world above most players, not to mention his work ethic.
Yea, I agree that Jordan is the best. I truly do believe that. I remember watching Jordon pre-Pippen score 60+ points and still lose the game, but he was incredible to watch. I'm really just saying that Kobe had an execution of skills that I really enjoyed watching, and I don't see Kobe as a lesser Jordan just because they had a similar style. I see Kobe as a great player.
Kobe was more skilled than Jordan, that is just how humanity works, surpassing the next generation, passing the torch. I can't understand why people can't accept that.
It's all about paying attention to every detail, no matter how small or unimportant the average player think it is. Players these days can barely spell defense
I grew up watching Kobe I always wanted to be like him I remember playing vs the cross town rivals in High school for the league championship down 1 last play of the game I had the ball in my hand the other team seemed to be confused about their defensive assignments which resulted in 3 defenders all going to the ball leaving our teams best shooter open in the corner and our big man open in the paint with 3 defenders around me I had to act quick I thought about passing it up to one of my open guys but something in my head kept telling me “mamba mentality mamba mentality” so I ignored my teammates and pulled up from 40 feet fading away and the rest was history.... I have never seen anyone brick a shot so hard in my life I cost our team the game and proceeded to get cut from the team and I have not played basketball since
@12:19 You can see the sense of urgency and alarm on Kobe's face as he realizes the interview is almost over and he hadn't gotten a Smush Parker diss in yet.
When you hear and see interviews like this you really get to see how obsessed and methodical kobe was. Counting down seconds and footsteps to when an athlete does a certain move shows his relentless of being great on both ends of the floor
Greatness!!! Always say a lot of players have had the talent of the Kobe’s, Jordan’s, Brons…, kds entering that convo. But what separates that convo is they just have “basketball know how “ my coaches use to call it. They studied the game until they head hurt
Abraham Lincoln It all depends on the scope of intelligence and expression of the interviewer. It’s a different age now, it all depends on whose filming you now! 😉
Michael Schorle kir Kobe won 2 without Shaq and Shaq only won 1 without Kobe. Kobe was cheated of like 2 Regular season MVPs. Le’Veon doesn’t have 3 rings without Ray Allen and Kyrie. If Kobe was on the Lakers rn they would be in the playoffs
These Kobe interviews just show up on my recommended lists and I'm lucky because I never skip them when they show up. However, i dont know when new ones come out. I can listen to Kobe all day
I love how he breaks down the process he went through to prepare himself for certain matchups/teams. He practiced any time he could, but what he practiced and how he was able to know certain important key things about his matchups (back to the basket shots vs Tony Allen, short corner shots vs the Spurs/mentions Tim Duncan, etc.); that alone shows how great he was and how much he loved the game.
The one thing that he thought was gonna give him more time with his family was the thing that took all of his time away from his family forever... Tragic Irony
Little did y’all know Kobe forced front office to trade Shaq, the best player in the league, cause Kobe’s ego was too big, then forced them to fire Phil Jackson, so they even
Buddy The Elf If Shaq was the best player in the league, they would’ve traded Kobe instead. Kobe was the best player in the league, they couldn’t afford both and Kobe was on the rise while Shaq was on the decline. Simple.
Actually Shaq wanted a max deal, he was already aging past his prime and he wasn't going to take less. They didn't have the cap to sign both him n Kobe, so therefore him getting shipped to MIA.
@j t sleep is relative to the individual and their circadian rhythm. Some people can get all the REM they need in four hours, some need twelve. I'm tired of people thinking their intelligent just because they know old adages like "you need 8 hours of sleep a night." Sleep science is far more nuanced than public opinion
7:33 This man has practice down to a science. Custom routines based on team defensive schemes. Effing legendary. Definitely one of the most if not the most cerebral players of all time.
Great Ball Player,Great Family Man, Great Father! An all around Great Guy. Legend! We lost a good one! #8/#24 lives on. RIP Black Mamba! Muxh Love Kobe. 👍💯
Hearing this for the second Time since it came back hurt my heart .. this man didn’t wanna miss family time and sacrificed his whole being for them ! What a man , a father , husband ! Kobe was my hero growing up and when I die he will still be my hero! Mamba Forever
So glad to hear this. I remember people bashing Jimmy for what he did but he was doing what any true leader should’ve been doin. His team couldn’t get motivated so he left. He deserves better.
Such a great insight into how articulate he was to his craft. Mamba mentality right there. Even greater respect to undeniably one of the greats of the game.
I kno Kobe has a bad reputation for being cocky and arrogant but everytime i hear him speak i realize how smart he is and none of us can deny his work ethic! The man is for sure one of the top 10 to ever play!
It almost looked like Kobe wanted to cry when he was talking about taking a helicopter and wanting to spend time with his kids and take them to school and stuff.
His attention to detail was amazing. Listening to him describe how and why it was so difficult to guard KD was phenomenal. RIP to one of the GOATS 🐐 You are truly missed 🙏🏾
